I really do like this regardless of the nail nicks. It's a cool knife and the action on mine is good. I usually give RR plenty of leeway because of the price point and they usually hit way above it. Now if the action was bad like some, I would definitely return it. I will admit that the more I looked at those nail nicks during the video, the more they were bothering me. But they are not a deal breaker.

If I was interested in this knife and the nail pull was the only issue, it would not be a deal breaker but if the action was flawed I would request a replacement. Rough Ryder is usually very good about that even with a $15 knife in fact they would probably just send you a new one no questions asked, They did for me 😁

I have all the knives in this series and really can't complain about any of them. Not a fan of the double nail nick, but knew it had them when I purchased from SMKW as it was advertised as such through pictures, so can't complain. I've returned other RR knives to both SMKW and CKW for fit, finish and action issues with no questions asked. What more can you ask for?

Nothing. Its a 15 dollar knife. I usually give RR quite a bit of leeway on things. The nicks aren't a deal breaker for me and yea I knew about them. They are still ugly and not needed. The more I looked at them during the video the more they irritated me. The action on mine is perfectly fine but for some the action was garbage. If mine was like that I for sure would send it back. I have the entires series so far. I like each one and this one may actually be my favorite regardless of how I feel about the double nicks. This was a highly anticipated release alot of people were waiting for. I was just putting out there that some of these are not good, so you possibly could get a dud.

I flooded mine several times with some Hoppe’s GunMedic and worked the mess out of it last night and today and it’s still the same. I can live with the nailnicks because I knew it when I bought it. It happens with $15 knives. It’s just disappointing because it’s one of the best patterns in the series and it’s the worst of the series when all the others have been perfect. I noticed today (in better light) that the blade well side of the spring that the tang rides on is all gouged up with machine lines too… so no wonder it’s gritty. Good stuff brother👊🏻

Good rant. I like this pattern the most out of all the BA series so far. Might still take a chance on it and just return it if I get a bad one. I've only got 4 RR knives in my collection right now, and I'd like to add to them a little bit. Cheers, buddy!

Hi, Jack. Quick question: I got my first Rough Rider -- The Desert Fox folding hunting knife. I like so far except for a weak snap back. The question I have: This knife is bigger than my usual EDC knifes (Cold Steel Double Safe Hunter, Vosteed Raccon and SAK Sentinel). What would you suggest on carrying options?

Man that's a hard question. The listing for that Desert Fox says its 5.25 inches. That's bigger than a Buck 110. I have the RR Bigfoot Folding Hunter that's the same size as a 110. I really don't know what RR to suggest.

Take it from an old timer, quality control is not what it used to be even in the best of companies. All about mass production and filling orders. Keep buying what you enjoy.

Oh, I will. You are right. It's a good thing that most companies and dealers will make things right if you get a bad one. My Easy Open is pretty good. RR is usually very good for the price point. Most of my Case knives have had poor centering and one trapper I bought was horrible and I returned it.

Well, yeah. I don’t hate it. Or love it. Mine is okay. There are some minor quality issues with mine, no big deal, really. I got lucky. I was really excited to get the easy-open pattern. It’s just another knife I got way too excited about before it arrived. My eye liked it, my hand does not. When I first started buying knives, that happened a lot! If barlows don’t work for you, this one won’t, either. It’s kinda small and slippery.

I like this one a lot other than the double nail nicks. Which are not a deal breaker but they are ugly and unnecessary in my opinion. Mine is good, some people got bad ones as far as the action. Im actually waiting for the Cinnamon Bone Easy Open to drop.

True!! I got a Case one time that was terrible. I had it shipped back in like an hour. Knife Center responded with a return shipping label in like 20 minutes.
