This was a new Jonathan Winters clip for me. I knew that he was a marine, but it was impressive to see how well he gave orders. Thanks.

Garry Moore on one IGAS anniversary show I think when Bill Cullen complimented Garry and Henry Morgan said he has too much fun to get paid to do IGAS; Garry acknowledged both comments and added something to the effect = "and some time its hard work " This show would be a good example (the best I've seen) of one of those shows - the female liontamer doing a nationally televised stunt for the first time with a lion that has not done it before; an ill-prepared, soft-spoken mumbling Capt Anderson, Master no less of a large fishing vessel; leaning heavily on Garry to interpret his responses in order to get through the segment and the organized chaos created by the likeable good-humored Jonathan Winters. Production should have had the vessel's Chief Mate stand in, or perhaps the Captains of both vessels. 2 of 3 segments a nightmare for any panel game show host.

There's something strange about the boat captain (no, not just his mumbling), Turnis Anderson, of Point Pleasant, NJ, who says he 'caught' the nuclear submarine, U.S.S. Nautilus, in his fishing net, "a few years ago." I watched this episode last night, and I was curious, so I did a little internet research...according to an article from 4/27/1962, posted on the website of the (Martha's) Vineyard Gazette, the U.S.S. Nautilus was, in fact, once caught in a fishing boat's net, HOWEVER, there are several inconsistencies between what was said on this show, & what's reported in the article, starting with, the name of the fishing boat's captain - Capt. George H. Fisher of Oak Bluffs. 🤔 The article then reports (and you can look this up for yourself, folks, I just don't think I can post a link here, but the article is titled, "Fisherman Comes Up with Largest Catch of This or Any Season") that, unlike the story told on the show (which starts at 11:38), "a violent jerk on the nets nearly spun the boat about. The skipper of the undersea craft appeared, identified himself as Lt. Comdr. L. W. Zech of the Nautilus, ordered the crew to clear away the nest, and cautioned Captain Fisher to remain silent about the incident. Then the Nautilus disappeared once more into fog and darkness." Quite a different tale, from the one Mr. Anderson tells, eh? Also, this episode originally aired Monday, 4/16/1962, presumably live. The Vineyard Gazette article is dated Friday, 4/27/1962, and references the incident as having happened, "last Thursday," which could either mean the day before, 4/26/1962, or, more likely, 4/19/1962, so....live or not, how did someone whose name does not match the boat captain's name (in the only news article about this, which I could find) come on a show, to tell a similar, but not exactly the same story, about an incident which didn't happen till at least three days after the show aired?! If you can explain this to me, please, please do, I'm really puzzled by it. It's one thing for the producers or bookers of the show to be snookered by a fraud, it's another to have someone on, who could talk about something which, apparently, hadn't happened yet. And while fishing boats 'catching' submarines is not as rare a phenomenon as one would hope, I found no evidence that this happened to the Nautilus more than once (and I was able to independently verify at least one fact in the Gazette's article - the name of the sub commander, and that he was replaced in April 1962). Interestingly, the way Gary tells the story here, matches up almost exactly with an incident between a fishing boat in Irish waters, and a sub...except that incident happened in 2015! (from Mirror's article titled, "Fishing trawler seconds from tragedy after being dragged down by 'Russian submarine' caught in nets") I also couldn't find any evidence of a "Carlson" or "Carlsen" Fisheries out of Point Pleasant, NJ, though they may be out of business by now, & just not have an internet 'footprint.' FYI, there is a Carlson Fishery, in business since 1904, but it's based in Michigan.

This was from 1962, so it was 18 years before " Friday the 13th ".

Judging by the set and the set, I would say late 1961 or early 1962.
