Watch the first clip from #TheBeatlesGetBack and experience Peter Jackson’s three-part event beginning November 25 on #DisneyPlus.
The Disney+ original docuseries, directed by Peter Jackson, will be arriving on Disney+ just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Made entirely from never-before-seen, restored footage, it provides the most intimate and honest glimpse into the creative process and relationship between John, Paul, George, and Ringo ever filmed. Be sure to check them both out, and don’t forget to watch “The Beatles: Get Back” when it rolls out over three days, November 25, 26, and 27, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.
Directed by three-time Oscar®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson (“The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “They Shall Not Grow Old”), “The Beatles: Get Back” takes audiences back in time to the band’s January 1969 recording sessions, which became a pivotal moment in music history. The docuseries showcases The Beatles’ creative process as they attempt to write 14 new songs in preparation for their first live concert in over two years. Faced with a nearly impossible deadline, the strong bonds of friendship shared by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr are put to the test. The docuseries is compiled from nearly 60 hours of unseen footage shot over 21 days, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg in 1969, and from more than 150 hours of unheard audio, most of which has been locked in a vault for over half a century. Jackson is the only person in 50 years to have been given access to this Beatles treasure trove, all of which has now been brilliantly restored. What emerges is an unbelievably intimate portrait of The Beatles, showing how, with their backs against the wall, they could still rely on their friendship, good humor, and creative genius. While plans derail and relationships are put to the test, some of the world’s most iconic songs are composed and performed. The docuseries features - for the first time in its entirety - The Beatles’ last live performance as a group, the unforgettable rooftop concert on London’s Savile Row, as well as other songs and classic compositions featured on the band’s final two albums, Abbey Road and Let It Be.
An exciting new collaboration between The Beatles and Jackson presented by The Walt Disney Studios in association with Apple Corps Ltd. and WingNut Films Productions Ltd., “The Beatles: Get Back” is directed by Peter Jackson, produced by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon, Olivia Harrison, Peter Jackson, Clare Olssen (“They Shall Not Grow Old”) and Jonathan Clyde (“Eight Days a Week”), with Apple Corps’ Jeff Jones (“Eight Days a Week”) and Ken Kamins (“The Hobbit” trilogy) serving as executive producers. Jabez Olssen (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”) serves as the film’s editor, the music supervisor is Giles Martin (“Rocketman”), Michael Hedges (“The Adventures of Tintin”) and Brent Burge (“The Hobbit” trilogy) serve as the series re-recording mixers, and the music is mixed by Giles Martin and Sam Okell (“Yesterday”).

Just saw him perform tonight... the man's an amazingly genuine and emotional artist, with a subtle, understated genius for songwriting and music in general, but so humble, never big-notes himself... but when he talks about John Lennon, and then he does THIS SONG, with John's voice on a backing track that they digitally separated out with AI... and then he says "Can you imagine what that's like for me? I mean, all of a sudden, I'm singing with John again, and even though it's virtual, I'm singing with *John* again... Serious stuff..." it fairly broke my fucking heart just to realise how much he deeply, truly misses his dear friend John. 😭 RIP John. We miss you... dream on. ☁️

Go to Liverpool before you leave this planet. Walk the streets, see their homes. Meet the everyday people who live there. Go to the cavern club. Take the magic mystery tour. Go to the museum. I’ve done this twice and will do it again. We toured the childhood homes of John and Paul which truly was surreal. We did a private tour with Jackie Spencer, born and raised in Liverpool. She knows everything Beatles. Amazing experience. We stayed at Hard Day’s Night Hotel which is steps away from Mathew Street and the Cavern Club. Beautiful city, the best people, amazing artists/murals in the Baltic Triangle. Truly a great experience.

@@susanbruening8302 They were just finishing the hotel when we were there. We stayed in London right near to this really beautiful building across from Hyde Park.I went up and looked at closer. It was the Royal Albert Hall. I felt sooooooo stooooopid.Super stupid actually. We took the train to Liverpool which was a blast. We were there during a bizarre heat wave when we went. So it was shorts, polo shirts, t-shirts, tennis shoes ( NO BASEBALL CAPS! SHOW SOME RESPECT PEOPLE!) It was beautiful there. Absolutely beautiful in every respect. I finally realized it was probably always cold, damp, foggy, rainy, dreary most of the time for their entire youth. Plus bomb shelters still around, reminders of a horrible war. Little things.... Not sunny warm days, beautiful white puffy clouds...We didn't get the tours of the inside of their homes. Just the outside of them. It was so very enjoyable. They even had a old flat wagon in the spot where John met Paul. It was a magical moment that gave my wife and I goose bumps. There were many times on the tour people were brought to tears. We were two who did, many times. The people? The people who worked the shops and drove the taxis were special. They were kind, classy and proud of their city and it's past. A taxi driver wouldn't take my tip because it was to much money. I informed him my wife was a nurse, I installed computers at the time. We were just working people just like him. We saved up for this trip and he deserved the tip. We were not rich arrogant Americans. He then took it, thanked us. Another wonderful experience in Liverpool. We want To go back and stay at the Beatles hotel. A happy healthy future to everyone. No need for a holiday. Just be kind to one another. Guess what? ITS EASY TO DO! LOVE TO ALL!

I’m glad about the six hour three chapter version on Disney Plus but I deeply wish that Peter Jackson, the owners of the material and the right holders eventually compact those three chapters and format these into a two hour theatrical theater version that includes the full 42 minute rooftop concert! Maybe they could place that in theaters by the end of 2022. It would be fantastic experience to the senses!

The info and Peter Jackson says that the Twickenham sessions were filmed with only two 16mm cameras. However, in the 1.26m clip I counted 10 different camera angles. I doubt there were more than two cameras. So this was filmed over multiple runs allowing for enough coverage to be able to cut interesting angles and shots. This is proven by Ringo wearing a jacket in only one shot. In the other shots it hangs at his floor tom. Then there Ringo’s high hat tambourine, which is only visible in one shot, but not in all other shots! By the stupid question asked by Ringo at the end: ‘Is that one called I’ve got a feeling?’ we are led to believe this was the first run of the song. So thereby it is implied this was a continuous scene of a song in one take. Again most of the spoken dialogue and words, e.g. John’s ‘Great’, or Ringo’s question, is heard but not seen. And / or it is bad or non synchronically mouthed. Notice how after every visible spoken word there is an immediate cut to the next shot. We are not given the time to register whether the lip movement synced correctly with the spoken words. It is known that sound enters consciousness before image. So if the image is not quite right, the brain fills in the missing image with the milliseconds before registered sound. Wizard Peter Jackson knows this movie fact like no other and uses it very cleverly here. Many texts that we think we see being spoken here, however, are not on the screen. If is all contrived and clever editing. It is the Beatles Show...

Thanks for your comments. You're right. In addition, there's a jacket on John's chair at 1:05 that isn't there in the first part. The music doesn't match the film at all, except for the clip of Paul singing. It's all built around that.

@@duderama6750 when you switch the YT English subtitles on, every speaker's name is shown. Normally with automated or synced subtitles, YT never shows these names. YT doesn't come up with these names by itself, these have been written beforehand. Sometimes even when when a voice is off camera, e.g. in the Disney trailer, the name of Michel Lindsay-Hogg or Glyn Johns do appear in the subtitles. So there too, these have been typed out beforehand. --- In the end it doesn't really matter, does it? It's all a show, nothing is real...
