I am 65 and recently broke the 5th metatarsal in my foot while at the gym. 🤦‍♀️ I’m non-weight bearing for 4 weeks. I am totally inept on crutches and they are dangerous. I got a scooter but it’s clunky. Heard about the iwalk3 from my daughter, found one in my area on Craigslist. It’s scary at first and it probably took me longer than someone younger to get used to but I love it. Every day I’m getting better and more comfortable with it. If you are up and down a lot it is a bit annoying but I’m whipping it on and off quickly now. I can get up and down stairs no problem. I am very happy with the iwalk!

It’s very validating the amount of people who like me have fallen off the scooter multiple times but never fell using the I-Walk! I’m a huge fan as well but do still use the scooter occasionally.

I’m currently at week 2 out of 6plus non weight bearing. I have been using the scooter which is great except it’s a lot of backing up and moving the scooter by lifting it. I’m just now trying to get use to the iwalk3 - I’m able to walk with a crutch handy on my iwalk outside and inside. I just have to be very careful to lift your foot each time. Scooter is faster but iwalk is great for being able to use your hands freely. I agree both are necessary.

I used the iWalk on 2021 for 3 months. I’ve had chronic hip pain issue ever since that prevents me from hiking, running or prolonged (greater than 30 min) walking. I used it with abandon- traveled, did laps around the block, etc. if I could give advice, try to use it for essential purposes only.

I had a tendon implant & reattachment in my foot, so non weight bearing probably 6 weeks, on week 3. I am ok with a scooter in the house, wide open areas. I have almost tipped it a couple of times, but mine is heavier on the bottom. Does make it harder to lift into our SUV. I recently purchased the Iwalk 3, but haven't tried it much yet. I was thinking the same thing, not to do too much on the Iwalk due to protecting my hip. I mainly got it to get down my front step, which is 8" high and to be able to get my scooter into my car so I can drive somewhere or even to just sit outside on my porch chair. So thanks for the tip!

I just used the i-walk 8 days. I agree it is like walking 2x farther. I used it for walking on forest trails. It was good on the hills. I did overdo it and tire out my other leg but that was my fault. It was ok on stairs with a railing. Note: Although I am 62 I am athletic ( 10~20km runs before using i-walk). iWalk says if you can not balance 30 seconds on one leg don't get iWalk. I can balance 1 minute on one foot with my eyes closed and patting my head while rubbing my stomach. So please take that into account if you are considering trying to walk over tree roots etc with an iWalk.

Thank you very helpful, facing 2 months no weight bearing. Your mentioning 4 falls with knee cart is helpful - who want to fall and break something else! I think perhaps crutches for fast get up go to bathroom or TV sofa and leg brace for longer activitiy such as making dinner or doing dishes, also leg brace looks very secure on stairs

I would suggest whatever you're comfortable with however I would say the knee scooter is deceptively dangerous

BEST most HONEST review and extremely helpful in helping me choose… BOTH! I tried iwalk yesterday for first time, and it was TERRIFYING! I clutched my husband every step afraid to fall. They make it look so easy in the promo video. Does it get easier?

In two weeks I will be operated on for a torn tendon. I will be non weight bearing for about 8 weeks. Your video has been very informative on what I will expected to do to get around. I am leaning very strongly for the peg leg and also some times regular crutches to just get around the house. Thank you and best regards.

The scooter for me is much better than crutches, but mine is a Roscoe and heavier on the bottom. Crutches really wear on my shoulder, I had shoulder and arm muscle reconstruction in February. Hope you had good luck with your tendon repair, I have an implant to connect my 2 pieces of tendon, so far so good, but no weight bearing.

I just had ankle surgery and I’m going to be out for 12 or more weeks. I have a knee scooter but taking it in and out of the car it’s a pain, we are going on a vacation with my wife and I’m looking forward to have an easier flight etc with the Iwalk 3.0. Getting it tomorrow and I can’t wait

Having Achilles surgery next week. I have the scooter (which I already fell off of) and the iWalk. Going to a physical therapist tomorrow to learn how to walk with it more confidently. Your video made me feel like getting it was a great choice. Thanks!!

Thanks for the video. Walking with iwalk 3 for 1.5 week so far, same experience as yours plus I got my shin skin scratched from the gypsum. Having a bad time finding the most comfortable placement of towel above the gypsum on the knee. Also knee strap is the most irritating, some suggest a knee sleeve, will try that. Any advice on the shin issue? Thanks.

I walk about 6 min from the parking lot to my work area with the crutches and it's somehow hard. I'm thinking to buy the Iwalk. Do you think iWalk will be better for that distance (6 min) than the crutches ?

Personally when I was in the I walk I did not feel any substantial discomfort unless I was in it for long periods of time and even then I wouldn't put that level of discomfort anywhere close to what I've experienced with crutches In my opinion the iwalk is better than crutches
