Love those mental unlocks ! Killing it man ! Think it all adds up to build a bigger picture, it took me a long time too to be more conscious about what and where my back foot was doing too - love it ! Keep having fun and killing it

That's the hope man. I do love them too. Because even if it's on some basic tricks the 15 years of experience allows me to apply them to the more difficult stuff.

Crazy difference man! So cool how one little change in technique can change all your tricks that much. That’s what I love about skating, sometimes you plateau in your progression and then you discover something like this and make massive improvements in a day.

For sure man. I've always loved skating because no matter how much time, effort and dedication it is still a mountain to climb. Always looking to progress.

Flat backfooters of the world, unite!! I realized I do this for a while now, and even talked about it in a comment on a recent rose anvil video. I feel heavy on my board still. But that heaviness ties in to balance, when I squat low enough I feel I reset my balance. I’ve been doing the same thing, but was getting scared of landing primo on kickflips over small gaps. The back foot always took more damage because of how heavy I am on it also. I worked on ollie’ing a gap and then I kickflipped it. I suck at gaps and stairs but the more I work on it, the more comfortable I feel. On manual pads, too. I remember watching a yuto b-side of him getting a clip and observing his back foot. He had it closer to the pocket/concave. I realized you get a straighter pop hinging over the axle, but less power that way. Incorporating that into my skating slightly, I felt more confident about where to put my foot. I think for skating we get hung up on “the right way” when there’s personal variations, some people have different style, and there’s also trick variations. I can give you like 5 different kinds of shuvits but none of them work for me when going fast. Doesn’t invalidate those 5 variations, just means a way of doing a trick is usually not one size fits all. I skate flat footed as hell, my plantar fascia always hurts after a session, especially if I land primo. Mines is a quest for shoes that don’t bend in half.

I completely get it, thankfully no dancers toe for me. I am flat footed though I have zero arch and talk about it more in the next video. I explain my 575$ insoles and stuff like that. Popping with my foot flat deffiently doesn't work with every trick, that's why I chose those 5 for this video. I'm sure there are more but that is something I'll figure out over the next few years. Thank you for your feed back and experiences.

Don't be sorry for spending time with your family over uploading. Real ones will always be here for you. Family is important, and family time and connectedness are very important, and this is coming from someone who isn't very close with his family. You seem like a cool person, so I hope the best for you, your family, and your daughter. Have a nice life, man.

Thanks man I appreciate it. I only say it because for the first time in 9 years my channel has good steady growth. So I'll bust my butt now so I can hopefully keep the flow going and have that needed family time.

Nice fakie 180 flip. Been tryna nail frontside flips for months. Never landed yet but im right on it. I can finally heel flip and kickflip, and im starting to try heel varials. I think ur trick tip is finna help :)
@CpSkates4 күн бұрын
Well hopefully it does. Frontside flips never made sense to me in 15 years of skating. Hopefully you can put it down.

You know I've been thinking about this as well. I wonder if it's also the amount of travel you have available in your ankle to slap the tail. Basically, with the foot at a 45 degree angle, you can't use the ankle as much to get that additional slap because there's not much additional movement available to most people. Having the foot at more of a 5 degree angle would give you an additional 40 degrees of ankle movement for that slap. I've been telling people to load up their ankles like you used to do, but I'm starting to question if I've been guiding them wrong all this time.
@CpSkates5 күн бұрын
Well honestly I agree with both ways. So I'm moment I lowered my foot it felt significantly more comfortable but when I went to do a crooked grind just due to a Fear Factor I guess I rather have my foot tilted up more so I didn't bump it against the ledge . And kind of the same thing I want to do a switch 50/50 and I couldn't do it with a flatter foot. And that's why in the video I picked out five particular tricks. I'm sure there are more I just need to go back and try hundreds both ways.
@AgedSkaters4 күн бұрын
@@CpSkates I think fear factor and reducing chance of getting in the way are totally valid reasons to switch it up, but with tricks requiring a really good pop, I can see how lifting the ankle less would be beneficial. I'll have to try it out, but it makes sense, conceptually.
@CpSkates4 күн бұрын
@AgedSkaters yeah I think it's worth a shot giving a try. When I gave it a try for the kickflip it was just kind of like a slap in the face. Everything else was a bit of a happy accident.
@haroldcampos96614 күн бұрын
I also never bail and land on the ball of my feet. Always on the heel. Your leg (and body weight) is supposed to be over your heel not your toes. (For toeside grinds, it requires daily conditioning.) Sometimes the outer edge of the foot when shifting weight. Dunks have extra foam in the heel of the cupsole. It’s called the ‘midsole’ and you can’t see it, but it’s there. Some cupsoles are hollow with a lattice structure. Sometimes I'm glad I did other stuff for the last 15 years haha, gives me a fresh perspective. Good luck 👽🛸

You haven't been doing it wrong bro. When the board becomes a part of you're every step those ninja quick mantis toe pops that throws you into flips and handrails and rolling along like a kids would to schools
@CpSkates12 сағат бұрын
Personally I think it depends on what your skating. It's help me get into ledge more solidly. And start work on tech tricks that don't invole flips. If your flipping into handrails then you do you and don't listen to me. Lol

@@CpSkates looking at most of my videos, when i land things well, I have my foot flatter. but a lot of my floppy bs flips, I had the foot lifted up. I skated last night and thought about this some and I landed the fattest front shuv I have ever done, that thing was like thigh high. definitely an interesting tip dude
@CpSkates3 күн бұрын
@midskateboarder that's good to hear, it also helped me a bit on getting a clean pop on my front shuv. Which makes me happy because when I was a kid I loved seeing beibel do a fat front shuv nose grind. Then I learned them and was kinda bummed because mine are ugly.

hi mate, cool video but i just started yesterday and if i may ask, is the "goofy" stance any bad than regular?..and may i get any tips in starting skating?
@CpSkates6 күн бұрын
Thank you for the compliment. There is no difference with regular and goofy. You choose your stance based on your balance level. Simple question is if I asked you to stand on one foot which foot would you pick to balance one. That would become your front foot. The best tip I can give you is a beginner would be that if you want to play around practicing Ollie's and tricks that's perfectly fine. But spend a lot of time riding your skateboard do you want to be very very comfortable with your pushes with your turns once you have that unlock you want to spend just as much time mastering your Ollie and I know it might feel frustrating that you're not progressing much but trust me it makes everything else significantly easier as time goes on.
@wipegaming15696 күн бұрын
@CpSkates appreciate it mate, also how do you conquer the fear of skating, i know it might sound a bit stupid but i really overcomplicate and overthink a lot especially on riding it, like what if i fall or something or might not get my balance right
@CpSkates6 күн бұрын
@wipegaming1569 you will fall many many times. Best way to get over the fear of riding is actually to have friends around. If thats not a option you just start slow. I learned to ride in a very slight down hill drive way and rode down it for weeks before I started to push. Once the over fear is gone, it becomes a battle of fear for each trick. Some the fear goes away fast and others it never does. So you build your bag of tricks based on what feels comfortable at that time.
