Not everybody can afford that cost especially for a family with a few children. It's not a question of him being a fun person, it's a question of economics.

I paused your video at 14.52-And I would say to one and all to pause it there and reflect upon these points I will make. Rewind the clock to 1997 when the park was free at the point of entry-Amanda's father was running the park and the park was thriving and heaving with visitors-average attendance in the Illumination period was around 150,000-300,000 a day and sometimes more at the weekend. The bridge in the sequence paused at 14.52 in the video was like walking up and down in a sea of ants-It was so busy you were almost like sardines packed in a can-It was an amazing time. Which continued well into the 2000's. Now fast forward back to 2023 and the average attendance today isn't even 10% of the above figures-why? Because they attach an over priced tag to an attraction that was once free at the point of entry. And yes you paid for the rides individually(back then)-but you had the choice to spend what you wanted to spend within your own personal budget. I fully agree that there should be an admission price/fee to enter, yet to have a minimum price tag of £12 for the mere privilege of walking around the park is beyond mind-blowing!. My late uncle with dementia just loved to enter the park and watch the people riding the rides, enjoying the ambiance of the park. As his late brother did too. And I am more than sure many others lose out and feel the same. The park almost alienates many people from enjoying the iconic amusement park by attaching an overinflated price tag! I visited the park around 8 years ago as my niece and her family were visiting. I think it was around £120 for the five of us and that included a disabled family member and another that wasn't riding. I don' think we were in there any longer than 5 hours if that! The park was a shadow of it's former self in many ways. A lot of the indoor amusement areas were so rundown and dilapidated, buckets galore in the arcade areas stopping water from falling on visitors. The place was almost decaying from within-it was awful to see. Some rides were closed due to staffing issues and others closed early. And the park closed at around 5pm! I recall between the 80's and the early 2000's that the park would regularly be open past midnight! It was a totally different park as was Blackpool a totally different seaside town in every way. I am grateful and fortunate to have experienced the great times on the park and in Blackpool. I don't see it will ever be like that again. Yet I do believe that the Pleasure Beach like most attractions in and around Blackpool need to have a good hard look at themselves, and see that rather than attracting people they are daily alienating people through their over indulgent prices. A good start would be to advertise more to the wider local community and to send out information and flyers to the local community. Offering discounts and information on the many wonderful attractions Blackpool has on offer. Come on Blackpool Tourism and all the attractions-wake up and put Blackpool back on the map where it more than belongs. A great video-just a great shame to see the park so quiet and almost empty of life.

I think theres absolutely no atmosphere now that you cant just stroll round so there are hardly any people there, I've not been since you could just walk around, they shouldnt charge you to go in its took all the atmosphere away, it's dead, but I can see the reasoning I suppose. I remember the laughing clown as you went in, and diamond lils and the paseo de terror, its changed so much what a shame 😕 xx

Blackpool Pleasure Beach was great fun in the 90s, open till around midnight i remember, really busy too. The 1994 opening of the Pepsi Max Big One was intense and the queues for it were hours waiting time, but loved it back then. You used to be able to get a pack of ride tickets for £40, included also in the bundle was tickets graded A / B / C (different rides accepted tickets of various grades back then) and also in the pack included 4 tickets to one of the shows too, great times. (i think you used to buy one pack get one free at certain times etc, if anybody can remember?) I also used to always remember they had 4 spotlights in the sky that used to be on all night too, Blackpool Pleasure Beach was great when i was a kid. Now it is corporate and all about taking in money, not having a good time, family or childhood experiences.
@pompeylee38
@pompeylee38 8 ай бұрын
Exactly. That's right you were given so many choices back then with show packages etc, within your ticket packages. The Hot Ice show would run almost the entire season-now It doesn't even cover a 3 month period! It just looks like a ghost town now on the park with little if any atmosphere-really sad to see it like that.

I remember 'The Pepsi Max' opening. The queue was about 2-3 hours wait. We were not even inside the red entrance, queuing outside. We could pay cash then and this was £4.50 to ride. When we left the park we went over to the 'South Pier' and the Pepsi Max was stuck, right at the top of the steep hill.
@jrsc01.

I am sure that back then there were 3 cars on the track at the one time, and a car at the top was to allow the other to get back to the brake station (just at the turn before the alighting station) before the other one was let over the drop, if people were a little slower at getting on or off the train, it held up the running time, and so sometimes it was held there to allow this. (since this though they changed to two trains, possibly also changed the safety running after an accident or two also.) @Clara-ph7my

I haven't been to the pleasure beach since we had to pay to go in, before that, I had been in almost every year. So that is me, my family and my children's family that haven't been in it since the entrance fee. I wrote to them about 3 or 4 years ago telling them that my wife and I don't do the rides and if we took the family, my wife and I would be spending our money in the arcades and cafes whilst the rest of the family go on the rides as that isn't for us now. So they would be making money that way as they own the arcades and cafes. So because we have to pay just to walk around, then they are now getting nothing as we all don't go in it as my family listen to us as parents and agree. the pleasure beach replied with a thank you and that the board of directors said that it was value for money and also for security and they wouldn't be changing it. (they are on probably £100k+ so would be a reasonable price for them out of their earnings)? So does that mean the security is based on anybody that has criminal intent, wouldn't be able to afford the entrance fee, and so we would all be safe? So, they have the right to do this, and we have the right to not go in and spend our money. When everyone is in, they have a captured audience but they disagreed with this also. So in the words of the TV show, Dragons Den...... It's not for me and I'm out. Look through the comments below and see how people haven't been there since the 90's, so it isn't just me. Just looked at their booking site and £50 Adults and £40 Children under 11 years old. Think I need to get the kids into child labour so they can pay for the tickets.

Stephen your channel goes from strength to strength. Absolutely fantastic video. Personally I love the pleasure beach and is the main reason why I go to blackpool for many years. Yes the variety of rides of the pleasure beach make it stand out. I think that the wrist band charge is reasonable. However I do not agree with the the speedy pass. Personally I think to benefit a day in the pleasure beach you need to go on a quiet day. Pleasure beach best theme park in the world for me😊. Keep up the videos stephen awesome stuff🎉🎉🎉

Such as Monorail, River Caves not joining up at the Gold Mine and Café/Bar area, as well as Gold Mine changing to Wallace and Gromit, Black Hole (Waltzer's in the Dark), Haunted Swing, Noah's Ark, Trauma Towers, Space Invaders (then also version 2 also scrapped) Wild Mouse, Log Flumes, Beaver Creek rides etc. I also liked 'Rollercoaster' (now Nickelodeon Streak)

Hey wasn't expecting that little bonus - ghost train was very good and so noisy, with you on the admission charge, wasn't really much to see included in the entry fee but liked some of the props. Hope you're working through the 1000 plus images from your big trip, and looking forward to following that next few weeks

Yes used to love visiting the pleasure beach prices are way to high . Used to get in free to walk in and wonder around. Then they changed it and charged £6 to get in . Really miss going in but I’m not paying these crazy prices

Thoroughly enjoyed this video Stephen and adventure me with you. Was so waiting for you to do a pleasure beach videeo. Shame though we couldn’t see all your excitement and expressions, I can imagine you shouting away as you said on icon. Not been on pleasure beach for years, love rides but never was brave for many types, I always found still do Alice in wonderland weird and could easily play on one’s minds ! Me for one, you for two ! Lol …. Haha …. It was so interesting for you to explain and give details and how the rides were for yourselves. They do, yep fit so many rides in there. I’m not sure about paying for entrance, I used just go kiosk and. Buy book of tickets, but suppose it’s better for safety within the park and to protect everyone’s that not a case of unwanted folk drifting in ! All other parks I bet do same. So think business as doing things in uinform maybe ? I can imagine you going on rides in America. We’re awesome ? Can imagine they would be. Yet another superb video Stephen, legend !!!! Takecare. . Di xxx

Brilliant video Stephen, really enjoyed it, and what a brave man you are for going on Valhalla with no water protection! Did you go on Wallace and Gromit? ( Previously it was the Goldmine) Glad you had a great day at the Pleasure Beach, and I'll definetely be checking out Darren's behind the scenes video.
