It is a pity to tell you that you are not Chinese anymore. Chinese citizens are called Chinese because they have Chinese identity. Those who do not have Chinese identity can be called Chinese or Asians. For example, if there is a war in your place and it is destroyed, the Chinese government will Rescue all citizens with Chinese identity, but will not rescue Asian Chinese because they are no longer Chinese. Anyway, welcome to travel to China. Let me tell you one thing. In another 20 years, China will be far ahead of the world like a century. This is not blind confidence, maybe you wait 20 years to verify, I hope you see this comment,

Soooooo when you were in China you lived in one of the poorest areas in China in a lower tier city and it looks like heaven compared to Sheffield, but it’s the same for me when I first went to China I lived in London (and that place is a really really bad dump ) Then I arrived in Nanning which at the time was a small tier 3 city and I was amazed at how much better Nanning was compared with London our countries capital, that was back in 2003 and every year we went back to China Nanning was changing and developing getting bigger and better, while London just gets worse☹️ Nanning is now a tier 2 city and I know where I want to live when I retire and it’s not in the UK

That feeling of coming back to the UK is always so damn depressing... Especially during winter or if your flight arrives in the early morning when the sun isn't up and you have a long drive along the motorway to get back home. Arrival at Heathrow Terminal 1-4 is also a kicker, not only is it cold, grey and damp, it also feels like you've gone back to the 80s...

By sheer coincidence I have only watched two of your videos. The first was Guiyang and now this one. I grew up near to Sheffield and I’ve watched it’s decline over the last 50 years. I noticed that Guiyang has evolved exponentially since I visited 19 years ago for my second honeymoon. I actually preferred it as it was, but that’s just me. No doubt that China has the right idea to invest in the cities and the industry which creates the wealth in the first place. You’re a generation behind me and that shows through the two videos I’ve watched and I will stop myself being critical of your style as I know you mean well enough. I look forward to viewing a few more of your Chinese videos as I genuinely love the country and it’s people, especially in the south of the country. Cheers

Thank you for sharing vlog about Sheffield. I have been studying in your hometown for three years, and this year is my final year at the university of Sheffield. This Sunday I will on behalf Sheffield children’s hospital participate Sheffield Half Marathon, and all the moneys I collect will donate to the hospital for charity. What’s more is I have lots of unforgettable moments and memories in the greenest city during my studying time, as well as some small town nearby such as Hathersage, Edale and Hope in the Peak District really makes me happy because I do a lot of trail running and hiking there. The outbreak of Covid, however, has completely changed everything. After more than 200 years in business, the Debenhams closed in the last year. And one of my favourite shop named “Sheffield memory” ,where the only place I can find some traditional hand made knives and stainless steel goods, closed last year. Now, a café reopened in the same place. Anyway, I will stop here, fingers crossed for your hometown will have a good future. Ps. I hate to say that homelessness is the downside of the city, you know what I mean. Cheers.

Just that the weather is bit gloomy and cold most of the year except the summer months. For the sake of balance, China has developed massively for the good in the past few decades. That is indisputable to anyone that has been there. But even in Tier 1 cities, there are still areas of relative squalor. I have been to hundreds of places all over the mainland and the difference between the affluent and poorer areas in each could not be more distinct. Jason has a tendency to use this as a smokescreen proclaiming that Guizhou is one of the poorest provinces in China (which is true) but focusses video content on the more affluent, up market reaches of Guiyang. I was in Guizhou and Guiyang as recently as 2019 and I witnessed the other side. It seems that Jason uses the inverse psychology to paint his hometown as a poor, rundown, gloomy acopalypse. It is true that many areas of Sheffield are run down and have lacked investment. It is a former industrial hub that suffered due to the decline of the steel industry. It is easy to selectively choose areas that paint a sad picture. It would seem that Jason went to Meadowhall shopping complex prior to his walk around the city centre. Noticeably, he refrained from showing any of that. Ditto, when painting the picture of the doom and gloom, there was no mention of a short train or bus journey out to areas of outstanding natural beauty in the Peak District National Park or, even within Sheffield, Abbeydale and Dore. Travel not much further out and you reach cities like York and Lincoln and the Yorkshire Dales.

@@nothingbutokok6491 So what did I write that is so "hurtful" to the Chinese? Was it pointing out the amazing development in Chinese society? How things have changed for the better? Or that UK cities such as Sheffield are partially but not entirely run down, and under invested. And that it is best to express the good with bad (as is the case with China). As Jason pointed out in his video, there is a vibrant Chinese community living in the city. There will be students in the future who wish to study at the University of Sheffield. Is it not best to portray the city in a balanced manner?

I always feel UK to be old and run down but that is the charm of it. Even in movies it is depicted as such. However, I must say Sheffield has that rather depressing feel about it, probably due to its overcast grey weather and its environment.

Actually there is a town in china that kinda replicates the UK, with the houses and shops in british style. Even guards are wearing british uniforms. But it is more like a ghost town and not many people are living there.

I want to do a video like this where I'm visiting the places I used to go back home and compare them to the places I go in Nanchang. it's not a hard miss, like, I'm not homesick, but I'd like to go back over the summer barring quarantine.
