Umm, the NC500 route has seen massive pressures asserted on it due to the influx of visitors. Whilst numbers are up, per visitor spend in the area is not what you think, a lot of people shop in the city or from home before venturing, then leaving the local infrastructure to clean-up behind. Increased visitors also impacts on the natural environment too. The roads are narrow, more narrow than you expect, and put numerous vehicles, especially inexperienced people in campers, and it's chaos at times. Not that it's featured, the Old Man on Skye, footfall has caused a massive negative impact on the landscape to the extent where path networks have been installed to corral people and try to keep the damage to a minimum.

I agree, the solitude and freedom that Caithness, Sutherland and Wester Ross provide are wonderful places for reflection and introspection. I did a solo backpacking trip from Tongue to Ullapool in the summer of 1981 aged 17 reliant on post-buses and whatever accommodation I could find. The landscape, yes its beautiful but savage. Awesome watching, the place hasn't really changed that much. enjoy!

It takes some folk a lifetime to discover what life and it’s adventure is about. You found it so young and all credit to you. it’s not luck, you’ve listened to yourself and chose an amazing path. It’s so great to see a young person with honesty, positivity, appreciation and a love of nature. Great storytelling and awesome videography. It took me until I was 31 to see the light and 25 years later still adventurising ! in what could be described as different to the norm, who wants to be normal ! Keep enjoying the journey and I’m sure I speak for everyone here you’re an inspiration

I did the NC500 nearly 30 years ago before it was even a thing and I laughed when you said how remote and wild it is….you should have seen it back then. When you could drive all day and not see anyone else and of course there wasn’t any of the lovely coffee and cake shops around like now. Looking forward to your next episode. Take care. 😊

Lovely video, the journey you take is a truthful reflection of what Scotland is, when you push yourself beyond the usual comforts. You take the time to embrace the simple pleasures that you generously share with the viewer. The changing weather - like the landscape itself - is welcomed as part of the experience. So many senses are stimulated - and the delights of what’s around the next hill, or being thrilled by diving in a loch or climbing a peak, are treasures to you. You don’t seem daunted. Instead, you develop capacities to match the challenges you take on. Your wise insights are impressive to me - like the part where the return to a built environment feels a bit alien - as you recognise that the real world is the wilderness - and how you miss it. We know we are the visitors there - with sharpened awareness that respecting the elements and reading the landscape are vital. I’ve got a strong feeling that Scotland - at least the wild parts- have captured your heart. Maybe you will end up moving up here? You’d be a welcome addition to the community, I’m certain.

The far north west of Scotland, Assynt, is wonderful. Ullapool is MY town. Was up there withy wife visiting her sister and brother in law in January and, with luck, will go back later this year. How long ago was your Cape Wrath Trail walk? I remember starting to watch that series on a PREVIOUS visit to Ullapool. The Geopark is really interesting and when up there again, you should have a look at Knockan Crag - a stop on that coastal road northbof Ullapool - REALLY important for geologists! A good video, as usual. Thanks!

Hello Becky! Hope you and Percy are well. I live in the beautiful land of Scotland, although I am from Yorkshire and have lived here for 8 years. Scotland is a place that somehow pulls at my spirit to want to get out there and see it all, which pull I often obey, I know I shall be here until I shuttle off this mortal coil. I have just found your lonely channel and have subscribed to it, why? Well I took a liking to you and your adventurous ways, your boldness and chirp. I have a motorhome and like you I travel the roads of this glorious land and on my own too, as often as I can get out. I have decided that I am going to look out for you and your green traveling home. Things I would like to know are these: do you live in the Land Rover totally, permanently all year round? If you do surely you must get cold. Also what made you give up on the rat race and to enter into a new way of life where you move to and fro? Sorry to be nosey. Good luck and please be safe on your climbing those Munroe's and glens. I feel sure I will bump into you some time. God bless sister. xx
