I think this song is among the most beautiful songs ever written. It's a testament to the unique human ability to create art from the world around us. It inspired me to write some poetry, although it can't really compare 😂 I call it Hope in honor of what I felt when I listened to this. Hope Caught in a cyclic storm, With nothing to keep you warm. Will you freeze? Will you fade? Or will you get up and try anyway? Defeat may claim you. You may fall after all. But giving in? That's letting the storm win. Your hope may be damaged, But she is not destroyed. Only you can decide To let hope die. She will stay with you until the very end. Until your utter desolation. Or until you let her slip away. It's easier to watch her go. It's easier to feel no passion, No spark. It's easier to embrace the dark. After all, to hope is to hurt. To risk being thrown to the dirt Over and over. To feel the pain of being brought Lower and lower. To watch that fragile, beautiful light Be crushed and torn, And see the gleam fade from your eyes. To suffer an intangible injury. when i was a child, i saw a great storm fall down from the heavens above. they threw me into a cellar and when it passed some people got me out. that’s my recollection. some people brought me into their house somewhere else and gave me a home. now i am old and grey. those people are long gone.

This feels like how heaven would’ve felt after Lucifer and the other angels fell to the pit of fire, many of their angelic brethren forsaken themselves to a life of pain, misery and despair because Lucifer convinced them that earth belonged to them and humanity was a flawed creation, thus god was flawed as well, leading them to question and doubt him. The angels that remained loyal to god we’re glad that heaven was safe but we’re distraught that so many of their kin fell to wickedness and will possibly never return back home. It would be like seeing a sibling or close friend turn to selfish desires and trying to turn you away to a life of despair. You love them but you can’t maintain any relationship with them in their current state, so you cut them out of your life. It hurts but you know it’s what you have to do otherwise you may fall to their level as well.
