Sailing Nandji - Frothlyfe

City life has gotten very old! We have had enough and need out of here!! www.sailingnan...
In this episode, life with Tallula our daughter has become normal but our life of living in an apartment is far from it! The city of Penang has served its purpose during these difficult times. We have had to endure lockdowns in a small apartment, all whilst being pregnant in a foreign country and now having our daughter abroad. The city of Penang has housed us well and we will always be thankful for what has happened here, but it is time to get out of the city and get back to Nandji!! Let's pack up our lives once again and travel across the country of Malaysia!

With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef... We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace as we have just had our first baby, born in Malaysia! Now completing our second major refit, Nandji is ready for the world when the world is ready for us!!!
We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World!

You need to realize the diaper problem may be overwhelming without a washer/dryer on the boat. Do not go offshore in any but calm waters for a long time. You will be single handed. Ran Sailing has a toddler in a strap in seat mounted in the enclosed cockpit area. As soon as they crawl or walk they need constant watch unless they are strapped or zipped into a confining device. Mother's ashore get improper sleep for years so don't make it worse on the boat.

My daughter used to go through on average, 3 nappies a day. We used disposable ones as I physically could not change cloth ones single handedly- my left arm took the brunt of force when I was disabled in a crash before my wife fell pregnant. I realise that disposable nappies (diapers) are inconvenient on a yacht - bulky to buy then once used need to end up in a landfill. Cloth nappies need to be washed then dried! I do not envy you in having an extra sail that you cannot control - let alone a baby to control! Babies do grow up - too fast. Before you turn around they are 25 and getting married. On that subject when are you adults getting married or does that not figure in your plans?

Now this may sound tough but for our second child (having driven my son around all night to get him to sleep) I took my daughter up to our cottage, on our own and let her cry for three nights. On night four she slept the whole way through and job done. This was on the advice of the midwife. « If you pick her up when she cries she reckons crying equals attention. Then she is tired, you are tired and life is not great » Stay safe⛵️👍

I’m sorry but telling someone who is having a hard time that other people have it worse instils shame and silences them. You have seen some of our lives but you haven’t seen all of it. My feelings are valid and so is everyone else’s who says they are struggling. It’s ok to not always be ok. Doesn’t mean you don’t appreciate all the good things.
@FoxMcScrooge
@FoxMcScrooge 3 жыл бұрын
@@FrothLyfeSailingNandji I didn't mean to install shame and I certainly didn't mean to offend. You're right, I haven't seen all of your life but, by the same token, you haven't seen mine either. You do put your life out there on the internet though so I feel I am at least entitled to an opinion, even if it doesn't resonate with you. I hope the move to Indonesia (sounds like Mentawi's) changes things for the better for you.
@FrothLyfeSailingNandji
@FrothLyfeSailingNandji 3 жыл бұрын
@@FoxMcScrooge I understand you weren’t trying to offend or anything but I have to share this message because we just lost one of our favourite youtubers to suicide. Mental health issues can effect Anyone and it doesn’t matter how “good” their life might look. It doesn’t matter how successful they are, what they look like, how much money they have, how healthy they are. It can effect anyone. Most of the time that is half of people’s battle. If you are having a hard time tell someone. It’s ok to not always be ok! 👍🏽
