We loved your stroll though Sudbury, Alice. Nice seeing the red poles marking some of the points of interest. We enjoyed you telling us a little of the areas history, spouses watching executions and all! Didn't know you played the organ. Would love to hear it! We enjoyed all the historic building all the way to the remains of the College founded by Simon of Sudbury. Loved the church and graveyard. Pizza, Beer and Fudge is always welcome on the journey! Thanks so much for bringing us along.

Thanks Dave and Kathy. Yes I do play the church organ and perhaps that might feature in another video at some point in the future. So pleased you enjoyed the video.

Thoroughly enjoyed this Alice. What a lovely town, and you picked the right day to do the trail. I love that you keep in the moments of getting lost etc, it's great fun to watch. I'm looking forward to the next one. 😀💞

Thanks for taking us along this walk Alice. It’s a very interesting place to see and explore especially with the different red posts. Loved your little map of where you were going. Such great information! Such a beautiful day, we’re very much looking forward to summer, shame its got colder again! What a beautiful little river. Probably wouldn’t have found somewhere like that if you weren’t along this trail. Thanks again for this great video :)

Really enjoyed this Alice. Fascinating about the dog 🐕 breed Talbot. I used to drive a Talbot car too - a Horizon - that was also troublesome. Shame that No 11 The Common Lands had been stolen. Great tour of a lovely town in Suffolk. Good to see other places away from the area that I cover on my own channel. The mill and Watermill Hotel looked fab - nice spot for a lunch and a drink. Thanks again, cheers, Paul 🙂👍

Thanks Paul. I has such fun making this video, as there was just so much to discover about the town. I'm planning a few more from other locations.

Great walk Alice, a very interesting place. I love all the architecture. Glad to hear you are back in employment again ! I think a Talbot is a Norman war dog, but l am not sure.

Thanks Michael. I believe you may be right about the Talbot. These dogs are shown in artworks and illustrations, so they certainly have a history.

Just seen this vid, I’m from Sudbury, had to chuckle every time you mentioned Goal Lane, when it’s Gaol lane as in “jail”

Hello, nice fresh production. I have lived in Sudbury for a year now. I broke my leg recently, can't wait to get back around the lovely various walks. Thanks for providing a vicarious experience! Harsh about the stolen figures. I saw a few, but wanted to photograph them all. Bastards.

Sudbury is lovely. I will return again soon, and explore some more. Can recommend the Thursday Market also. Hope your leg gets better.

@@AliceGoss Thank you. Hope so! The river at Friar's Meadow is my favourite place. Glorious sunsets there and can see the swans landing on the water. Spectacular.

The link with the children`s book `101 Dalmations` is that the author ,Dodie Smith lived in a village not too far away (Finchingfield) and would use Sudbury every week for her general shopping . This had been for many years ,certainly I knew of it in1963 ,you would see her big estate car parked ,with a couple of Dalmation dogs in the back. Dodie Smith had been a renowned playwright in the 1930s, but achieved most fame when Disney picked her Dalmation book for filming.

Thank you, Gill, for letting me know about this. The story is superb as we're the film. I learnt so much from my walk around the Talbot trail. There is just so much history in Sudbury.

I am a Talbot from Suffolk and l will be following the red poles when l get over there (from Chester) in April. If it’s no good it’s your bloody fault Alice as l had never heard of the damn thing until now. I am sure the restored Gainsborough house is a better draw. Not sure what Boudicca has got to do with it. I don’t think Sudbury was even invented then

I'm sure you will enjoy the walk. Sudbury is a lovely historic town and the Gainsborough house is well worth a visit and so is the heritage centre.

Goal lane?😀 Is jail lane. Goal is old English spelling. Why do you think there was a jail there? Also, I've lived in Sudbury for about twelve years and never actually knew what those red pole things were.

It's called Gaol Lane and there's a sign at one end. Many towns have old spelling or terms in their street and it's nice that they retain them. There us so much to the history of Sudbury which many people don't realise is on their doorstep.

Oh, that's what those red things are! I've been in Sudbury for well over a decade and never actually knew what those where for. Interesting. still a filthy junky town but there are some interesting things around the town, if you can avoid the crack smoking gangster wannabes..
