Good for you highlighting how an accident or even a scare, unlike with a car, can knock your confidence. It needs highlighting more, as drivers just go around doing it like its nothing, but it feels like you have threatened or assaulted!

My Tenways electric bike arrived 4 days ago and I am enjoying riding it. I got the bike after watching your KZbin video. This is my first electric bike and the torque sensor works like magic. The customer service is really good. I would have liked a removable battery for ease of use but I guess it wound my fit with design. I got the stands and mudguards for free. I am really impressed with the look and feel and hoping to take it for longer rides.

What are your thoughts on how it handles big and steep hills? I love the idea of not having to perpetually switch gears, but I live in New England where two separate mountain ranges nearly converge. So “hilly” is understated. I’ve gotten my analog road bike up to 40 mph coasting down one of the hills on my commute to work, but the slog home is arduous. Could the single gear torque sensing bike work for me?

Buses can be fun. Newport Beach California a few years ago and a bus pulled up next to me just like yours. Almost squeezed into the curb before I took evasive action. Was able to get over to the drivers side, rode up to the front, right next to the driver, and slugged the bus as hard as I could. Made an awesome thump and he slammed on his brakes. This Tenways CGo600 surely has a lot going for it, the rear motor setup being one of them and of course the Gates belt drive. Maybe you could put it in a head-to-head test with the Ostrichoo Zeno, also a Dutch e-bike with a rear motor. Its party piece being a supercapacitor instead of a lithium-ion battery, which means it only takes 30 minutes to charge fully. As always watching this review was fun, looking forward to more e-bikes tested in the real world

Thanks for sharing! Looks like a nice bike. Range estimates from the manufacturer are always just that, estimates. One rider might do 50km and use 10 percent of the battery power. Another might do the same distance but use 90 percent. Just too many variables. I think they should offer more personalisation with seats and things if you’re spending that much.

Buy the e-scooter instead (Vespa looking type) not those kid skateboard things. They have lock steering with alarm ,weight 200 lbs and hard to steal so you do not have to lock it to a post ever single stop, plus it can carry a lot of stuff without a wearing backpack all the time. And the wide soft seat does not try to impregnate you. Mind does 50 km range on a charge and it goes as fast as a young person on a 10 speed petaling his guts out. I did have to buy the optional $700 20ah LifepO4 battery. Im buying the 30ah next time then im good for 70km. I love mine.

This is a great review but, even though I live in NYC, the Tenways bike is a hard sell. Most e-bike shops will not fix a broken e-bike you bought from somewhere else, especially one shipped from Europe. VanMoof has a shop here in NYC and I'd be lucky to have them close by when my bike broke. Elsewhere in the U.S., if your VanMoof is broken you have to ship your bike to VanMoof here in NYC! It's crazy. Just a quick search and you'll find many people who have problems with their VanMoofs. Tenways will have issues and breaks and malfunctions too and you will be screwed. It's just a matter of time.

Don't like for me personally, too light weight, not enough power and I need more gears for mountainous area. But it does look like a fantastic bike for many many ppl. Just a counter point, some of us have arthritis and other "light" disabilities that E-bikes with full assist can help on days when pedaling is not so easy. I wish for days when I could leap on a bike with no thought to assistance.

For someone who is fit (and Eilis sure looks like she is) it makes much more sense to just get a lightweight non-electric bicycle. By saving the weight of the motor and battery and having some actual gears you wouldn't even need the assist. I don't want to carry the bike inside (of my home or my office) just to charge it. I'd much rather just take the battery out and bring it in for charging. Plus - that's an addition anti-theft measure (in a way). Another "plus" is that if you need to go for a longer ride - you could always bring an extra battery in your backpack for switching it midway.

Nice video on this bike. One question I have is if the battery is removable in case it needs to be replaced in 5-10 years?

Yes the battery is removable, but it takes a little skil. You can unscrew is from the bottom (by the crank) and pull it out and swap it for a new one.

I am sure with so many comments this may get lost, but I a. Looking to get an e bike I like the look of this bike a lot I mainly travel on flattish areas of the Romney marsh, though further afield means quite steep hills. We also suffer winds here. So two main questions with no direct assist only torque how will I get on up hills and riding into a strong head wind ? I need to get fit and certainly ride to work 10mile round trip, but although I’m not an e moped kinda guys, I also do not want to make each journey a heavy workout arriving needing a shower. I also have a Claude Butler tourer with a lovely rear rack and pannier sacks could these or similar be fitted to this bike , I carry art supplies around to paint en plein air Sorry for a long set of questions and hope you can help. I'm impressed with what they could do for the price of this ebike. It doesn't fit my needs because I need around 50 or 60 miles of range. My current cheap ebike I had to buy a spare battery. It doesn't look like the battery in this is easily swappable mid-ride. But only $1600 for a torque sensor and a belt drive is incredibly cheap for those luxury features. Actually, I might consider buying a bike like this when I move out of the suburbs into the city when I don't need as much range. I'll be nice only risking a $1600 ebike from getting stolen and not the $4000 ebike that I've been eyeballing.

I had a problem which took some time to get resolved in that VAT has to be paid by the receiver on goods shipped into the U.K. their website stated that VAT was pre-paid - but it certainly wasn’t. It was resolved when they gave me a refund for the VAT and I then paid the bill. Took a few iterations with their support though.

@@BillOweninOttawa no, you're misinformed. Current batteries last very long time. Other components of the bike will last less in fact. And this bicycle will be more than 90% recycled. Aluminum is literally the most recycled material ever, and lithium and nickel are getting extremely valuable even now, and by then even more so.

For a cheaper, slightly more powerful option with similar features (belt drive, internal battery, etc) I like my Ride1up Roadster. It's got a 350W motor, which really helps on those really steep hills, a real range of about 25 miles when I keep it in modes 1-3 on my 6'3, 200lb frame, rim brakes (useful when you have to use weird public transit bike racks) and is super light (It's about 4 pounds heavier than my road bike) at only about $1000, it's kind of a hard thing to beat. The company is pretty awesome too. Great sales support, and the whole thing's been taking really abusive (saltwater spray on the back of a ferry, steep hills) treatment with no complaint at all. This does look like a more premium version of that. I do just think 250w without a geared hub is not enough, the battery range is INSANELY optimistic, and a torque sensor only (cadence sensors are the real "premium" feature) I don't think I'd drop another $800 on that.

New subscriber here! One little observation; you need to angle your brake levers down so it's more in line with the natural reach of your fingers. This will give you more power and control of your bike as you won't have to reach up and over the levers and have a bad angle for your wrists.

Hey Eilis! I just stumbled across your site this week and I'm hooked! I have a couple of questions. Why don't you use clip in cycling shoes? I'm confident that the major players would love having you promoting their products. Also, have you reviewed a bike from the brand Lectric? I'm very interested in their XPeak fat tire bike and would be curious to hear what you think. Keep up the great work. Love your presentation style and delivery!

Had a couple of weeks now. Considering it came from Europe to the UK took about 12 days to arrive, had to pay 20% extra for VAT as the UK is outside the EU however this gets refunded back. Easy to set up the bike accept there was no frame QR code/frame number, so spent a couple days explaining to support that I couldn't register it however Silvia came to the rescue & sorted it out. I'm 6ft 3 inch tall & the large frame size is great fit. Pros..... Looks good Ease of use Smooth power delivery Set up Not having to remove battery Low maintenance Great for commuting Support team Good price Cons... Matt paint can mark easily Rear light has to be charged separately The App is rubbish doesn't track properly speed miles etc. Belt drive limits top speed as you can only pedal so fast almost wants another gear in manual mode. I would recommend this this bike but do your research & work out what you are going to use your bike for & the terrain you are going to cover 😉 Happy here
