Paul Lynde: "[I play] a father (crowd laughs hysterically)...I know it's hard to believe." Steve Allen (embarrassed): "We all have to go sometime...Well, Paul, If you'll whisper your secret..uhh, to ME..." 'Thought I was going to die laughing!!!

Capt Marvel, smart, intelligent, definitely a man who was going places. I hope he had a long successful career.

Meredith MacRae was my first true TV crush as a young teenager. I used to hang on every scene that she appeared in when she was on Petticoat Junction. Of course, Edgar Buchanan always made me laugh. He was a hoot. Yes, Meredith was all that.

I know, it’s obvious that they were friends. And Richard did a lot of of impressions of Paul Lynde on Match Game and Family Feud. Both were the main reasons to watch M.G and H.S.

This show was syndicated in 1972, but lasted for about one season, but I'm not sure. It was hosted by Steve Allen. The opening music was "This Could Be the Start of Something Big" which was also done by Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme. It was not that bad than the original with Gary Moore.
@moontheloon59 жыл бұрын
Gary Moore was not the original hot of TTTT; Bud Collyer was. Gary was the original host of I've Got A Secret.

Paul Lynde was so funny and talented. Really sad he died so young. Anyone know the story of him?

The Captain Marvel secret was funny. I didn't peak at the answer and tried to guess along, but I didn't think of it being so simple.

I always thought Paul Lynde and actress Alice Ghostley should have been cast as siblings on a sit come. she looked like him, behaved like him, and had a voice like his. i think they would have been a fab comedy team. wow....i just looked up Alice Ghostley and found a clip called "YES - Alice Ghostley IS Paul Lynde" ... i wasn't alone in comparing them :-D unfortunately, the movie "Rabbit Test" this clip and another one were taken from is pretty tacky.

Oh yeah, we all knew Paul Lynde had a secret!
@Newton14alan6 жыл бұрын
Marshal Tenner Winter --- 'Seems so obvious now but, I swear, that back in the day, it never even occurred to me that Paul Lynde was gay. Maybe it was because I was young. I don't know. There were plenty of other gay stars, back then...but, I didn't know THEY were gay either. ...Except for Rip Taylor. With Rip Taylor, it wasn't just "obvious" that he was gay. It was "bleeding obvious". If Rip Taylor had been any "gayer", he would've started flapping his wrists, and flown up into the rafters. What must be said is that the two were, both, great performers, and funny as hell! I haven't seen the likes of them since.

Did him hiding his gay secret result in his death? Wasnt it suicide?

If everyone knew, why didn’t People magazine mention it when it ran a cover story on Paul Lynde? Clearly the magazine’s staff believed a lot of people did not and should not know.

Pat Carroll was laughing so hard after Paul said he played a father on his show because????? IMO, she knew his sexual preference. It was said most in show business knew but never said anything.
