Just bought the same one a couple weeks ago... Media arrived today, so i will be blasting soon. What size compressor are you using out of curiousity? Nice job bud

Thanks! the compressor im using is not one id recommend, Im getting by with an old small craftsman 15 gallon. It has enough PSI but it constantly runs when i use it.

I just almost the exact same one at Princess Auto here in Canada. It came preassembled and siliconed on sale for $130 Canadian. It doesn't come with the light, but it has the switch for it. They changed the design of the top window to fit into the frame with two rotating latches (on on each side) to keep it secure. For the price, I can't really complain about it.

I have on these. First thing was, the latch broke in the first year. But now you cant get the blast sheets for the window, or a replacement window. Eastwood now has huge supply problems.

I have the bigger harbor freight unit and it was such a great investment! I do a lot of brake jobs and the blast cabinet helps me knock out those brake jobs quickly by not having to use a file anymore where the pads go to get the rust off. 👍

Looks like a great little cabinet. The lack of sealant is a huge downside though because heaven forbid someone puts it together and thinks they don't need it. Done a lot of blasting and the most important thing I can say about it is do NOT underestimate the mess and issues involved with media. Do yourself a huge favor and take a few extra steps to find all the leaks when you're done with assembly. It's really easy, you'll only have to do it once, and you'll be glad you did. After your initial sealant is cured, completely seal off the outlet for the vacuum, close the lid and turn on your air to pressurize the cabinet (don't go crazy, a few psi will be plenty). Get a spray bottle with soapy water and spray every edge, seam, and connection that could possibly have a leak and look closely for bubbles (this indicates a leak). Make note of every spot that's leaking, wipe off all the soapy water, turn off the air, and seal up all the leaks. After the sealant cures... no, you're not done yet. You're going to get your spray bottle and do the process again until there are no leaks anywhere. I'm sure there are plenty out there that will say "Bah! That's overkill. A few tiny leaks never hurt anyone." Actually... it can. Because it is a blaster after all, the material around a leak will get eaten away eventually, making it bigger and bigger over time and even a small leak can make a huge mess. If you think the dusty mess is no big deal, let's see you say that after you've logged 40 hrs of sweeping that you could've been doing something else if you didn't have leaks. Also, you missed a spot... look again and you'll see that the dust isn't going to be polite enough to confine itself to the floor. It -will- end up on -everything- from top to bottom. Speaking of dust everywhere, this dust will be a combination of the media you're using and tiny bits and pieces of what you've been blasting off of your projects. Regardless of what you're working on it can be a serious health hazard (I have a coworker who had to have several lung surgeries because of it) So if you care about your family and avoiding medical bills later, do everything you can to properly contain and dispose of it.

It works so good probably better using vac when your blasting but very curious what cfm is the compressor you used
@easy-upmoldings14944 жыл бұрын
Where do you put in the media? Also, if anyone knows, what media would be best for sandblasting wood?
@davidut553 жыл бұрын
Got one that looks the same, i use aluminum oxide and the bottom is too shallow. Pickup tube runs out of media with one 25kg bag of media in. I will have to cut and modify to have more depth so media can flow to the bottom. Another weak point is the light, it is just too weak.

Now that you have had it for a while what do you think of it? How long can you blast with your current compressor and what CFM is it rated for?
@PoorManMods2 жыл бұрын
The cabinet is great, it's perfect for a DIYer but my compressor is too small, it works but ok for smaller and quick jobs but ideally I think I'd want atleast a 40 gallon compressor
@jsklaver2 жыл бұрын
@@PoorManMods The key on that is the CFM of the compressor and the CFM requirements of the gun. East Wood usually has a 7 CFM gun that comes with their cabinets. My 21 Gallon 4 CFM compressor can only run the 7 CFM gun for about 1.5 minutes. I heard your compressor kick on pretty soon in the video.

I don’t know if it’s wise to powder coat a cam shaft. Usually they’re bare metal and shouldn’t rust because they’re coated in oil inside an engine. I’d be worried that coating it is going to interfere with things such as valve timing and clearances. My .02c

You got your fittings backwards. Tools and accessories, use male connector. Hose uses male on one end female on the other. Now if you unhook, then way you have it configured, your compressor will be pissing out air

You want to run the vacuum while you are blasting. All that air coming in from the gun needs to go out somewhere. Pull it out with the vacuum and hook up or make a dust deputy to save the filters on your shop vac.
@tonydevitonyc4 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Leaks are inevitable air has to come out to accommodate the 10 com you are pumping in and that filter didn't at the back doesn't look very efficient. I imagine you would lose some media but it's cheaper than lungs.
