Your 23 with plenty of time! The right one will come you way! Just give it time. I'm a big rail and bus fan and my wife was not! Yet she go to events with me and fully support my hobby. Don't knock yourself and work on things bit by bit. Work on your drivers license, look for work and then focus on relationships. I'm sure you definitely got what it takes to complete your goals. Keep your head up and be strong.

You are completely correct about the world being a crazy mess and I only fear that things will get worse. I guess we just have to keep our chins up and try and stay positive.

I spiritually and mentally relate to what you've said here. Even with attempting... I'm so sorry that you're feeling/experiencing all of this man. I'm a 26 year old Man from the UK (London specifically) and suffering from depression, no luck with Women whatsoever (Haven't even had my first kiss or... anything...), doesn't believe I'm worth anything because of the way many have treated me (even "Family") no friends at all now because people are beyond narcissistic, arrogant, rude, selfish, always have an agenda and not genuine whatsoever. You tell others about how you feel, to then only hear that "things will get better. You're only young, bla bla bla" You get the point. So I really understand you. The point is, you're not alone with how you're feeling. I'm a complete stranger to you, but I'm proud of you. As it takes guts to admit to how you're mentally feeling. Especially on social media.

I will say that my current situation isn’t that much different from yours. I don’t have a job and I rely on Social Security for money. But I do at least have a drivers license and even my own car. The main thing holding me back from being successful is this awful economy we live in right now. It’s just too hard to make good money. But hopefully someday we get people in power that actually want to make the world a better place rather than destroy it. Despite this I keep up a positive attitude and enjoy the good things in life. I also have friends on Discord that I talk to almost everyday. I also hope to have a partner someday although that’s not a priority of mine right now.

While I’m in a couple of transport discord servers I got bullied out of one just for my profile pic. I went back and exposed them for it and they still don’t recognise that what they did was wrong. It’s things like this that make my worry that less and less people actually have brains and know how to get along with each other.

As a subscriber who has been for a little while, I will say that I really do releate to alot of what you said throughout the video and I really do hope all the best for you. One of the few ways I got friends in my area was joining my local model railway club, I accepted that yes, not everyone is gonna be my age (granted, I accepted that everyone was gonna be in their 70s while I was only an 18 year old no-clue person) but slowly over the years, younger people started joining the club (we are now 5 under 30 people) and we have all gotten a pretty tight friendshio iver the years as we all share the same love the hobby (and railfanning itsself). I know it's not gonna be the same case at every model railway club but from my experience, if just one young person is in a model railway club, more young people will join. Once again, I truly hope the best for you.

There's a miniature railway here in Tauranga. I used to volunteer there around 13 years ago, but I quit because everyone else was much older than me, and I thought they were very ageist. As for potentially joining similar clubs now, that's something I haven't really thought of.

Thanks for making this and sharing your thoughts, struggles, and your passions. I love the red and custard trolley at 4:16! I am sorry to hear about the near collision. I can empathize with the things you struggle with. The world is not ideal and it's not trending to improve. The things you mentioned... The education system, estranged friendships, life goals, dating, isolation, and feeling a sense of belonging are very real and very complex. I can't write a ton in a YT comment but know that I understand a similar pain, resignation, and frustration. The solution that I found useful is acknowledging dialectics, accepting my reality, being open to learning and practicing new things, and finding a way to validate and challenge myself at the same time. I send you best wishes and encourage you to keep going and not give up on your attempts to engage in the wider world. Rejection, amongst other things, is really difficult, but it only kills you if you avoid it. Approach the difficult things, fall down, be hurt, and notice you survive and that you have more courage and strength than you thought. Like a scientist, try "experiments" and try to glean some insights at what works and what doesn't. Thanks again and please keep determined that a life worth living is possible.

I don't normally comment, but I've been watching your recent vids and if possible, you should really see someone. I'm in a fairly similar boat, that being 23 and single, and what you're describing sounds a lot like depression. You really need to keep putting yourself out there. Depression is a negative feedback loop. You feel bad, so you don't go out, so you don't socialise, so you feel bad and repeat. This is something I unfortunatley know from experience and I can tell you that if you don't break the cycle it'll only get worse. Although I'm aware that it's easier said that done. I've had struggles with depression on and off since I was 15, and its one of those things that comes in peaks and troughs. So even if things suck now, they're not guaranteed to be that way forever. You should also try and avoid watching people like Brett Cooper, people like her prey on people like you to radicalise them into far-right ideologies, which doesn't help your dating/social prospects. I'd like to say I can't speak from experience on that, but I'd be lying. You're right to be angry about the world, it's currently broken, but people like her only lead you down the rabbit hole into worse and worse ideologies. Regardless, keep your head up. There's whole communities of cool people who are just as nerdy about trains as you. You just need to find them by getting out there. If you ever want to get in contact and talk about gunzeling, I'd be more than happy to chat. Also, you're spot on with radio edits being worse :)

I'm currently seeing a counsellor once a week, although I was initially skeptical about the idea. As for 'putting myself out there', I don't really know how to do that aside from something like going out to Coronation Park in Mount Maunganui; I've never been comfortable with going to pubs or wherever else our generation hangs out these days. As for the world 'gunzeling', I had to look up what that meant because I've never seen it before.

@@DC4260Productions Honeslty most people hang out, that's where I met a generous portion of the people I talk to on a daily basis. Otherwise it's a case of meeting people through local groups that are applicable to you. I met most of my irl friends through furry groups (Cringe, I know, but still). I really don't know what would be applicable to you, but it's one of the cases where you need to work it out independtly.

@@CityConnectionsMedia I’m going to have to disagree with you about Brett Cooper. She’s simply saying the things that should be said. I’m glad she’s here to bring some balance with how ridiculous the left wing are getting. I mean they don’t even know what a women is, and they think it’s okay for young children to mutilate themselves just because they like things of their opposite gender. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You may disagree with far right ideologies, but better far right than far left.

@Frowny13 I guess, unfortunately, that's depending on political views. However I'd claim it's not disputable that the far right uses anger and a tendency to blame others for your own bad situation, which is not helpful when being depressed, nor is it when looking for a romantic partner.

Mate, you have helped out so many people with your videos and are one of the only people who calls out Dovetail, that is something to be proud of. Since your videos have gained traction, I've noticed that DTG have recently been remastering an updating routes more recently. I know you believe that the Dovetail higher-ups don't watch your videos but I believe somone in the company has been watching since I've noticed an increased number of remastered old routes in the TSW 4 era. It is great to see routes like West Somerset Railway and Cathchart Circle transformed to modern standards. In terms of the other things you have stated in terms of friends a relationship I will say the following. First of all, you have to let go of friends who are too busy for you. It is really painful, I know, but they are not your true friends if they don't have time for you. Secondly, dating in my opinion is overrated. I'm like you single and never had a partner and I'm proud of it. The right one will come along and in the meantime you should do what you enjoy and makes you happy in life. Don't feel pressured into finding a partner. Your happiness is not dependent upon someonelse. I also agree with many of the others on here regarding Brett Cooper, I would avoid her like the plauge for the reasons allready given by @CityConnectionsMedia. I will also add that we have just had some awful far right riots that have taken place near my hometown in the UK that were incited by similar Right Wing personalities like her resulting in the mindless destruction of our towns and cities and criminal charges for the rioters. Please get out of that rabbit hole while you can, you're honestly much better off rideing the dodgy DTG wave. I will also add that you are doing many things right in life. You don’t drink or smoke and have some lovely pets that love you. These pets need to feature in more videos as they're so cute! Your area also looks beautiful and I enjoyed hearing about your trip out, we'd also love to hear more things about that too as New Zealand looks so beautiful! As I said previously keep up the great work with your videos, you are doing great and helping a lot of people. Your TSW videos are by far the best on this platform.

Someone's got to take one for the team where TSW is concerned, even though I feel like it's slowly driving me insane. As for the friends who are too busy, I know what you mean about them not being true friends. Some of them are still close (not in a literal sense), but as for the others, I still don't really know what to do.
@intercity234
@intercity234 2 ай бұрын
@DC4260Productions You have to let them go. Even if you have not been in touch with true friends for a while, they will still be there for you and happy to stay in touch. Sadly, these people are hard to come by. Regarding TSW, it is great that you are offering a critical perspective of DTG. However, you can not let their buisness practices get to you. I would advise enjoying the game for what it is and continuing to offer unbiased reviews to the community. I do believe that there are some people in the company who are listening and willing to slowly change given the recent number of remastered routes. BTW what your thoughts are on the Cathcart Circle remaster? It has recently become one of my favourites since the remaster and the 380 adding new service variety. I wasn't as fond of the old route as many others due to lack of service variety and mediocre scenery.
@DC4260Productions

@DC4260Productions IMO The scenery is really good on Cathcart Circle now, like WSR. It's a shame that the Nahverkehr Dresden and LIRR remasters were not quite as good. I find the sunlight too bright on Nahverkehr Dresden, and there are still some pretty crappy secenary assets on LIRR, although the Long Beach branch looks pretty good.

The old friends thing, some are transitory, others are for life. My advice having been through a few relationships is that you need to feel comfortable with yourself before, then find a new friends at, for example, a pub you feel comfortable going to or at small gigs. I married at the age of 35 and I'd advise anyone of your age that it's normal being single, it's normal to have casual s*xual encounters, it's normal to carry on having your freedom as long as you damn well want to. I've had 3 shorter relationships and one 20 year-long one. All were friends of mine long before we got together. Make new friends first, they will introduce you to other new people and one of them could be "the one". In the meantime, try your best to appreciate the freedom of not having any commitments, it's a sunny place that you'll look back on when you're my age (51).

You have a lifetime to meet a woman, and remember above all, save your money in a different town and always get a pre-nup agreement. A good woman is not after your $$$, but after your heart. Says this old fart. Learn this and be wise. Keep up the swearing too, it suits you, you get the point across. Wait too, till you get older, which brings wisdom. It's one of the better rewards of life. Boring eh. From a friend, from afar.

I think you should try meditation. You are very entrnched in your views of the world and expecting the universe to match your expectation (that's not meant as harshly as it sounds - we're all like this; me included for sure). Your pain is caused by a lack of perceived control over your life experiences and expectations. It's a cliche but you massively need to 'let go'. You need to develop a core base state that, if not blazingly euphoric, is at least content, accepting and calm. This state would be nurtured to exist regardless of the 'outside world' and 'what's going on'. I'm on the spectrum (high functioning and a primary school teacher) and apparantly share some traits with you. I started meditation and working towards what I'm suggesting here in a bid for survival. Not so long ago, I categorically did not want to live. Meditation is dull, boring and sometimes downright unpleasant while you're doing it. But measure it by how you feel *after* the session. I always feel measurably calmer, with more perspective, after a 15 min session. Wim Hoff's breathing is excellent too, for feeling so calm and refreshed after a session. Until you can begin to transform that inner, default state, what happens on the 'outside' of your life is unlikely to make a stark difference to your mental health and how you feel. As someone else said in the comments, you certainly are suffering from clinical deppression and should see your doctor and try a course of some SSRI anti-deppressants. A rise in serotonin will give you the strength and confidence to work to improve things. Good luck!
