i've been suffering for the last 4 years years with extremely painful periods with almost all the symptoms of endometriosis, i've gone to the doctors and gynaecologists and they have all asked me the same questions and just put me on the pill because "if you have endometriosis you get put on the pill anyway so we will just do that for you instead of having you checked" it worked for awhile but my symptoms are slowly coming back, doctors are so useless and never really listen when you need help. i've had doctors accuse me of just having an std and lying about my pain even though at the time of that appointment I was literally a virgin like girl bfr - its all so long and confusing im so happy you have gotten the treatment you need, you deserve to have a life pain free

Yes you must stand up for yourself! You gotta be your biggest advocate & I hope you get your answers asap! ❤ I always knew I had too long & too strong/painful Periods! It took me having a horrific labor & delivery to where I bled out at child birth.. i was told I shouldn’t have more kids, when I woke up from emergency surgery and my baby was in the Nicu (I was induced, so she only went to Nicu because she inhaled too much of my blood.. since they didn’t kno I was bleeding that bad until after she came out). So, I got a tubal ligation about a month PP & still had such severe periods & suddenly had large lumps in my tiny breast… they finally got me into have an internal Ultrasound & a breast ultrasound.. both were cysts but in the cervical ultrasound they found I have a spongey uterus & sent me in for catscan! Then we were positive I had Adenomyosis plus they found 3 hernias in my abdomen! But the adenomyosis does cause severely painful & heavy periods, plus explains why I’ve always had the longest worst periods for like 10 years & it probably it got worse during my last pregnancy & most likely I wouldn’t had been able to have more babies if I tried.. so my tubes are tied mean I cant have more babies and yet still I have horrible periods! I went through so many birth control pills and very strong ones at that but they were not taking my period away like we were expecting them to and they highly recommended me get the Mirena IUD. And so far that Mirena has been a life saver! I highly recommend if you have severe periods because I rarely have one now! My next option was a full hysterectomy and I’m only 30 so they didn’t want me to go through all that and wanted me to hold out 10 more years. Now my 14yo is having painful, long periods & irregular so I’m worried she’s gonna end up just like me! 😢 Sorry I typed so much but wanted you to know what adenomyosis is since I had never heard of it until I got diagnosed and it is a close/like sister to endometriosis and very painful as well! Maybe you can have your doctors look for these if you have any similar symptoms! ❤hope you get better soon and get your much needed answers! ❤prayers for you!

After getting married & trying to conceive, I visited my doctor, and he immediately made a plan of action to help. All that to say there IS a doctor out there who will make a difference. I’m glad you found one! Also, I was on Lupron for about 6 months & it made a huge difference for my endo. I’m so glad endometriosis, PCOS, infertility, etc is becoming a normalized conversation. No one should suffer alone❤️

I’m so happy you finally got a diagnosis. As someone who has had cysts since I was about 11 with the same symptoms as you when you first felt it they absolutely sucks and will come and go and some go away on their own and some don’t. It happens so quick, I was fine all day and then all of the sudden I go to bed and can’t get up sleep or even use the bathroom when I had one rupture back in 2021. I went to the emergency room and they told me that a cyst had ruptured and there was just a pool of blood sitting on my stomach and ovaries and they didn’t know if my ovaries had twisted or what entirely happened. I’m so sorry you had to go through this so young, it definitely sucks and is one of the scariest things being told I might lose an ovary and going through all of the emotions

I have struggled with MANY hormonal issues. I was about to be diagnosed with PCOS, as well as being told to be put on birth control. Not everyone is interested in suggesting/ sharing with others about the fact that there are NATURAL ways to help with these issues. Diet change, activity changes, etc. Cutting out sugar, cutting out toxic products was a major thing in my journey. I had painful cramps as well, and they have completely gone away. It is a LONG journey, and it takes a lot to study and make the steps to cut out certain things. If you ever want any advice, please reach out! I am always more than happy to help other young women. I see it so often now, girls in their 20s with these issues. It is NOT normal. And birth control is not the only solution. It suppresses the symptoms but does not take care of the issue internally.

@Bella519772 ай бұрын
I would also love to know more! Have you heard of adenomyosis? That’s what I have any extra help would be amazing! I got my tubal ligation and asked for a hysterectomy because my periods were so painful they were worst than labor! But I was only 30 and they wanted me to wait at least 10 years so I got the Mirena IUD and it’s helped for now but I still have symptoms and the occasional period even with this!
@kay75842 ай бұрын
I have not heard of that before. I would have to educate myself a bit more on that topic before I clearly recommend anything regarding that issue. But, I am only 20 and my issues were definitely hormonal problems. But at 17 I developed HORRIBLE hormonal acne. All over my chin, cheeks and forehead 17, my hair started falling out, I had sleep apnea, my cramps became worse, and I started getting thicker facial hair. I had other symptoms of PCOS besides “irregular” periods (missing ovulation, cysts). I went to a doctor, and she said I definitely had symptoms of PCOS and that she wanted to schedule a full body exam and recommended birth control. Going into it I already knew I did not want any form of birth control. So I didn’t go back to the doctor😂 instead, I decided to research natural cures. I have had a dairy allergy my whole life, and I had already cut out gluten a couple years prior. So my next big step was sugar, I completely cut out sugar. No facial products worked for my acne at ALL. But over time, my gut started to heal. I started drinking spearmint tea, raspberry tea, and taking specific vitamins. I changed my diet around completely. Whole foods, minimal processed foods. No dyes. No gluten, sugar or dairy. Replacing toxic household products for clean ones, no makeup, no perfume, no chemical lotions. Homemade body care. Higher water intake, no caffeine, and low intensity body movement everyday. I am 20 now, and yes, I still have acne, but my breakouts before my period are VERY minimal. It is scarring that I continue to work on. And no more extreme hair fallout.
@kay75842 ай бұрын
And, I will add, for me my faith played a huge role in it. God truly helped me with wisdom and self control when it came to all of these things. I’ll be praying for your health journey!

I’ve been fighting and advocating for myself so hard and have hit wall after wall about this too. I’ve had extremely painful periods for most of my adult life (often times with lighting striking pain shooting up my legs and arms then complete numbness/immobility) I’ll faint, vomit, lie on the floor sweating with no feeling in my limbs. I also had cervical pre-cancer and was being monitored for years with colposcopies. I have so many of the symptoms - painful periods, depression, anxiety, tummy issues… I waited for months to see a gynecologist and was written off as just seeing her for painful periods and told that my periods pains were “normal” and that my options are either a new birth control pill, iUD or a prescription for a pill that treats endometriosis (but she wouldn’t confirm that I have it or not)

I was on birth control for 5+ years because of my painful period. I missed half of my 8th grade year because of it, and my doctor decided that birth control was the best fit. Now I’ve been off for almost 4 years and my body hasn’t gone back to normal, I’m seeing a gynecologist and she’s helping me. But my levels were also VERY abnormal. We need doctors who will listen to us, and give us the best option. Not just put a bandaid on our issue for the time being.

I feel your pain I’m 36 and i also went through this when I was in my early 20’s- I had surgery when I was 23 and diagnosed with endometriosis, and they removed it along with adhesions, then surgery again at 26 it was worse and they removed a cyst and everything again with a laser, flash forward to this year I had been trying to get pregnant for a year and they did an HSG and my tubes were blocked so they did surgery to open my tubes and they found another cyst on my left ovary and they removed it and cleaned up everything and less than 6 months later my period was non stop and pain (I already knew I had 2 fibroids which are normal for my age) but they found a huge growth in my uterus so I opted for a second surgery and they removed 4 fibroids from my uterus and luckily saved it, they cut the adehesions (no endo!) and freed my left tube again- but luckily my ovaries look okay- I can’t try for a baby for another 2 years in which I will be “old” for pregnancy- recovery is very rough. Remember to always advocate for yourself and honestly since you are financially stable at a young age- just have the kids asap even alone- I regret being on birth control when I was younger and waiting for my career and financial status to be high to start trying.
