I've bought a new bike without a test ride | Hypermotard 950SP first ride

It was time to move my old Ducati 1198S on and replace it with something more fun. I've had a very brief ride on a standard Ducati Hypermotard 950, but not the SP. So I did what any sensible person would do and ordered an SP… the one I haven't ridden. Join me for my very first gentle(ish) ride…

Im late to the party, congrats on the bike! :) I just bought my first road bike earlier this month :D 2020 husqvarna 701 supermoto, got a killer deal on a brand new one :P Got 15 years dirtbike experience, so a supermoto really fit me well, even tho I would love to get a sportsbike eventually and go for a few trackdays etc :D I dropped a sub! great vid :)

Brilliant review dude ! I ride the bmw f900xr for commuting and I own a Speed tripleRS and honestly the bmw is not as much fun but it’s better to ride just because it’s comfortable, you can literally ride it anywhere, the Triumph is amazing but you have to focus ALL time ie there’s no chill time, hard to explain but 180 bhp might sound good but in reality mmmm I’m not so sure 😂

I just done exactly what you did (except I paid for mine. lol) - Coming off a MV Agusta RC and X-Diavel before that - the Hyper is hyper fun... and quality built too! No regrets so far. Turn DWC OFF and 3rd gear wheelies all the way!!! ;)

Gaz Van Dyk my riding mate Tom has a Multi 950S - we swapped bikes for a bit at the weekend. To be honest I got far less wind noise on the Hypermotard, I think I’m too tall for the Multi’s screen. He was giggling on my Hyper - it’s far louder as standard and much more aggressive throttle response. The turn-in is a tiny bit slower on the hyper, weirdly, but the chassis is far more composed and encourages you to ride faster!

i rode the 2023 monster a few weeks back. And although i have seen these in the show room, they are pretty tall, so i haven't really thought twice about them. This said, I think I will have to take one out and see for myself. PS I am from the abinger area originally, so i am familiar with many of the roads you were riding.

@@timrodierides yea fair enough each to their own! I thought the same about clear clutch...But I went all black to keep it subtle with a small red pressure plate and it changed my mind completely. But also beware of the stock clutch case if you wear boots it scuffs and bakes in.

I'm expecting a new Hypermotard 950 RVE to arrive for me here in Australia next month sometime. I've already got a bunch of goodies waiting in my garage for it. I see the carbon fairing, rizoma fuel cap and performance LED rear indicators on yours. Did I miss anything? Did you have those put on or did your dealer spec it up that way?

Nice one! The RVE looks pretty groovy, but I wanted the extra height of the SP (and I'm a bit of a tart). I've got what Ducati called the Style pack - it's the carbon fairing, rizoma fuel cap, carbon rear hugger, carbon tank pad and a billet fuel pump cover. The LED indicators aren't part of that pack, but I added them on, and I've got the heated grips coming. The dealer put them all on as part of the pre-delivery inspection.

@@timrodierides I couldn't see those other style pack bits on your video. The pack does save money over buying the items separately. I've got the style pack and sport pack ready to go on plus heated grips, DMS, some Evotech bits and a few other items (I'll fit it all myself). My budget is way blown but it will have bought a lot of enjoyment I'm sure. I've been drooling over the 950 SP for a year but the RVE really appealed to me so I locked it in.

the b road you rude was pretty bad surface how was the suspension feeling ? i am thinking of getting one too :D lol

The suspension is kinda firm, but in a controlled sense. You can really lean on the front end and you feel as if you can lean it over for days without getting kicked off your cornering line by bumps. The standard bike is good too, but doesn't rail around corners with quite as much confidence as the SP.

I am 6'4" and like yourself have found myself being introduced to the hypermotad. Was good to find your video and you mentioning you're 6'3". Just wondering how the ride is after 1.5 - 2 hours. How cramped are you on the bike? Hoping the pegs are fairly low reducing your knee angle. Any advice you can give a fellow giant would be grateful 🙂

Cool Great bike I have the 939sp. But this thing in the wet is a nightmare. Ok go to wet mode. Still way too powerful. Slip outs and to power on no thank you. But in the dry another story. Speeding tickets are always on the go. Still love the bitch and we have a good understanding of each other which is the joy. R

Hey! I'm 6'3" and can flat foot it - it is a very tall bike though. The non-SP model feels about an inch or two lower

Foster Koranteng It’s pretty decent - it’s far louder than my friend’s Multistrada 950. I’ve no real desire to make it any louder. You get the odd pop on a downshift, and on a wide open throttle it has a decent roar

Hey im looking at one of these right now how is it without a fuel guage ? Also hows the seat height im 5'7 this thing only sits 2 inches higher than my k5 gsxr 600

Hey - it's fine without a fuel gauge (I'm used to not having one). I just reset the trip every time I fill up - it seems to get about 100-120 miles before the light comes on. I think you might struggle at 5'7" though. The non-SP version is a few inches shorter. I'm 6'3" and sometimes struggle to get my leg over it! Once you're sitting on it it feels lower

I am 5 8 and have the SP with the lower seat. It is perfect. As long as you are used to higher bikes, dirt bikes and such.

TIGNUSO DRUMMER good question! It’s a billet Rizoma fuel cap which is part of the Style Pack - an option I picked when buying the bike. The style pack adds a bunch of carbon fibre bits and a billet water pump cover
