Personally don’t want to be a stay at home mom or a house wife but I have such respect for those who are. It is hard work and is ignored often for how much effort and energy it takes to do such a job.
@juliabensonreazin76724 жыл бұрын
@@theoutsiderspost4982 That depends on how many kids you have and how far spaced out they are in age. My kids are three years apart and I have three kids. It can be hard when they are younger and you have to watch them like a hawk. If you have back to back kids, like a year apart, it can make things even harder. Housework isn't physically hard but what makes being a housewife or househusband difficult is the isolation and the lack of sleep. I felt like I was loosing who I use to be because my whole life became the kids, the home, and my husband. So it can be mentally taxing at times. When kids get older, they were easier to manage because they can dress, feed, and bath themselves and most important, pick up after themselves. I was even able to return to work when all three were in school. So it all depends on the kids' ages and the number of kids, how difficult it can be and believe I worked jobs that were far easier then being a housewife.

My mother decided to be a stay at home mom for the first 12 years of my life. I will always be thankful for that. But the keyword here is "decided". It's not something she was pressured to do, it's not something my dad asked her to do. It was HER decision. I think it's a wonderful thing as long as you decide it's what you want in life. And I think the same for stay at home dads: if you can do it and want to do it, why not? :)
@notthatnick55464 жыл бұрын
@@ChopChic1 I respect your views, of course. :) My point was mostly that if you CAN (as in have the means) and WANT to be a stay at home mom or dad, it's great. It should always be a choice, and not something that you feel pressured to do. As for stress tolerance theshold differences between men and women, I can't really give an elaborate answer on the matter; I don't really know enough about that subject. I do know men with an extremely low stress tolerance treshold and women who eat stressful situations for breakfast without batting an eyelash, though, hahaha. But when it comes to stay at home dads, I think a lot of them might be depressed because 1) it was not necessarily their first choice (they lost their job, they are sick, their spouse earns enough, so why bother, etc.) and 2) the society has very strong and negative views on the matter. When you think about it, stay at home dads are often viewed like men who didn't go to war during wartimes. Like there is something wrong with them, something broken. I find it pretty sad.

@@ChopChic1 It's my pleasure. :) I see points of views that differ from mine as opportunities to grow and learn. And I completely agree with you: people are happiest when operating in their area of strength. I'm glad you are in a season of your life where you can be a stay at home mom and enjoy it to the fullest. I know my mom is still thankful she was able to spend those precious years at home with my 2 brothers and I. I'm 30 now, and we are all still very close to this day (with my dad too, who was and is still very present in all our lives, don't worry, hehehe). We're all writing the story of our own life, in a way. But when you are a mom or a dad, you get to create whole new books from within yourself and watch the blank pages get filled with laughter and tears, pure joy and hardships... And it's something pretty amazing, if you ask me. :)

All the other things I want to do are temporary on hold say 2-3 yrs. but def not out of the picture. We take out kid hiking, traveling, and one day rock climbing. To each their own. My mom ended up as a stay at home mom when I was 5 due to health issues. She enjoyed being a stay at home mom despite her limitations and it’s a tough job. However, I was always brought up with the idea that women need to be self sufficient. To me having a career of my own relieves pressure off my partner. In that sense I can help relieve stress and take care of him. It also brings in more money for my family so that we can afford things like trips to visit family, and education. I also want my daughter to grow up knowing she too can follow her passions and raise a family of her own (if she wishes). That being said, there is more than one way to take care of a family.

I have had many jobs before, and I can say truthfully that being a stay at home Mom IS the hardest job. I have four kids, a big house, husband and giant dog to take care of. Two of my kids have different needs. The pressures of society to be “perfect” are a lot, if you work a full time job people think you should be home with your kids, if you’re home with your kids people wonder how the hell you don’t work. Someone with that attitude is welcome to follow me around for a day and I guarantee you’d be dizzy and tired 😂 On top of it I have Hashimoto’s and still struggle with fatigue. Do what YOU want to do and do what makes you happy. There never is a perfect time to do anything. Just do it.

I can understand why she wants to be a stay at home mother (in Japan). Can’t help but wonder if she would feel the same way if she was living in a different country... Working in Japan especially for foreigners isn’t the best... I’m not putting Kelly down in any way, but perhaps a big reason why she wants to become a stay at home mother is not wanting to be a language teacher in Japan forever. Anyway, all the best :) I’m a pharmacist and I’ve been living in Japan for a couple of years. Even for me, I don’t think I’ll be fully satisfied with the work I can do here compared to being back home. I’m in a relationship with a Japanese man myself and even I contemplate being a stay at home mother in Japan. I NEVER would have considered this being back home. You have to be really sure about your decision. I guess it’s easier for some people as they may not have as much to lose). I hope I don’t come across as arrogant. Can any other Western women relate?

So I am a stay at home wife at the moment here because I had to quit my job and move to where my husband lives. I’ve been talking to my husband about finding a part time job, because teaching full time was just hell for me. I had nights where I barely slept because of the stress. BUT part time might be okay or maybe the last company was too much pressure. But my Japanese husband keeps pushing me just to do my own thing since I have hobbies and we did just get a dog. He hasn’t said it but I think it’s because he knows how much I was not happy teaching. I would never have considered it in the US until we had kids...but I don’t think my husband would be happy if I am doing something that just makes me stressed and unhappy all the time. Plus it helps that we can travel whenever we want if I don’t have one. BUT it can be so boring. Usually I’m consistently doing things but I’d feel so much more fulfilled if I had some kind of gig. Especially when you are hanging with friends and they all have work or whatnot to talk about and you Are like...MY LAST JOB..it’s easier to click with people doing similar things as you..you know.. It is what it is but it’s hard to work in japan. You can teach which sucks or you can learn Japanese fluently and work for a Japanese company which is even worse as I’ve heard. I feel like there is no winning. My husband is Japanese and won’t even work for a Japanese company haha so he would never want me to.

Not strange at all. Check the science. The prime biological directive of any species is to reproduce and our bodies play a huge role in shaping our minds to that end. Side-stepping it isn't strange either, as a certain percentage of the population does not reproduce in order to take on other social roles. It's important, therefore to truly know that what we "wish for" is something we have consciously examined rather than unconsciously absorbed through social conditioning and biological programming.

When I was little, I wanted to be Sailor Moon. Then a meteorologist. Then a veterinarian. Now, I'm an ESL/EFL teacher overseas, living the dream my college self had, while nurturing and working towards my dream of one day settling down in a good job with a person I love. Dreams change, and if it's what YOU want, there's nothing wrong with them

I decided to be a stay at home mom when my daughter was born. Yes, it can be a struggle with only one income but it was the best decision ever. BTW I love your earring collection!

Kids learn the MOST from their mothers.. if a mom is weak their kids pick tht up & if the mom is strong their kids become strong in EVERY field in future. Mothers matter THE MOST in a kid’s life..so i believe a mother should be a very strong person ( mentally, physically & financially ) with high values & thinking..

I want to be and currently am a housewife, love it but going to do a part-time teaching for a little while because I didn't have the working experience here yet and want to save some money so I can go out and do things I couldn't do my first times in Japan at my money was so tight. I wish you luck in becoming a housewife, and a mommy. I find the West is really anti-housewife or SAHM when it is the biggest and most important job you can have. They would call you a free loader. I love how you can be a housewife here a it's normal. And it should be. It's the most important job and most fulfilling. Caring for those you love over a soulless company that takes and has no love for you.

I am a career woman who raised her children and worked as a radiation therapist. My children are grown now, and my son lives in Tokyo and has proposed to his Japanese girlfriend. At 55 I look back and wish that I had been a full time housewife. So follow your dream, it's a solid one

My wife decided to be a stay at home Mom to our 2 boys to raise them as she saw fit. Then, when our youngest was in 6 grade, she decided to chase her dream. To follow in her father's steps and become a firefighter. It was difficult, but she made it in, passed the academy with flying colors and started out as most do, as a volunteer. Then, while deciding she wanted to pursue it full time, started putting out the resumes, and got picked up. The only unfortunate thing, is that it was a county away, meaning 1+ hour one way meaning she would be missing some time. Luckily my job allows me to be home at ~1600 so I can be here if the boys need me and it worked. Then, a bit after working for a while, she was offered a position that she was afraid she was NOT qualified for, however, the Chief of the district and the county directors brought us in and talked to both us of as to why they wanted her to apply for this new position. Luckily for all, she applied, interviewed and got the new job. She is now the Asst. Chief for her district. It is amazing where life took her and us. I could not be more proud and same with her Dad. The gist of this is, do what you want and makes you happy and brings you joy and contentment. However, don't just go with the flow, keep an eye open for opportunities, because, you never know what dreams may come...and if you are not paying attention, you might miss. Love you vids, and glad to see you soooooooo happy. I could not be more happy for you. Congrats!

Gotoku-ji is not really the birth place of Maneki-Neko. Commonly known fact is that Imado Shrine (Near Asakusa) is the real birth place of Maneki-Neko. The story behind Gotoku-ji as the birth place of Maneki-Neko is that Naotaka Ii (1624~1644) was invited by a stray cat in front of Gotoku-ji while Imado Shrine's story has been around since the Azuchi Momoyama Era (1573~1592)

Just recently I have come to the same conclusion as you. I think I alwys wanted to be a housewife and mother, but never dared admit it, because in today's feminism and culture, it was expected of me to want to have a successfull career. I can't freely admit this yet, but I am now starting to search for ways, to prepare myself for the future I want. Good luck to you who as well! It's inspiring to see you develop over the years!
@bolsachem4 жыл бұрын
steffi2922 I asked my friend about this and her reply was “ there is nothing wrong with being a stay at home parent” but it should not be expected that it is the mom. Dad’s could do it too. If you wanna stay at home, power to ya. Being a feminist doesn’t mean you can’t just means you should not be forced to. Like if you made 200k and your husband made 100k it makes more sense for him to stay home
@eggegg81814 жыл бұрын
Hey I just wanted to clarify that (true) feminists are not against women following the more traditional routes of having children and being a stay at home mother. If one is a true feminist they would encourage women to do what makes them happy - whether it be being a stay at home mother, being child free and focusing 100% on a career, or somewhere in between.

Well this is a bit disppointing. I started watching you and there was something really special. I think all the people from around the world that like Japan, like to watch things about it, but your first videos of girl abroad brought something different. I mix of nostalgia, with loneliness, with adventure with independence of that person in a foreign land, conquering it. Now I keep watching but it changed to this couples videos and dates, with the lack of those feelings that brought me here. Housewifes, for me a male that enjoy independent women, is not my biggest interest, unfortunately, I think you had your style, a good one, for a specialized niche of people, from a person that was in an adventure to a person that wants to be a housewife? what happen?

Daniel Johnson Didn't in her last video she said she wanted to start a business...... what happened?

Lavan Volkov Woah clam down! Nobodies saying she owes anybody anything we're all just strangers on KZbin so if course she has no obligation to us. And yes you can have a job and be a stay at home mother it just that it sounded like in this video she didn't want a job at all and just wants to be a mom which is strange since her whole last video was about quitting her job to start a business. You can do both but starting a business the same time as having a baby seems unnecessary difficult.

You're a breath of fresh air! Love your videos! Your willingness to share your heart so openly is a beautiful thing! Keep hold tightly to that beauty within and ALL your passions and dreams... even if it's 9 million children! 💗😅 Unfortunately the ugly side of this world will try to take it all from you in many ways, shapes, forms! I'm looking forward to watch your tender young lives together unfold and welcome with you ALL your new family additions yet to arrive! 😄😉💗 A wise woman once told me your children are the only physical manifestation of your love for one another! 😍💗 Best wishes & many blessings for your new marriage, passions and lives together!
