I wonder if the panels that fold out are actually connected to anything with those hinges. Would love to see a teardown.
@everydaysolar11 күн бұрын
Thanks for the idea, I think a teardown would be cool. I am interested if we actually were collecting that much solar and a parasitic load was basically canceling out energy being added to the batttery.

Always love your videos. I love my Delta 2's, simply put they are beasts. I believe during Black Fridays they were $399 almost bought 2 more but instead oped for the Delta 2 Max when it dropped to $899. Too bad the little unit did not work Would have been a great system to use with my 12V fridge while fishing. It would charge all day long and run the fridge. Thanks for posting this video.

Since you already own Browey, i'd probably just buy a SunJack 40W portable solar panels and use those as an input for it. I have several versions of the SunJacks and they all perform pretty good.

Thank you for the review. Almost every battery manual has a warning about leaving them in direct sun. Cant see where this is a good idea.
@everydaysolar11 күн бұрын
Yeah, kind of a major flaw with the overall concept. Since it was 50F that day it was a pretty easy test the unit should have passed. Image if I did the test on a 100F day 😬

@everydaysolar I had a handheld solar battery bank. On a very cool day it was on the front seat of my truck. The windows were open. Within an hour the battery had swelled and was hot. After that no more batteries in the sun.
@junkerzn731213 күн бұрын
Oh yah, this company. They had the smaller version of this thing on Amazon for ages but the specs were really lackluster for the high price. Too bad that this newer unit isn't cutting it either. One thing that I would do is take the thing apart, find the solar panel wiring, and if there is no convenient connector to disconnect, clip clip clip... try connecting the unit's solar panels to a different power station or charge controller to see what they are actually able to produce. -Matt

I have to wonder if instead of an MPPT solar charge controller built in it's using a PWM charge controller which will yield the lower charging numbers.
@everydaysolar12 күн бұрын
Good question. Not sure what was going on. Seems like there was some large parasitic draw on the batteries that consumed most of the solar coming in. Not ideal for sure.
@DanielRichards6444 күн бұрын
Even under IDEAL conditions, that panel would NEVER cut it, you would need 10 hours of PERFECT SUNLIGHT to recharge the unit, so it's already a non-starter just from the math, let alone the real world results.

A built-in solar panel on the unit won't be bad IF you have insulation on the back side of it...
@chaon9313 күн бұрын
Man, why do companies keep trying to add solar panels directly on things. We already knew from usb battery banks with inbuilt panels that their solar panels are near useless, this just takes the same problems and amplifies them. Putting the thing that generates power from being in the sun directly on the thing you don't want to get hot because of the sun is a bad idea. Meanwhile this power station costs more than a reputable ~300w power station of similar size plus a larger foldable. I don't think comparing this to an ecoflow delta 2 + rigid panels like you did is fair (more expensive and higher weight class), but it IS fair to compare it to say a ecoflow river + 60w or even 100w foldable panel, which of course will beat this by a large margin while being cheaper.
@everydaysolar13 күн бұрын
Fair on the comparison. I just usually recommend homeowners to step up to the 1kWh range for a little more capability for appliance backup power. Thanks for the feedback.
@SteffenBoserup13 күн бұрын
@@everydaysolar While You talk to Your customer about a backup system, then sell them Your solution + a generator and a high power charger, so they can top up their batteries, if they forget to turn off high load appliances - they can allways get a little gasoline during a power outage, and they only need to listen to the noise an hour or two, to keep their system until the sun returns 🙂. This is the system I use on My cabin, and trust me! There's not a lot of sunlight these days. Have a nice day

I was thinking that if this thing actually worked, it's basically just a portable cell phone charger if you're out with a group of people doing like a camping trip. Considering that the high-end phones you get nowaday can all charge at at least 25 w and some even up to 60 w. So depending on the phone you have, it might actually be able to charge at a higher wattage than the solar panels can actually provide and bring in but yes, that one is definitely a gimmick, especially at that price point cuz a power station that small. You can typically heath a power station of that rating and a 100 w solar panel for about the same. Maybe even a little bit cheaper than that little briefcase unit that only comes with 30 w of built-in solar also something else they might have done is they might have gotten solar panels that do not have a good low light rating which is also a bad idea on a unit like that. I would almost sacrifice having 30 Worth of solar for amorphous panels instead because at least the amorphous panels are going to give you good low light performance and basically they outperform just about any of the non -amorphous panels per square foot in the low light or per square meter and a low light situation.

I picked up my pecron E600 for 300 bucks. It has 1200 w pure sin wave inverter, 614 wh lifepo4, and can take in 400 watts of solar and its a 100 bucks less then this. This thing is a overpriced gimmick. Thanks for your honesty.

@Arwing-t3r10 күн бұрын
I really don't like that this thing charges at only around 25watts. That couldn't keep ahead of anything except for cellphones or low power laptops like surface. It would absolutely suck for handheld gaming devices. Those require bare minimum 100 watt input and I'd say it's better to shoot for upwards of 150-160 watt input to get a better charge when conditions aren't perfect. But then again I'm just a dabbler at solar power with my Anker 300 DC, a 100 watt Renogy panel and a more portable 60 Watt solar panel set. Seems to me that this kind of a setup would keep much anything I care about charged all day long, including the power bank unless the day is really overcast. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
