Great show Richard..... British steak all the way!! We need to stop all the beef imports coming into our UK... The processing plants should be banned from imports, which are holding down the price of our home grown beef!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

We don’t sell the steaks alone Daniel, they come as part of a Dexter beef freezer pack. Packs average 17-20 kg and cost £12.50 per kilo. It’s all grass reared, slaughtered. Hung (for at least 28 days) and butchered locally. We don’t use antibiotics or chemical wormer etc unless we really have to and we regularly finish the cattle after thirty months to do a proper job.

Is that a general practice in UK that beef cow's don't get any grain? Just gras and silage ? Or just for Dexters?
@FarmerP
@FarmerP 4 жыл бұрын
jacky bruckers Plenty of beef farms in the UK feed grain based diets to supplement the bulk feeds like grass and silage, but these will be mainly big continental breeds that farmers are forced to finish within 30 months of age. I am happy for my Dexters to go over age and finish when they are ready, as long as they are under 48 months when they go to slaughter. Rearing cattle to fat them slower in my opinion produces a much happier animal that also finishes to a better standard. I give my calves and steers about half a pound of a mixed cattle blend grain and nut mix twice a day in the Winter months just to keep their backs flat, it also helps to keep them a lot calmer when I walk through them, they are pleased to see me. 🐂🙂👍
