Recently just moved to Melbourne from the UK. What I can say is every build is timber frame, so it’s all profiles set up from the existing house rather than working it out from the footing. The bricks are bigger, the wheelbarrows are bigger and the mixer is bigger😂 it is very different to the UK, and it seems almost more robotic😅

The West is very similar to the UK ,not sure about everything being bigger ,not over here .No timber frames just facebrick and blocks internal.

Good idea on jobs like this to leave the client a bag of sand and a note on the cement brand and mix ratio used. This can be helpful down the track if / when some cracks appear. Good to include some movement joints in the walls too, though you can never be completely sure where cracks may appear over time. Been there done that and even though you think the strip footings are a good size cracks still often happen in these long garden walls.

Good advice mate but… there’s bricklayers and then there’s people who think they’re bricklayers. The last thing we need here is more unskilled labor. Keep going mate you’re doing well.Stick with the high quality work where you have to think,so much more satisfying..

good work -- a light pressure clean without any acid would bring out some nice colour of the old reds although I do like the filmy finish as well

Hello mate! You always produce high-quality work! By the way, I have a question. I have 5 years of experience in Japan, and I will go to TAFE to get a certificate for brick block work. In that case, how much salary could I expect? Of course, I’ve searched for common Australian salaries, but I would like to know specifically how much money I could make. Thank you for reading my comment!

Oh that's a shame! As far as wages go it depends on a few factors such as the type of work you're doing and what your employer can pay you.
