That was great fun, I am confused about being an evil twin of a poppygrower and NOT announcing that, in a shab game, since the shab would have definitely killed both of us but would have then at least gotten rid of one of the most powerful town roles in the game? But it was neat to see how it played out.

Best Lunatic game I've seen so far. I think generally they figure it out as soon as they approach a minion who isn't really a minion (which is a shame) so Poppy Grower made this possible.

Its not really any more powerful. It's hard to know who is puzzledrunk since all townfolks are getting false info. And puzzlemaster as an outsider isn't affected by vortox.

I have a rules query: if you have a lunatic, can you tell them that *they* have a lunatic and just make it up? Would that change if they were puzzle drunk?

Yep a Lunatic can be told they have a Lunatic. A Puzzledrunk Lunatic is an interesting case. I imagine they could do as well, but depends how that ST is ruling them being Puzzledrunk

To answer your first question, yes, absolutely. The Lunatic's ability reads "you think you are the demon", and you as the Storyteller may give the Lunatic any information you wish to help the Lunatic believe they actually are the demon. This includes telling the Lunatic that they have a Lunatic, telling them they have a Marrionette, giving them one extra minion to imply a Magician gave, or not giving them minions to imply a Poppygrower game. The last of those scenarios was actually used in this very game. However, there is something to keep in mind: giving a Lunatic their own Lunatic also means you need to make up Lunatic choices for the Lunatic to learn. This often means that you, as the ST, will be choosing who dies for the first few days. A lot of people dislike giving Lunatics their own Lunatics for this reason. To answer your second question: A drunk player is unable to effect the gamestate, but still receives info that *implies* their ability is functional. For a Lunatic, their ability has two parts: "You think you are a demon" and "the demon learns who you select". The former is information you receive, while the latter is an effect on the gamestate. So a drunk Lunatic would still receive information that is intended to make them believe they are a demon (such as being asked to select players to die at night), but the actual demon would not be told who the Lunatic selects.

Poppy grower is just way too OP for a good role. It takes away too much of the element that balances Evil's numbers disadvantage; information. Evil should always know more of what's going on than Good. Always.

I think the Poppy Grower disadvantages both teams, really. It's harder for the good team to figure out who is evil when evils don't interact with each other and you lack these social reads.

I've won a fair few games being evil in a Poppy Grower game. As Aggie says the social reads are off because evils aren't purposely talking to other evils and putting plans together and working collaboratively. Makes it harder for the good team to work out socials and with potential mechanical information being Drunk or Poisoned it also makes it harder for the good team too

The main problem is that the poppy grower was in a twin situation. Most poppy growers die earlier since it's less detrimental to kill, but even in this situation the demon could have killed off the good twin (i.e. saccing a minion) in the night to reveal the evil teammates. It was kind of unlucky that the demon also killed their scarlet woman, but it was totally possible to avoid this by just letting the lunatic know he's the lunatic by breaking away from his choices, and by the demon believing the empath. The best play here would be to kill both twins early to reveal and then revive them both later as the shabboleth for a safety net. The main downside of that situation is the lunatic learning he's the lunatic, and the risk of possibly not being able to revive your twin.

The demon can quickly take them both out, so it's only one wasted minion, and one night of work for a Shab. I would say in a large player count, it's more like 35%.

@@darbyl3872 Maybe but it didnt help that with this night others started throwing poppygrower into their bluffs which totally threw off evil. I did notice it seems like neither demon went to try and talk with the twins to see if they could learn anything.

@@mikesmith1678 Patters is a chaos gremlin who plays like that when he is good or evil so the odds of him being good is actually fairly high. Really it depends on some variables. They didnt come out right away, there was now a third claiming poppy so the evil team was not sure who to hit. Lunatic did not help this game either (I forgot to list it last night) because the demon just kept working off the others kill list and merced most of his team.

Really I think the best thing they could have done was for the evil twin to out Patters as the confirmed Poppygrower and remove it from play instantly. Sure it outs 1 evil, and removes the safety net of the Twins but it would have been better overall.

Monk protects players from all HARMFUL effects of the demon. Demon can't kill or poison the protected player, and a protected player gets correct information if a Vortox is in play. Being resurrected is not a harmful effect, so a protected dead player can still be resurrected by a Shabaloth.

while this is an interpretation of the rules there is no official clarification on what qualifies as "harmful". In reality it's up to the ST to make a decision and stick to it during that game, they can change their minds between games but that's all. could even add a djinn jinx to the interaction just to make things clear
