That was basically the plot in the original story, except it was the other way around. Oroku Saki had already gotten his revenge on Hamato Yoshi and it was Hamato Splinter who trained his proteges in order to murder Saki. He never even intended them to fight crime.

I used to deliver pizza in NYC around this time. I lost count of the number of times that some party dude prankster would call up for a delivery to a manhole cover in some street. I'd be standing there and I'd be tapped on my shoulder and I'd turn around, only for the pizzas to be taken from me, then I'd be tapped on my shoulder again and somehow I'd have a bunch of bills stuffed into my back pocket when I turned again.
