DI and driving school owner from Ohio, USA here, just discovered your channel. Great to find your content on DI training!! Folks here are so befuddled by our poor and worsening driving culture and crash rates but it's little wonder. The government's minimum curriculum for new drivers lacks terribly, and DI standards are someplace between abysmal and nonexistent. Then throw in heavy cultural influences like our me-first mentality and our affinity for big action movies. The result is inevitable, too many drivers ignoring law and order and basic physics and psychology principles on the road, believing that everyone else is the problem, and little in the basic curriculum to counter this behavior. The few driving schools that want to do better are held back by those who do as little as they can get away with for a minimal price, and a market where the customer either doesn't understand or doesn't value the difference. I'm trying to do better with my school, and this starts with quality instruction. I've not found many good resources for improving my trainers' training, thus have been piecing together my own ideas as they come to me. I thank you for providing such a resource and look forward to delving into it!

Good luck Ben, Matt when you give instructions for directions you seem to give the direction 1st, I am currently learning to be an instructor and have been taught to put the direction last so, "At the roundabout turn right 3rd exit" rather than "turn right at the roundabout 3rd exit" is there a reason why you fraise it like this? Kind regards Tom
@Go2DrivingSchool6 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, it's something I haven't thought about specifically. What reason was given as to why this is important? Cheers, Matt
@MrTomwinter6 жыл бұрын
@@Go2DrivingSchool it is to do with the possibility of a student turning left or right before you want them to, say if there is a junction before the roundabout. They could just hear the right and take the junction on the right. Not the end of the world I suppose. The videos are really useful. Kind regards Tom
@SiRhodesDriverTraining6 жыл бұрын
Tom Winter Hi Tom, I'd say it's essential to do the instruction as you are doing, identify the junction first then the direction. If you sit in on a test, the examiner will defiantly do it the way you are being trained.
@AKAMustang3 жыл бұрын
Late to the party, but I suspect the reasoning is twofold. Firstly that's how most satnav's say it so gets the learner familiar with the phraseology. Secondly it's useful to have the right/left part upfront as many times the roundabout will already have been seen, and the first thing you need to do it get in the correct lane, so the direction/lane is the next most vital piece of information.

My instructor actually has the gas pedal. Is it a law thing that varies by country?
@SCOTTCOD46 жыл бұрын
José Correia in the Uk typically the instructors only have a Clutch & Brake pedal. I think it’s more dependant on country.
