The final shot looks like a story book illustration that fades away into the rest of the page. I know that's not the vibe you'd intended, but it's a lovely effect.

Nice build George. I use chaos black from a rattle can as a really flat black. It is a paint that war gamers use to prime their figurines. It works a charm for getting that black black look. Thanks for your video, entertaining and inspiring as usual. Cheers, Daniel🚂🚂🚂

Lovely little (long) coaches! I really hope they come out in larger scales one day as well as in 009

Glad you’ve made these. I’ve got them part painted. I kind of did it how you did; I sprayed them red but then hand painted the brown and the black. The beading makes a useful guide for the brush. It’s also kind of Fourdees to give you tank traps for when you model Fairbourne! Mine didn’t have the internal supports though.

Yeah they’re well designed, I look forward to building more by them in the future

Nice to see these made! I've done several of their carriages (including a rake of Ffestiniog 'barns'), and I'm aiming to model these at some point!

Yeah they’re great kits, have fun!

They look stunning. Had to watch this twice as I was painting some ModelU loco crews up.

Happy with that, watch it a third time if you want 😂

I may just do that. 🤣

Looking great! My friend has the 9 and 10 set and is unhappy with how the bogies attach to the body. Personally i agree with him, but that doesnt negate the fact that they still look lovely!
@GWilliamsonModels4 күн бұрын
What’s the issue you’re finding? I didn’t see a problem when I built them, and they run like a charm
@Legomastr3654 күн бұрын
@GWilliamsonModels my issue is really just the way the bogies are mounted by a resin clip. I personally would prefer a screw for ease of maintenance/repair. The clip method feels very out of date and could risk being broken should the bogies need to be removed for whatever reason

A Tinnie in Oz is not only a small open (usually aluminium) boat, but also a term for canned beer. The context will inform as to which tinnie is referred to. P.S. The fourdees kits look well thought out enabling a quality outcome
@GWilliamsonModels4 күн бұрын
Yes I originally thought they meant a beer, but they were talking about ‘getting in the tinny’ on a fishing trip, first I’d heard it!

They really look the part and the black wash really makes the beading pop

You’ve really spoiled us with your standard of work. I was looking at the new Bachmann 009 Tal-y-Llyn loco and coaches at Trainfest in Milwaukee last weekend and all I could think was. “They’re not as good as George’s models”
@GWilliamsonModels2 күн бұрын
That’s kind of you to say, cheers!

you could try, spaying mat varnish over the masking, before the contrasting colour to stop the blead under
@bdlii4 күн бұрын
I learned this technique for another contrasting paint project as a way to get crisp lines and it really does work well.
@GWilliamsonModels4 күн бұрын
Yes good idea, I will have to remember that

Great work on those coaches, George 👍. When I do black washes, I feel your pain. You spend ages getting the paint job perfect only to dowse it in watered down black paint, wondering if you've just made a big mistake.
@GWilliamsonModels4 күн бұрын
Yes, every time. But it always seems to improve the look of the stock, so I’ll keep going with it!
@modelrailfan374 күн бұрын
These look fantastic as always! Can’t wait to see the next video on the layout! Out of curiosity, why do you do the black wash if you don’t like doing it? I get for Corrish as an example since that layout was depicting a railway that was about to close, but your Talyllyn layout is set in present day, which is preservation where all the stock is frequently cleaned and looks very shiny. It’s not per say a criticism, just something I’ve been wondering.
@GWilliamsonModels3 күн бұрын
No, it’s a valid point. Even though it’s present day, stock isn’t that clean - and this is autumn. But it’s less that. More that it adds a layer of detail that the stock seems to need. Without the wash, they just look to ‘model’
@modelrailfan373 күн бұрын
@ that’s fair, I’ve always thought the present day stock is mostly clean, but after looking at some photos that definitely is not the case! Thanks for pointing this out!

Great job with the coaches. Been waiting for another rolling stock one. I did these two about a year ago. Still have one or two things to get them done. Like the glazing. When will four dees do all the other boggy stock. For I'm eagerly waiting them when ever the day comes. Great job once more. Cheers

Cheers, I’ve got a few rolling stock videos coming up, one being quite unexpected..
