My favorite thing is that “Draft Day” is all about the Browns heroically overcoming the pressure to draft a massively hyped quarterback who has serious character concerns, and then only weeks after this movie came out the actual real-life Browns literally drafted that player in Johnny Manziel Then after that completely failed and they finally got a QB people could respect, they said "hmm nah screw this guy" and replaced him with sexual predator Deshaun Watson and gave the predator the most massive contract in NFL history. And Watson played horribly on the Browns. Kevin Costner must be proud!

Even more accurate is that when they traded for Watson, they already had a good QB who won a playoff game for them, trying to come back from injury that limited him the previous year. More realistic would be Mack blows a knee. Jennings fits more into a running back committee than being a 1000 yard rusher. And Putney gets cut in training camp. But, to be honest, I got the impression Mack was ideal for #7, Jennings seemed like late 1st rd or 2nd rd material. So it was just bunch of moves that netted what you would have otherwise got. (Essentially getting a return man and that right to pay much higher salary to your first 2 picks at the cost of your next 2 2nd rd picks. Quite frankly, Browns still being the biggest losers of the 3 teams. As: Jacksonville gets 3 extra 2nd rd picks to build a lot of depth in the near future. And... Seattle, well they only lose a returner. But, the rookie scale for Bo going down to #6 from #1 is at least something of a win. And they likely can pick up a return man in 5th round or something

How does the Browns owner fly back from the draft in New York City to Cleveland in less than an hour?
@kennybeck55192 ай бұрын
He used this new invention called an Airplane that travels at about 600 mph. It's a remarkable revolutionary device.

A big shot with a private plane can bypass a LOT of red tape that normally slows down air travel.
@ben20582 ай бұрын
@@kennybeck5519 The shortest flight time between NY and Cleveland would be 1 hour and 40 minutes and thats not including the twenty minutes it would take to get from NYC to the airport terminal and from the Cleveland airpor to the stadium. Even in a private plane he's not getting to Cleveland between the 1st and 5th picks lol.

@@kennybeck5519an hour is still not realistic. It takes an hour just to get the plane ready

They can do anything in movies. In reality the Browns are infamous for making the worst trade in NFL history with Deshaun Watson.

Everyone is saying this is unrealistic. If Indy wanted to own half the NFL picks and a Maserati when they got Andrew Luck, they would have got it with a courtesy reach around that year. The player dictates the value.
@michaelweston22852 ай бұрын
my, how this scene has aged. a $7M savings was a selling point for a rookie QB, and we now are paying QBs $60M a year.

Did i missing aomething? Sonny trades the #6 pick of this years draft for the next three first rounders and David Goddamn Putney. what happens in the movie is that Sonny ALSO gets this years #7 picks. When was the #7 spot transferred as well?
@andresg90923 күн бұрын
In this trade, this year's 7th is part of the "next 3 first-round picks." The movie keeps talking about the current draft as if it were in the future. In the beginning, he traded the current 7th, plus the year after that first, and the year after that one first. With this trade, it resets; they get the 7th, plus the next two years of first rounds.

When Costner asks, “what else do we need?” I found myself wondering, isn’t it your job to know? Also maybe the head coach who’s entire job it is to work with player personnel, was silent like he didn’t know
