Dave Ramsey literally always gives terrible advice. (Debt snowball instead of paying off highest interest debts first for example.) It only seems like some of it is good. If you are really scared, cash out 25% just in case, keep the rest on the table, and let it ride. But, you WILL be kicking yourself for even taking out that 25% some day. You'll be like "ouch, if only I kept the ENTIRE amount in cryptos." Another way you are burned by cashing out as much as you can immediately: TAXES. If you want to avoid TAXES, you'll cash a little each year, not all at once. Uncle Sam sucks.

Actually, it's the opposite: the real risk long term would be not hodling BTC, and holding on to dollars instead. Let's say the caller put that $1500 in a safe 6 years ago... It would have less worth today then it did back then because prices of nearly everything has increased due to inflation. But he put his money into BTC which cannot be printed or counterfeited by the Federal reserve, so his investment went up nearly 100x. Stock to flow ratio... Finite BTC will continue to rise compared to seemingly infinite dollar, billions of which are printed daily, although there will be ups and downs along the way in the BTC price. The reality is, BTC is becoming more and more scarce and expensive. The caller should not cash out his BTC especially since it is now entering a bull run and perhaps cash some of it out when it gets to at least 50K or even 100K so that he can buy more BTC later on if the price falls again . But even if he doesn't touch his BTC, he will be ahead...possibly one day if a satoshi (10e-8 BTC) or the other more scalable alts are actually used as currencies as the dollar becomes worthless as it has steadily done so since the government continues to "stimulate" economic downfall and the Fed continues to counterfeit more every day.

tf are you saying? I don't agree with Dave's opinion on Bitcoin in the slightest, but it you are up almost 7000% on investment, don't get greedy, just cash out and enjoy your winnings and pay off debt + reinvest at a later date. BTC is pure speculation... Even if you think BTC can hit 100k in the near future, I can tell you that there are several stocks that will outperform that growth in the same time period. Unlike BTC, you can actually do a risk/reward analysis on those stocks and add them to your portfolio accordingly. People that put a significant percentage of their net worth on BTC are simply gambling and what's worse is that you lose even if you make money. If BTC goes down, then you lose the money you gambled and if BTC goes up, you start validating your unintelligent investing behaviors which will bite you in the future.

@@carlthegoat1 Just look at Upwork, Tesla, Docusing, Zoom and Fiverr. These companies have done similar to BTC or better in the past year. You can go look at penny stocks (which I don't recommend) and you'll find other that destroy BTC's performance. I mean, this is not a rare occurrence in the stock market... You can argue that some of those companies are overpriced but that's the beauty of the stock market; you can actually do those type of analysis.

Crypto is risky as many would say but I think the actual risk in Crypto is not investing, buying the capitulation isn't a tough call, but it is a very tough call to figure out what to do aside holding. I remember when I just got into crypto back in 2019 but later in 2020 I ended up selling it because I was dumb and I didn't understand it. I studied and learned and now I know how it works. Got back into crypto early in 2023 with 10k and I’m up with 128k in a short period of time

I do get it though to be serious, even as someone who KNOWS the USD will lose value and thus scale up Bitcoins value, it’s really hard to conceive it, we have had a century of the current economic system. I believe since it’s inception a decade ago BTC is the best asset for investing in history?? Now Dave I know like real estate and I think that’s a fair way to think, but I’d be to nervous as the boom in housing makes zero sense, record job losses, further lock downs incoming, weaker USD yet housing skyrockets??? I’m looking for hedges for the USD right now, Gold is not showing it is, housing can and should have crashed, lots of $$ flowing into BTC. Crypto period is the future of money and with it will come an entirely new economic system, AKA “The Great Reset” which the news won’t cover for some reason but IS coming.

What are they talking about? He invested a relatively small amount and kept it long term (since 2014). He won big with it. If he would have come to you when it doubled or trippled in value, you would have told him the same thing and he would have lost the opportunity. Agree there might be a bubble and maybe it’s good to cash out at least partially but don’t make it sound like he did something silly.
