My journey to complete this hunt was pretty exciting with the number of attempts, learning how to survive, and coming up with a great build to finally succeed. Not sure if you figured it out already but you can take crafting materials for certain items into the fight, put the crafting recipe on your bar/wheel and then simply craft them mid fight. Like this you can keep on crafting stuff like special ammo for guns OR something like **max potions**. So no need for mushroom mancer if you practically can take like 7 max potions to the fight (2 + crafting mats of 5 more).

Btw the reason why you sometimes get 200 and sometimes 1300 on the flinch attack, is because when he stands on his back legs, he just goes on all 4 and take 200 something dmg. When he is on all four already, he actually runs into the wall snd get the hit.

If you were wondering, in phase 3 his mini novas(when he dies into the air then fires the floor and you have to run to him) he does them at certain health thresholds, the first at (phase 3 starts at 50%)37% health ,2nd at 25%, 3rd at 5% i personally use this to see how well I'm doing, tho congrats man I used dbs too it's fun now watching a fellow hunter go through the hunt after completing it myself

One of my proudest gaming achievement is that I killed Fatalis on my first try. I used the charge blade and had seen someone else fight it so I knew what moves to expect, but I'm still super proud of it, though watching this video made me feel like I kinda missed out on what makes fights like this so great. I didn't get to spend time learning and improving at the fight while losing over and over to eventually emerge victorious. It was super fun watching you slowly figure out his moves and evolve as you fought it more and even though I knew that you obviously beat it in the end I was rooting for you the whole time and biting my nails when you were so close to killing it just to run out of time. great vid definitely gonna check out your other stuff. edit - spelling im dumb lol

Hey man, if you weren’t aware, you can hide your capture net, bbq spit and fishing rod. If you go into your item pouch, you can toggle their visibility on your belt. It helps a little with cycling through if you aren’t using a radial menu. (I highly recommend a radial menu.)

[As of posting] My friend and I have been struggling for weeks - possibly a couple months at this point - to two-man this thing. DB [Me] and Greatsword. We've gotten to a point where, on a good run, we get to the theme song. While I firmly believe Fatalis is a MASSIVE hurdle to jump due to punishing common tactics of players, he'll be a truly monumental defeat. Nice work!

Before blasting him, it's worth setting a couple bombs by the base of the cannon platform where he runs and using bombardier secret. Ghillie wears off when igniting the first cannon because it counts as an attack. Use earplugs to start the second cannon before he interrupts you, then jump down to soften the head while he's toppled from the cannons, then wallbang him. Farcaster back, switch to your main loudout without bombardier/earplugs, and you're set with an even better start of free damage. You could even drop heavy artillery at that point unless you really feel like the roaming ballista makes up for whatever you're cutting for the skill. Also, wallbangs deal extra partbreak damage to all tenderized, breakable parts except tails. It's especially helpful in the guiding lands, but also for fatalis' head.

Pretty hard for Dual Blades, though. My PB runs on Fatalis solo only end up with one break, and often post 3rd phase transition even with partbreaker 3. The lack of reach and the fact that it's usually just better to hard focus chest over fighting for single swings at the head means that 2nd breaks aren't going to happen much.

He is my favorite monster. I love him so much. Yes very hard fight. But just so amazing. and man something was going around like a bad cold or something. Seemed like everyone was getting sick that last month. Yeah by phase 3 you have to break his head twice to not get his purple fire. On top of needing to break his head twice to get his rare material. Other wise him like looking at you kills you lol. Also him going into his phase 3 is the best monster scream i've ever heard. And to explain head slams: If he is on two legs, itll force him on all four legs, if he is on 4 legs then itll do a head slam. He is a black dragon and known in lore as the god of all monsters, so he doesn't get knocked for head slams. His fire cone (going outwards that covers like half the map) is the attack you want the most to do head dmg. (atleast with swaxe and greatsword)

Crucial tips if you decide to rerun it. Shaver Jewel! Weakens body part off 1 clutch claw obtained easily from the elder melder too. Utilize Superman dive when you panic Always have Dragon pods 2 shots for flinch when pinned or flinch him to grapple for wallbang. And last and I'm sure you won't like. Leave your palico at camp. It's easier to predict what Fatalis is doing when you have full agro 😂

weakening him helps knock him down and all weapons deal way more to his head so its vital to keep him on all 4s as much as possible focusing his legs is also very good too to get him to fall back down and build a stagger to make him lean down. when hes in the air just spam clutch claws over and over as much as you can its a fight of speed so spam attacks that will get him to fall back down

As part my habit/principle/routine (something like that, dont really know which one fits the best), I would always go for a solo kill before going for a multiplayer or sos. As a lance main fatalis is my bane. Struggled for I think more than 12 hours just to kill that fucker just minute before the time. It was hard and a struggle but the joy in succeeding will always take away the frustration.

Fatalis in MHW is legitimately one of the greatest final boss fights of any game I have ever played. Its extremely difficult without feeling cheap or unfair. It requires extreme optimization in your gear, your farm, your resource management, your environmental tools, your damage uptime, your avoidance skills. Very few games do this, and fewer ride that razors edge of difficulty vs unfair like Fatalis does.

Fatalis was actually a secret (final like) boss in the first game with only 3 attacks wich was his snake charge, a belt flop and a fireball.

I just soloed him today. My time was: 29m01s with 3 cart. It was hard but my favorite still Alatreon (but im glad they made Fatalis into the game and the BGM in 3rd phrase is very nostalgic when u hit with dragonator). My build was if anyone wonder: Alatreon DB with health augment Safi B helm Alatreon B chest Alatreon B gloves Alatreon B waist Safi B boots Exploiter charm lv2 rocksteady + temporal mantle Final important stats: max attack boost, max crit eye, max health boost, max crit boost, max wex, max partbreaker, max heavy artillery, fortify + other minor stat that fits like gobler or stamina surge. At first i use the ghillie to load the canonns too + put 2 mega barrel bomb in front of the cannons (where fatalis will charge so he explode them)+ pick a rock up. In this phrase also take bombadier deco for extra explosive dmg. Rotate left canon twice to right and right canon 1 times to right. Start with right cannon then when barrels explode fire left cannon. My cannons deals 450 / ball and the barrels 225~ each easly knocks out fatalis so you can eat might pills and do 2 full demon combo on the head then clutch claw it when he gets up slap 2 times and bang to the stone wall with the rock. (if you bang to the wooden barricade where the cannons are i dont get the 1.2k dmg) then farcast home to switch to original build. Also there is another binder at the bell. :D

yeah having heavy artillery on the ghillie mantle is useless because the mantle wears of the moment you deal damage so even though it gives you plenty of time to load the cannons the moment you fire them you lose the mantle. so definitely make sure heavy artillery is on the armour of any set you are using, because it seemed like it wasn't for your ghillie set.

:poggi: Great work, Tails! Now it's just AT Velkhana now, right? Good fight with DBs btw, you have to try it next. Didn't watch the whole thing because bust schedule, but one thing I did notice is you don't use your slinger burst enough. It's a really good evasion tool with Dual Blades and can also instantly proc the dragon pod flinch on Fatalis if you use dragon pods and the latent explosion lands on him. Also, probably could've saved you from taking an extra tick of damage at 1:40:11 and prevented you from carting. Not like it mattered there since you lived to slay Fatalis, but it definitely will save you from many carts (and possibly some quest fails too) if you start using it more often. Only downside ofc is the consumption of slinger ammo, particularly lower quantity monster pods like piercing pods and thorn pods, but that's just a risk v. reward decision you'll have to make on a case by case basis.

If you have dps problems, you should try fortify if you cart 2 or 3 times, it helps a lot with the 30min quest timer ✌🏼if you don’t use it yet. Otherwise I would advise you to try it without the Palico because he can f up fatalis ai and do some weird attack combos or switches on you that can cart you easily P.S. try to „hear his attacks, because he has very clear „sounds“ for his attacks ( helped me a ton)✌🏼

Pick up db 3-4 ago looking for strategy, heavy altelary skill is best for me, without skill cannon demage just 250 with skill 450, machine gun become 79 and dragonator becom 6000 demage x 2 so 12000. For new db user is achievement.

The difficulty drops so significantly with Switch Axes. Even without being experienced with the weapons, Fatalis isn't that hard with it :)
