WHY ON EARTH is this thing $20,000 when a real 1964 sg special is $5,000. I do not understand at all. A $3,000 guitar with $1,000 worth of upgrades and a signature ends up becoming worth more than the real thing. It boggles my mind

Could be a whole bunch of stuff. There is the cost of the people who replicate the guitar, sometimes there is certain things that aren't used anymore for a part of the guitar so Gibson has to ask the original people to make pieces on commission and they could charge what they want, especially if it's for such a rare piece. But mainly because it's a rare guitar, and really Gibson sell there nam e and heritage more than the guitars. Which rockstar hasn't played a Gibson at some point in there career?

cool, love SG's but 40,000!!! Dude... you could do so much better just hitting the vintage shops in San Fran of Toledo, Ohio, Detroit, Nashville, New Orleans, Seattle, NYC, etc etc. You should do a x-country road trip and have fun guitar shopping, as soon as it's safe to travel again. Awesome little amp too, incredible that they can pack 500 watts into such a small package. Did you get back the flying V silver burst? That's your guitar man! What did reverb say about it?
@charlesbolton8471
@charlesbolton8471 4 жыл бұрын
Salt Spring Design He really should go vintage shopping in Nashville once things get back to normal. There are so many guitar buying options in Nashville and it really wouldn’t take him very long to drive down. I don’t think he likes to fly so any of the other major vintage guitar markets like NYC, LA, or Austin would be a little tougher for him.

Mike Justice you can get a guitar 100x better for $200, I personally don’t hate Trogly, but I really think he shouldn’t give Gibson as much money as he does. So many people could never dream of having $20,000, let alone the $40,000 he spent on this. People who actually buy Gibsons are idiots, it’s the same people who would but shit like Gucci or Supreme, it’s all in the brand name.

I like the 2008 Les Paul you showed with the knobs that somewhat looked like Fender Telecaster knobs. I have a Black Les Paul in my small 4 guitar collection and I changed the pickups to ones with chrome covers and changed the knobs to ones that were very similar to the ones you had on the 2008. With the new knobs and chrome covered pickups it now looks real slick! It's a Studio so the fact it doesnt have bindings makes it looks so much more slick, especially when its polished up real nice. Anyway that's just something I decided to share. No other reason.

If you've got the brains for making money off of guitars that I think you have, you _should not_ take either of those SG's apart. You _should_ check the truss rods, box them back up (all-the-way back up, both boxes for each), put them in a safe climate controlled place and let their value as a "bookended" pair commensurate for about twenty-or-so years, after which you'll probably be able to finish out your retirement fund with what they're worth then. Just sayin'...

US - Trogly, I love you man but there's no way in hell I'd ever drop $20k on an SG. I wouldn't even pay that much if Jesus came back, went to the Custom Shop, and had 7 Les Pauls made for an updated version for sounding the seventh trumpet with necks made from the cross he was crucified on and bodies made from Noah's Arc. You're nuts! 🤣 US 🇺🇸

SG monkey Iommi, lefty or righty, to me is a really bad choice, specially at that price point. Not sure this will be as valuable in 10 years or more, or even tomorrow ! So much Iommy lovers ready to spend 10 grands on that ? Ok it's rare, but this is just an SG - not so - special as anybody could have converted the same way back in time, easy to find an old one and do it for so much less money, I prefer a custom shop SG VOS, so more beautiful. Well..just my taste !

@@mikegordon7040 dont know why rickenbackers are a thing, they're horrible basses, double truss rods on an bass with only 4 strings on it? also you got the flimsy bridge thats only supposed to stay there by gravity, and if you want to change intonation you have to detune basically all of your strings to pop the bridge piece off, and they have that stupid triangular break angle... i would not be surprised if some people actually broke a string or 2 on a rickenbacker bass, those triangular spiky bridges look like they can cut through the string cleanly!! On the oldest of rickenbacker basses, the pickups where too low output, so your gain in your bass amplifier was always cranked to 10 if you have a modern 1 youre good You cant adjust the height of the strings individually Also another thing about the rickenbacker basses, the tuners are flimsy small posts, in my opinion it looks like someone tried to cram in actual GUITAR POST TUNERS instead of actual big posts for BASS GUITARS The whole design of the bass guitar (looking at if from a perspective of a bass player) is absolutely one of the worst classic designs you could ever base your bass around on, and i say this with the utmost urgency. Get rid of that thing before someone else catches a whiff of my comment and you might still be able to get $1,000 for it, hell i know i wount pay $1 for it, but i know many moro... i mean people that would
