True Story: about 10 or 11 years ago, my 4yo daughter and I were getting on a plane and there was Ray Charles in first class with all of his people around him. I conjured up the courage to say "Hi Mr. Charles, good to meet you, this is my daughter Alexis." He goes, well, she is just the prettiest little girl I have ever SEEN." The whole airplane erupted with laughter. My daughter innocently asked me why everyone was laughing, she didn't know he was blind. He made time for common people.

That's a day you and your daughter will cherish did you have the courage to ask for is autograph or take a picture with him LoL 🖼️😅😅😅
@1blsАй бұрын
@@TankTJames It always comes up at family events. I did in fact ask for his autograph, but his manager I am guessing, said when we get off the play he will sign for you. But since I was in the cheap seats, they got off the plane well before we did. Didn’t matter, like you said, we cherish the memory and Ray was such a sweetheart.

I saw him a couple of times back in the 1970s. What's striking in viewing this performance is that he never lost his edge..that supreme energy that he possessed. He was a unique and great talent..one of a kind.

(Gracias a José Luis Martinez Clares) ...

Brother Ray Charles was strung on heroin for years but last years of his life he kicked the habit could turkey. Just watch the movie RAY for the details. what remains is that with or without drugs in his system he was and will always be one of the greatest musicians we had on this planet. That is just my opinion. peace and love to you all.

after he died, we have very little musical genius left the ones i can think of is aretha franklin and stevie wonder excuse me but im just thinking from the top of my head were running out soon we will have no real music left it well just be a world of justin bieber music

I'm not saying anyone is 'better' than anyone else. Music is not a competition. Sampling is an art, it requires as much dedication, hard work and understanding of music as any other instrument. Music Production is an art. This is the 21st century, it would be nice if people could love music of all genre's and ages, with enough research and understanding of an Artist you can make an informed decision whether or not they deserve the recognition they receive. Most of the time you can just hear it.
@19lionkingfan12 жыл бұрын
Im a kid, and I love the oldies, but that shouldn't matter. Kids come on here, state their age and then start bashing "todays music". Just shut up! Appreciate the music that you came here to listen to, the music that you should be enjoying. Because complaining about it, sure as hell ain't gonna make it go away. All the comments I read come off as cocky. "We had have better music than you guys" crap. Yeah, we all know that! So let's shut up and lets enjoy the music!
@MagicMushroomie12 жыл бұрын
if anyone saw a movie about this artist they would agree with me that when he has to walk or anything else its like hes been blind for a few weeks and is new at this (kinda scared of fast etc.) but when he plays...it seems he gets his sight back and not only that it seems he can fly faster than birds, swim faster than fish, go faster than a train. Wonderfull music and a magnificient person. Escuse me if i did any grammar mistakes or something.
@MrYoubrian13 жыл бұрын
I have always appreciated ray for being a brilliant singer, songwriter, musician and businessman. But after seeing the movie "Ray", I am in awe of his strength to commit to a lifelong struggle to fight his inner demons. He had the strength of ten men. I used to make the teens at a drug rehab where I worked, watch this movie (much to the dismay of the professional staff of therapist). There were alot of life lessons in that movie, any struggle can be overcome. See you when I get there Ray.

Doctor: "You seem to be suffering from severe hypothermia and your toes are frostbitten. Your case is unusual because we are in the middle of summer. Now tell me, what have you been doing in the past 3 days to cause such a thing?" Me: "Well, I was online yesterday and I saw this live performance of I've Got A Woman..."
@nuthinbutachump12 жыл бұрын
not to say that you can compare the two cause ray is a legend, but it's inaccurate to say he wrote his songs. Ray did not write many of his hits such as 'the mess around', 'georgia on my mind', hit the road jack' 'I cant stop loving you'. Ray, however, did do more for music than most if not all of todays musicians will ever do
