I was a nomad living at a farm sanctuary when my husband and I met! We wanted to get on the road together with our dogs but stayed a bit for family. We finally went camping deep in the forest together for a few days and realized a homestead was going to be so much more beneficial for us. Been paying off our land in Missouri slowly for a couple years avoiding falling into hustle culture so we can enjoy the journey and not be too burnt out to build our own tiny house in a couple years ❤

Now yall go to Missouri (the cave state❤) when I leave and move to NM (the secret cave meca) Lol. The wild foraging is plentiful there in MO and the rivers and streams are mostly spring fed. Watch out for Superfund areas though in historic mining areas, you can find on EPA site maps. Soils can be contaminated with heavy metals (plants can growing in many but humans will be effected). Similarly, other historic mining areas (such as in KS, OK, CO, NM, CA, etc...) whereever you seek your home. Likely free soil testing in those areas. Otherwise, I'd encourage soil testing and researching water quality in the areas you seek on the nearest USGS wells.
