Just found this channel, loved the two "Toolkit challenge" videos. The seller seemed like they would rather their stuff sit on the shelf for another 5+ years instead of knocking a few quid off for a bulk sale. Hope they enjoy their prices getting devalued through inflation, all while they are paying their monthly cabinet rental. Mad!

Old tools like this remind me so much of when I was growing up and I used to get all these kinds of tools for my own use as that’s all I could afford growing up and now they still adorn my boxes and are used frequently- still the best tools made. And my daily driver tape measure is an old steel 6’ Lufkin Rule Co. One that my Great, Great Uncle had and it works better then most new ones do still. Great video and I hope your able to find a Robertson screw driver set while you in the US even though there mostly Canadian. Take care

Market stalls are often a good source for rusty old tools that can be restored to use. Got several gouges and chisels there, as well as a lovely old Stanley combination plough plane (the hand tool used before powered routers were common)

Great video, and I’m totally with you on vintage tools, having inherited a few over the years. What impressed me most, and while you didn’t have one in your tool kit, was a engineers adjustable square. I have one that’s about 5 years old, and one that’s over 50 years old and they are identical!

Great video. Think the high street set is more practical but love the handsaw you found. Maybe try a car boot and see what you could get for £100-£150, I think that could be a great video depending on what you can find.

I don't care if you get confirmation those pliers were originally nut crackers. They serve a new purpose now! That adjustable was key and it's color is awesome next to the saw. I love a flat pack full of wrenches as much as anyone but here in Canada I run into almost 50/50 metric/imperial. For a travel kit you can't carry around two full sets of wrenches.@@JonaShone

Great video, much prefer the look of the vintage tools but for practically would definitely pick the modern version. As beautiful as flat head screwdrivers are, there's not that much use for them. Would have been cool if you could have included the old drill. Maybe you should make another one of these antique/vintage tool kits with an unlimited budget and then you could get the nicest looking stuff for a really beautiful vintage toolkit. Love the videos and look forward to more content that's coming. Keep up the good work

@@JonaShone the British wooden screwdrivers and that ratchet screwdriver, remember my grandfather using a ginormous red handled one ( or it looked ginormous when I was a child 😂).. I had a few of those of my grandfather's tools , but they got stolen a few years ago with a few other old bits in a old caltilver toolbox, I've still got a set of the bull nose pliers. Just prefer the older tools, the feel like they would last years

Great set of old school tools, worked well in the ammunition box. Would be great to see one of those old hand drills with drill bits all in Shadow Foam. You will be able to pickup some of those Klein Tools in America that we don't see over here.

I’ve just acquired an assortment of spanner’s and other tools which are over 80 years old and badly rusted as they have been stored in a damp garage I’m in a process of treating them and to restore and to display them in cabinet I was going to use the shadow foam to enhance the display. They are still usable despite their neglect

@@JonaShone I'd have to fish it out my collection but from what I can remember there's a couple of screw driver rods that you can swap the handles about on (the rods are double sided) a spanner or two, set of pliers and a wheel bolt tool as well as a tool to attach to the end to wrench the bolt off 😎 it's a super cool kit, might be early 90s but definitely retro!

Ok. So I've got to go with the vintage tools. I'm partial to hand tool woodworking. I'm trying to figure out how to do several projects using ShadowFoam, one of which is my woodworking tools. Another is my drafting instruments, a set of gunsmithing tools, a smallish set of mechanics tools, and an absolutely massive pocket knife collection. Finally, I'm planning to do my EDC flashlights and a few Zippos. I'm a bit flummoxed figuring out the most cost effective way to get this done, because I'll be ordering and shipping from the UK.
