She was in the movie "Strangers on a Train" as Robert Walker's character's mother & she was befuddled & dense in that role as well. I've always loved Marion Lorne. It wasn't a much of a stretch for her to play 'Aunt Clara' on BEWITCHED. Aunt Clara's doorknob collection actually came from Marion's personal collection.... of doorknobs! She was also a regular cast member of the Wally Cox series MR. PEEPERS, which aired live in the early '50's. She played Mrs. Gurney.

Talented has he may have been, let us give credit to where it is due. "Tenderly" was written by Jack Lawrence. And, in no way does Troup come even close to the great Walter Donaldson (February 15, 1893 - July 15, 1947), "Makin" Whoopee", an American prolific popular songwriter and publishing company founder, composing many hit songs of the 1910s to 1940s, that have become standards and form part of the Great American Songbook. (See Wikipedia entry.)

Ms. Lorne was delightful. And the college act was a hoot (a cute hoot), although by his seemingly dour expression Henry Morgan did not appear to agree.

Not sure why sour Henry Morgan had a superiority complex. Never clapped & patronising/snarky to females on the panel next to him.

Aunt Clara is so cute and she was my favorite character on the show. She was in the show Bewitched. 😊 She was a great collector of door knobs and she had over 3000 of them. She collected antique items and unique pieces of door knobs from some very famous places around the world. 😊

That first skit was probably not controversial and really funny at the time. I see Mr. Morgan wasn't a fan, but he was known to be a bigot who died from those cigarettes he subjected his colleagues to (killed Gary too). Of course here in Florida, gov DeSantis would ban even the re-playing of this clip on our airways even in 2023 for men in dresses, or being whatever he didn't like about it (it's okay for women to wear pants though). But for the rest of us, it's good to know good comedy lives on and they really tried hard.
