Congrats on the new build. I thought about this one with a green Lyrik. But I heard from a little birdie there's some new Yeti's on the horizon waiting to drop. I feel the older logo really felt boutique. Svelte, wispy and almost delicate. It practically screamed exclusive. I think the new design will sit beside some of the other top boutique brands in styling. It'll also appeal to a wider audience. It's bold, easier to read and will maybe lend to a little more interesting colourways possibilities with cool accent colors. Good choice on bike. It's straddles so many lines.

I rode a multitude of bikes including the Ripmo before deciding on my “one do it all bike” I ended up on a v4 ripley, i no longer lust after other bikes. The ripley is absolute perfection: sidenote the differences between the ripley and ripmo are actually very small. Ive also spent time on both the Onyx and I9 hubs. Both are great. The load up of the sprags isnt a deal breaker for me but it is noticeable/feels somewhat like an oval chainring/ i love the butter smooth ride onyx delivers w the silence. That being said i9’s seem to be completely opposite with power deliver/absolutely no give/ rock solid engagement which performs great, i don’t feel eith is “better” they are both great, just different. Speaking of “better” BERD spokes will make your bike WAY better… just sayin’!

Love my Ripley V4 I built in 2020, for me a Ripmo would have been overbiked for Michigan. These 2 bikes really fit most riding situations, it comes down to where you ride the most.. I could really justify a Ripmo if I travel to the MI UP Marquette/copper harbor or Brown county but my home trails and extended area lean more towards flow trails with jump features and some natural XC rooty trails so the Ripley is plenty bike and has beat all my Trek alum XC hardtail climb records. I'm leaning towards making the Ripley a little more capable on the high speed chunk by changing to DVO Topaz gen 3 and maybe also a Diamond fork..

Why stick with the 36 when it came with a buttery new 38? Just curious. I love my 36 but the 38 on my buddies new Jekyl feels great. Maybe the weight?

The big forks are great for smashing or bike parks but otherwise the 36 is very good an will easily handle the park days etc

I’ve had a 38 170mm on order, but I’m pretty happy I held into the 36 for this bike as well. After running the 38 at 160 all summer, I can’t say I feel much difference running the 36 at 160 instead. At my weight (180) I think the added stiffness is minor at the 160mm travel range.

I think at 160mm a 36 or Lyrik is generally plenty stiff even at 200lbs, at longer travel ranges like 170mm or longer then I think a stiffer fork might make sense. That said I am thinking of swapping my 170mm Lyrik for a Zeb (I am about 215lbs geared up) on my Propain Tyee.

Just got my Onyx laced TR37's and the silent treatment is awesome. The only issue I have is the engagement feels "mushy" I thought my lower pivots were loose when I put hard leverage on the pedals. Turns out the Onyx hubs have instant engagement but it definitely feels "different" and takes some getting used to.

It's definitely a different feeling. I've noticed some benefit in traction from the almost 'ramp up' effect that comes from it.

I have an Ibis Mojo HD4 and not sure how I feel about the new logo, this is the first I’ve heard about it so maybe it will grow on me, feels less timeless than the previous logo and the classy gold head tube emblem.

Good video. Personally, I stick with what I am used to and work for me. Like riding for 10+ years of ENVE with Chris King (road and MTB) and I have never had any issues. I can not see myself riding anything else but ENVE wheels. I do have an ibis. But I will stick with Santa Cruz bikes like my pinarellos. I have also been using sidi MTB and road shoes for 16+ years and I don’t see riding anything else either. I am one of those riders that stick with what works. Don’t get into switching bikes over and over. For instance, my pinarello F12. I have been riding this one with enve 5.6 w Chris king rim brakes. I will say it is lighter and I know how it will respond in any conditions. Like My old pinarello is 2011. I still love it. I can’t not see myself selling it. Same with Santa Cruz. I do prefer over any other bike (trek, ibis, scott). I see Greg Minnaar on downhill and he has been riding sant Cruz since ever. I would say, what makes a rider better is knowing the limitation of the Bike and how a you can improve based on the limitations. My opinion!

Hi Tom, it's the OneUp Components EDC tool. I use the threaded style. When this design came out in 2018 it was so ahead of the curb and still ahead of the curb to this day. I am so stoked on this bike and so glad we have one at home in the AF. So true on the spoke X wheels brother. Those Onyx hubs can take a beating and are so good. I can not imagine riding another wheel here in Tahoe and I always tell Hunter how good they are. I was stoked to see you in the Spoke X video too. I am a big guy and I ride the park all the time and the SX 310 are so confidence inspiring. I had nothing but issues with aluminum wheels and not a scratch on the SX 310.🔥🔥🤘

HI from France ! I have a ripley and I thinked to move to a ripmo or a sentinel... Would you said that the biggest difference is that the ripmo is a better climber and has a "lively feeling" while the sentinel is a better descender? Is is simple as that? Thnanks !

Hey Vince, glad you asked. I am not saying the Sentinel is the better descender at all. In fact, for my style of riding, the Ripmo feels way better on the descents. Going from the style of the Ripley to the feeling of the Sentinel is a dramatic difference, and if you love the feel of the Ripley, the Sentinel can feel very dead and perhaps even awkward for someone who enjoys the active nature of the DW link design. The sentinel can feel a bit more stable plowing in a straight line, but when you hit the corners the Ripmo's responsiveness really stands out. Even in the tech, it's much easier to pump and get light when needed on the Ripmo. Different strokes for different folks, but for me the choice is clear.

But Im', now, looking for a bike which can hold steeper or rugged line and which can be also used in bike park. I really love my ripley for the do-it -all program but, sometimes, he's shacking me a lot when the terrain get harder...And I was thinking that the ripmo will be the same but with more travel. Thats why I'm looking for something which is more stable or plush on the rear on the way down to get some extra comfort. Does the ripmo v2 bring that?

hey rich - have you got this bike silent in running? nice and quiet on the trails with no rattles/knocks etc? reason i ask is you had v2 sentinel (which i own too) and its pretty deadly silent, aload of the videos ive watched on ripmo v2s have incessant rattling on every bit of trail that chatters, i could not listen to that in real life if its that loud on a video??

Interesting. My Sentinel was actually much noisier. My Ripmo is the most quiet bike I've owned or ridden to date. To be fair though, a lot of that can depend on the components being used. Even high end products can be the culprit. Just a few I've come across in the last year include GX AXS, EXT Storia and the Fidlock system. The only noise I could sight ever coming from the Ripmo V2 I did the long term review on was from the chain slap on the bottom of the chainstay directly back from the chainring. There's a silver piece of material there that Ibis included to protect the frame, but I placed a small piece of mastic tape there to make it silent. The V2S now has rubber protection in that location that's part of the full chainstay protector.

I do prefer the Deity bars, especially for a bike I’m going to ride bigger terrain on. They are burly and have a great feel to them. The oneups have to be rolled much further back than I’d like in order to get the designed compliance out of them.

It’s the Goldilocks bike for sure. The new Hightower and Ripmo are close but SC missed the boat again by not making it coil compatible and stock with 160 fork. No excuse for the shock limitation. The SC fanboys are funny and just quote paint quality and lifetime warranty. Paint quality is the main reason guys? Come on. Lame. Warranty….they don’t even keep them long enough to matter. The things they won’t admit, Ibis has the better design overall: can accept any shock coil or air, has better tire clearance, pedals better, has room for the longest droppers (big deal once you experience a 200-210), stock 160 fork and geo still does great with 170, and better seat tube angle stock and with longer fork. Santa Cruz claims a steep STA but look at their pics. The front of the saddle is always behind the center of the bb. Ripmo all they way. The only thing I wish the Ripmo had was that it had 150mm stock and 160 with the Cascade Link. An option for a bit more travel would be nice.

As a long time SC fan myself I can't deny that I was pretty bummed about the HTv3's continued limitations. Truth be told, even with those considerations aside, I'll also admit the DW link alone outperforms the VPP for my personal taste.
