Ofra Haza was the first female vocal Israelite I heard in traditional Yemenite music. She is one beautiful woman. And of course her voice was icing on the cake. The old saying goes: 'you never forget your first girl' so for every time I hear her songs, it take me back when I first heard her voice. May you rest in peace. You were taken much too early.

Es la primera vez que veo este vídeo, aunque es de mis temas favoritos de "Desert Wind". Era yo pequeño cuando me regalaron el disco por mi cumpleaños, porque el año anterior, el primer cassette que compré en mi vida fue "Shaday". Lo curioso es que me lo regalaron diciéndome "si quieres, te lo puedes cambiar por el de Mecano", que era el grupo español de éxito en ese momento. Esto es porque les costaba entender que más allá del éxito de "In nim alu", pudiera interesarme esta música marcada por unas raíces que no eran las mías. Yo dije que para nada, que me sentía mucho más representado por Ofra. Fue precisamente esta "apertura" la que me permitió disfrutar de la música libremente, no porque fuera comercial o estuviera de moda, sino por sí misma. "I want to fly" es una preciosidad que no me canso de escuchar, libre por fin de prejuicios, para poder honrar a su mismo título. Ofra, me ha encantado tu vídeo Te echo de menos.
