Thank you for this review! As someone who's played Exocolonist four times through so far, is loving the story and characters, and has no intention of save-scumming or actively card-hunting until I'm close to getting every achievement, it's nice to know I'm on the right track. Also, I love that Tangent is your favourite character because it seems like a lot of people don't like her very much (with fair and valid reasons), but she is more like me than any imaginary self-insert character I could possibly have made for myself. She even looks like me!

I can also second your observation that the Finji and Northway teams are amazing. I had some tech issues with the game and although they couldn't solve it (it turned out to be an operating system compatibility issue, which eventually resolved itself at the next OS upgrade), Taylor in the Finji support team was absolutely amazing at giving me things to try, and keeping me posted on any ideas from the devs, which I massively appreciated. That positive experience alone prompted me to buy Chicory: A Colorful Tale (another Finji game, which I highly recommend) and I'll be keeping a close eye on anything else from the Exocolonist creative team!

Unfortunately, that's just one of the detriments of the hobby. As much as we enjoy it, there will be that occasional game that's fantastic and meaningful on it's own but the trophy list just takes away from its core experience. Thankfully, I've mostly managed to avoid coming across this sort of situation. If they did, it usually was only in a minor manner, like an excessive grind or something. I'm a semi-completionist at heart so a lot of these activities are usually something I would have gone for on my own anyway. Well, except for one example. I've ranted about it before but Team ICO trophy lists suck. They all do, for all of their games. But the trophy list for "The Last Guardian" especially just asks you to play the game in a way it wasn't meant to be played. And does so in a frustrating, partly buggy way where process is at best, vague, or, at worst, entirely hidden from you.

I can't tell you how many times we've had the wind taken out of our sails when really far into a game, something just doesn't unlock. You try to reach out to the devs, they're busy or on a new project and you're just shit out of luck. Do you redo all of that again in hopes it was just a fluke? What a let down. The Last Guardian already seemed dubious to me, I never cared for the movement of Team Ico characters, the weird floppy character models just feel bad to control to me. The idea that you had to control one floppy boy as well as a dog bird thing that doesn't listen half the time, was beyond "no thanks." Hard to believe there was a trophy that makes it even worse! Hope you were able to get it done.
