I was recommended this video because I've been looking up random shoes from nostalgia, Jordan's, Adidas, etc., and saw the World Industries return title. I was always into skateboarding growing up but never had the opportunity to learn or skate anywhere but I'd wear World Industries alot. I was actually surprised by this video and I honestly learned so much from you. I didn't realize how many shoes skaters go through or how fast. I was stunned you said the Nikes barely survived 7 weeks. But as an adult, my references made me think of drifting cars, and how often drifters by tires so that makes sense. Also I never knew insoles could get that expensive! I would have guessed like 10 to 20 max. Came here to see what was up with World Industries but left with even better knowledge that I enjoyed even more.
@CpSkates2 ай бұрын
I'm happy you enjoyed the video. Skater usual struggle with shoes a bit. As a kid I woukd wear my left one out fast and that a friends left one. Wasn't uncommon to find me in 2 different brands and colors. Professions go through them in a couple of days usually. My insoles are only that expensive because they are medical. Your never to old to start skating or at least to track down some nice kicks lol.
@tinystar30102 ай бұрын
Oh ok, didn't realize they were medical insoles. I did look some up and was stunned how expensive they get. Made me wonder if people couldn't just 3D print insoles for cheaper using stronger materials. And yeah going through shoes as a consumable makes alot of sense. It's basically sandpaper grinding down thin fabrics. Just never clicked in my mind as a youth lol But definitely very similar to going through tires drifting and almost as costly sometimes. Definitely valued the knowledge I gained.
@CpSkates2 ай бұрын
@tinystar3010 I'm glad to hear you leaned something man. I'm not sure about the insole though, that would be cool to see. Thankfully my shoes are not as much as tire though. I'm a mechanic and work with a bunch for drifters for specialized alignments. I was laughing because the last guy I worked with had a BMW and wanted to follow other people's set up. I convinced him to go with my numbers before buying more parts. Came back a few days later and said it slid great. Few weeks later he installed the parts anyways dropped camber another 5°. Went from a set of tires every 6 passes to ever one.
@tinystar30102 ай бұрын
Lol yeah that sounds typical of beginners, instead of taking advice from a mechanic who has experience seeing everyone elses setups, they'd rather still do their own thing. Getting 6 passes from one set of tires is a phenomenal setup efficiency! But hey, it's his money I suppose lol

That was a badass story! The world shoes look kinda sick. I prefer cupsoles when doing flips, I flick with my ankle. And like the toebox feel more than vulc. Also I have an arch but I always try to keep it flat before jumping, even the pop comes from a low heel. My feet get tired in the plantar fascia, works like a rubber band under your foot, but there's not any muscle connected to that at all. I can't say I fully get it, but I have my own understanding from balancing on a flatbar. My understanding is based on the skateboard, and what it can help or not help do. Steering is an important one in general. How do you control a rubber band? lol. Also I had a problem putting the ball of my foot down on the big toe. And it's more difficult than it can seem. One exercise that works for me is you put your feet shoulder length apart, pointed perfectly forward, flat heel on floor is fine for stability...now get a kettle bell (I've only used my skateboard haha) and controlledly swing it side to side around your hips or wherever your arms reach. This should engage your arch and put the inner ball down. Now I said it before, I still bail on heels never forefoot or outer edge. Man that insole story was rad though! Thanks for sharing and cool mohawk, keep shredding dude! Also 5-stairs is already danger for me!

Thanks man I appreciate the time you put into your comments. The insoles have been a big change in my life. I still feel the soreness after work, and after skating but really no pain during. After skating the shoes for a few sessions now they feel great on the sole side. Everything else has deffently been a challenge. I hope I can avoid dancers toe, don't need a 2nd foot problem hindering me.
@haroldcampos96612 ай бұрын
@@CpSkates It's cool as hell that you can do sports in the hallux reinforced insoles. Is that what it's called? By dancers toe what are you referring to? It's kinda vague, do you mean like turf toe? Why would you get that? Generally, I find best care for any toe is a roomy toebox. Snug fitting shoes and sports is a bad idea. It's the same effect as when you jam your finger on a basketball, if you can remember ever doing that. It might not be painful but it is damaging. I'm experiencing some reversing of this type of damage myself, too. And yeah, some cupsoles shoes are stiff at first, that might be a good sign. Lift the insole and poke under the footbed/last to feel the inside of the cupsole. Push down with thumb and see if it dents and reveals a empty but flexible lattice structure (like an ice cube tray) or a stiff midsole foam. Notice if it has this foam under your heel and forefoot areas of the shoe. That foam is good. Skate shoes typically are zero-drop, usually minimal arch support if any like the nb# 480 (has some arch support), but dunks and jordan 1s only have midsole near the heel, I think. Sb dunks have beefy forefoot area though, lots of rubber and no lattice poking thru. Less foot fatigue, by a long shot! Non-pro vans classics are also the only vulc shoe with midsole foam. Pro vans use only a thick insole which is fine sometimes, except that in this case packs down too much for impact. Just for looks and comfort, in my opinion. But maybe easier for you to get your custom one in there, plus duracap is cool. Changing the original insoles out is always an option with skate shoes. The basic classic vans' midsoles are glued in but you can remove those too as needed, if needed. My bane is landing primo, then nursing my shit back to health.
@CpSkates2 ай бұрын
@haroldcampos9661 Dancers toe is planter fasciitis. Doctors refer to it that way because when it was named the only people who had it were ballerinas. The would spend careers on the tips of there toes. Lol. I never put much thought in the shoes I was wearing or the boards I was riding. Recently i heard Tom Asta and Kelly Heart talking about how very specific there set ups are. According to them the reason is as they get older they need those things to be perfect to skate at the same level with less effort. That made me start to think about things like that more. So If I loose a handful of tricks in these shoes, but gain dozens more than I'm ok with that trade off.
@haroldcampos96612 ай бұрын
@@CpSkates Sorry for all the edits and moving text around haha. The reality of writing but sometimes its better to fix everything up nicer. I get ya now, I have that constantly! I stretch it n warm up my fascia haha! And yea older guys above our thirties have to be strategic. We frequently splurge on the nice cupsole shoe for our health. And to skate several days in a row without leg fatigue. If you grew up skating only vulc you can still run whatever insole works best for you personally. I run sb dunks only. Xtended Wear insoles swap. I skate an 8.00" board with 7.75" trucks most days, 52mm wheel. It's light and flips fast. If I was a slappy lord I'd probably run something wider with more truck.
@CpSkates2 ай бұрын
@haroldcampos9661 I think I finally dedicated to 8.5 inch. 8.25 truck, but I do want to change them out soonish for 8.5 hollow. 56 mm wheels. So my board is bigger and heavier, but I've only had maybe 10- 15 flip tricks at one time. I've always been better at 360 and shuv tricks. So I hope my future can include some tech tricks but focused more around what we've seen in the 90s and early 2000s. Like front shuv nose grinds.

@@CpSkates The rubber isn't soft enough to grip, happens to a lot of low-end cupsole skate shoes. Sometimes it's not the tread pattern causing the issue. The compound of the rubber they use just isn't good for skateboarding. Circa, DVS, they all suffered from this exact problem frequently enough. Vulcanizing makes very grippy shoes consistently with ease and low costs, but they wear a bit faster. The heat exposure changes the material slightly to be less abrasion resistant. Not bad, but not great.
@CpSkates2 ай бұрын
@@haroldcampos9661 the rubber actually feel good, there has been a few times I've fallen because the shoe sticks like gum. The only issue I seem to have was since the band of the sole is so big that contacts the grip rather than the suede. I'll will agree with you in some aspects of that. When I went to prosthetics place I asked how long a pair lasted and they told me about 7 years. Of course comparing that to a pair I had for 10 years it was a rip off. I'm sure the high cost is because of all the fancy tech they used to scan my legs and back. After wearing them for a few years the pain has been drastically cut down. There was a point I considered going on partial disability where I would work 20 hours a week. I felt that wasn't right if I still wanted to skate. These can keep me on my feet for about 12 hours before I need to rest. It's a mix of comfort and durability. I do want to try FP shoes because the out sole takes away impact, but they are pricey.
