Why not just put it in a backpack? I have a way bigger board and I've bought a bag for it in a skate store and carry it everywhere I need. Waaay more convenient than leaving it somewhwre IMO.

Hi Lok, Have you considered buying from the Apple refurb section (scroll to bottom of header screen) and buy last year's MBP 13 Retina 2015? Refurb computers from Apple are top notch. New battery, often new screen, you can't tell the difference. It also has the full 1 year warranty and you can still get Apple Care added. Free shipping and return if you're not happy within 14 days. Plus last year's MBP 13 still has all the ports you want and need for today, not in 2 years, and you save about 25-30% on similarly spec'd MBP 2016.

I've an 8 gb RAM 13 inch MacBook Pro. It still renders wideo pretty fast :)

MacBook Air 2011, 4 GB RAM here. My only machine for all my videos. Renders 720p just fine. 1080p also ok, but takes much longer. Biggest problem is the 256 GB SSD drive btw, too small !

most of the rendering work is done on the cpu and with more recent programs, on the gpu (NVIDIA cuda, ATI stream). The editing arangements and previews neet more ram than the rendering. Same for photo editing. SSD is more important, especially with all the random reads in all the source files. On the T440 +nvidia, there was much difference between the 4gb it came with and the 8gb i upgraded it with the next day. Another 8gb didnt change rendering much, but editing is much smoother now. Replacing the dvdrom for another SSD was very usefull indeed. Ram is not that expensive, get as much upgrade as you can

couple things 1. congrats on the job! 2. why don't you get a last year's version of the MacBook pro? From the reviews I've seen, the computer is still very fast. One with a 3.1 GHz i7, 16gb ram, and a 128gb SSD is about 13970 hkd on BandH (as well as an SD card reader for uploading vlog fottage). anyways, keep up the amazing work and can't wait for what you do next!

It's gonna be one of the fastest laptops you can get for under 14000 hkd. plus the battery life is better then on the new MacBook!
