I know by the typical conventions for what is poisoning and what is drunkenness the Vindaloo Beast should poison, but just saying they make players drunk simplifies the text a lot and has the exact same effect mechanically

kryten feels more like a gimmick tbh, because if im not mistaken the only soruce of poisoning regestering to the kryten is from paranoia and there is very little drunkeness on this script.

I think there is need for DA on this script to cover only evil source of immortality and another source of second death for UO. Additionally, Despair Squid is very inflexible with its neighbor constraint. Those Minions appear to be underpowered, and Demons are doing heavy lifting.

Despair Squid seems a bit weak compared to the other madness minions. Only affecting neighbours and giving players agency to choose which makes it more limiting than the harpy and can't be locked in like the Cerenovus. It certainly lacks the utility of the other minions on the roster, with Unspeakable One acting like a Godfather and the other two having obvious game impact. I'm not sure what exactly could be done to improve it though. Maybe leaning a bit harder into the Despair Squid's canon madness effects of alternative identity/self-destruction?

Thought about the Suitcase character: Make it "The first time", so regardless of if the target dies they get their benefit, but also they can't keep executing the target for more info. It means the Suitcase can target a Vindaloo or Beer character and get the perk. As for the Vindaloo beast itself, I'd be cautious about allowing minions to kill beer characters. In this game Evil could have coordinated to have the dispair squid make a beer fear Christine, encouraging them to nominate Christine and get killed that way, or break madness and die that way. The madness death is ST discretion, but the idea players should be careful who they nominate when there is little info feels like it could stop anyone nominating. Evil trying to social the two beers to nominate each other feels better, and the dispair squid can always make one beer fear the other. Sure if they break madness it exposes a beer, but that is also a potential bluff the beast can do. In a VB game, you have team evil all trying to manipulate one beer to nominate the other, while the beers are playing blind. I think this works more than allowing minion effects to be used to snipe the beers on the demon's behalf. Still, love the idea of a BotC script based on Red Dwarf!

Here's a role suggestion: The Taunter (Outsider?/Minion?/Amnesiac?): Each night, pick a player. That player targets you with their ability without that player's knowledge. Also any player that would target your target, targets you instead. Some examples: You taunt the Demon, the Demon tries to kill the Monk but you force the Demon to attack you instead. You taunt the Fortune Teller, the Fortune Teller learns you and one of their other selections. You taunt someone sitting next to the Empath, the Empath learns you and their non-taunted neighbour. You taunt the Empath, the Empath learns you and one of their neighbours. The Empath is sitting next to you, and you taunt the person on the other side of the Empath. The Empath gets your reading twice. (Either a 0 or a 2 but never a 1) Like the Goon, the first time someone picks you or your target with a poisoning or drunkening ability, you take the poison or drunk and don't affect the rest of the night.

I think due to the second part "Also any player that would target your target, targets you instead" this would have to be a Minion ability as opposed to Outsider (helps Evil more than it would Good, and too hard to guess for an Amne). Imagine you target Ben as the Taunter. There is a Monk in-play, and Monk chooses Ben. Because Monk chose your target Ben, you are now protected by the Monk which now leaves Ben open to Demon attacks. Feels bad for Monk (and Ben lol) but good for your Demon

Actually with both abilities, if the monk protected the demon target, and you taunted that target, you would be protected from the demon attacking you as both would have to target you instead. I could also see splitting it into 2 characters, one for each ability. Though both would probably be a minion ability.

Maybe someone with more experience can explain how "madness" works because this is like the 4th game I've watched where it had zero impact, but seemed like it should have had an impact. Day 2 Jen, the despair squid, was on the block and his target Sabenite was never "mad" that Christine was evil(besides voting for her?). In my mind this is the exact scenario where "they might be executed" ought to come into play. My understanding is that executing Sabenite in that moment would have saved an evil player because a good player failed to maintain "madness", which is the entire ability of the despair squid. Am I missing something?

It's been ages since I ran this game, so I have no clue about the specifics. But it's important to note that the 'might' in 'both might be executed" means that it doesn't have to happen. It only happens if the ST chooses it does. - Ben

@@BloodontheClocktower I'd argue this is another point in favour of the evil/good == poison/drunk being too confusing. Even if that matching wasn't a hard rule, in the scenario where a character differentiates poisoned players from drunk players, they already have the means to figure out the "in most cases" evil-vs-good cause of droisoning by virtue of each relevant character on the script explicitly saying whether it drunks or poisons. EDIT: I agree that matching poison with evil and matching drunk with good should absolutely be a general recommendation when it comes to _writing_ scripts. But from a player perspective, it serves absolutely no purpose.

@@MalakaiSilverWolf i think it would be devastating, because as i understand it...that doesnt cause an alignment shift, so good suddenly has a hard demon check under their control... its like having a snake charmer that stays good after hitting the demon - instant win not really an issue though, since its basically the same thing like a recluse catching a starpass - its just a thing that wont really happen

@@nregames8447 Can't comment on the first question, as I'm not sure either (but it gut-feels weird to me to arbitrarily only learn 1). But on the second question: the Skutter, as a character, is still a Good _character_ , even if the _player(s)_ themselves is/are not Good, and so I wouldn't exclude an Evil Skutter from being able to be learnt.

I believe the ruling for things affecring multiple instances of the same character the storyteller picks one. For example If you have an ojo pick village idiot with 3 in play only 1 dies

@smartg27 is correct. When Village Idiot got released, this question was asked. When any ability refers to interacting with a role while there are multiple, it will only refer to one (in most cases, I believe Courtier drunks all instances)
