I invested a small portion of my net worth in crypto and it ended up being a big part of paying my house off. Crypto is like any investment. Do some research and manage your risk exposure. I always do the typical max IRA/401k/HSA, but beyond that I don't see the harm in crypto as long as you are taking care of business elsewhere financially.
@JoshWalker.2 жыл бұрын
Same here, I'm on baby step 4 5 6 and have the Roth 401k and IRA going and I started dollar cost avg into crypto and it has almost grown significantly. Not quite enough to pay off the house but not too far off as of now.

I love how they take a huge 💩 on crypto, talking to the people who've lost money, yet not someone who paid off all their debt with it, or bought a home in cash. They do a poor job of explaining it. Yes it's volatile but at LEAST tell the other side of the story.

The most important fact from this video is that 4% of Americans own crypto. That’s crazy low considering that crypto will soon be ingrained in every financial system from banks and cross-border payments to tokenized stocks/real estate. If you don’t believe me just look up the use of crypto in a bunch of bank patents for a starter. But let’s not talk about the actual UTILITY crypto brings to money and just consider it a scary get rich scheme. With only 4% Americans owning that screams buy and hold for the long term to me. Too much potential to miss out on.

Absolutely agree that you shouldn't invest if you can't afford to lose your investment. But the rest of the video is actually a case as to why you should invest in crypto as a LONG term investment. Millions will be made by some and those that were afraid won't have FOMO anymore. They'll just know they missed out.
@jez58553 жыл бұрын
My problem with treating it as a long term investment is that it largely depends on which currency you pick. In my opinion, this crypto craze is very identical to the internet bubble that we had in the 90s. It will eventually burst, and thousands of cryptocurrencies will become worthless and only a few will survive and have practical use in daily life. With thousands of cryptos to choose from, there's a much higher chance that you lose money in the long term, than gain.

Bottom line, when you get to baby step 4.5.6 your 15% investment should be to traditional Roth. Then optionally do an additional 3% in crypto.

As for the guy that lost his password and lost access to 460k, they're actually admitting that he made loads of money from crypto, even though the entire video is pooh-poohing crypto as a way to make money.

I think they are pointing out the absurdity of the entire concept. I can lose my log into my mutual funds accounts without losing my investments.

@@DavidRamseyIII a private server managed by a corporation is a centralized system that requires customers to trust in the integrity of the network/corporation/employees. Blockchain is a decentralized and trust less system where there is no administrator . This means that there is no one who can recover your private keys if you do not store them properly. You are given the tools to easily recover your private keys. This is done by using your seed phrase and optional pass phrase to restore your wallet if your PC dies or you get a new phone, etc. Just as an FYI, a private key is used to verify/sign transactions for a given wallet. If the user does not have the private key, then they cannot control the funds for an account.

That'd be a wild ride to have $100k in crypto if you don't already have at least $1 million. I just watch my $1500 go from $800 back up to $1300 and then back to $1000 every few weeks. Obviously it's money I could afford to lose since I have other investments but man to watch $100k do that would be nuts.

Just dont be irresponsible and enjoy the the ride. Might get lucky and the grandkids could be telling your story of how you saved a ton of money saving all your life and never taking any risks. Just kidding
