You're right. Sometimes when a foreigner mentions Amazônia for us we get offended, like is so far away, and it's not like Brasil is just Amazônia. But we need to start recognizing how beautiful is our country and how we should explore all this beauty.

Fun fact: urucum (the lipstick seeds thing) is used to make a food coloring known in english as annatto, and is used as a die in the famous Red Leicester cheddar cheese and all kinds of processed foods. In Brazil it's normally dried, crushed into a powder, and mixed with corn or wheat flour that turns into a food condiment known as colorau, that is used to make dishes more colorful and appetizing. The índios (Brazilian natives) traditionally use it as body paint.
@CampeaodeOfertas6 жыл бұрын
urucum is used to make food too, if you search for a ingredient called coloral you will see.

What a great location, self sustainability is such an important concept, far to few people are willing and capable to try it. This is, at least in some aspects, what real anarchism could look like, despite what people usually associate with that term!
@icygood1016 жыл бұрын
I definitely agree about sustainability and preservation. But then, if you have these goals I don't think anarchism is the way to go. You can't trust freely associated people to all selflessly and sporadically stop overexploiting nature. Regulations and the like depend on state power. Moreover, that community is helped by the government and is bolstered by other communities which largely depend on government structures, e.g. the doctors that work there come from other places and likely went to government-funded colleges, they trade with other places. Anarchist principles have some allure but they can't be applied universally in a modern, functioning society.

What you call manioc is actually called "mandioca" which means, in the Tupy-Guarani language of the Brazilian Indians, "mandi" = bread and "oca" = house, or bread of the house, and it is the very base of the Indian nutrition chain, like the corn was for the American natives.
