How do you think nationality is acquired? Would birth place be one criteria perhaps? Would marriage be one perhaps? Would ancestry be one perhaps? Would residency rules be one perhaps? Listen, I am not going to waste any more of my precious time "educating" some ignoramuses on how nationality can be acquired. Simply visit your government's designated website (Home Office, or the equivalent in whichever country you're from) and educate yourself there. Lee. I forgot to say this. The Czech player you were referring to who has now retired was Gebre Selassie. He played many years for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga. I remember when he played for his country against Spain during Euro 2016. He received racist abuse from the Spanish fans. Another great ex Spanish player who played for his adopted country as he was born in Brazil also received a lot of racism before he became a hero as he won Euro 2008. That was Marcos Senna. He used to play for Villarreal with Riquelme. I also want to remind people with this comment that I’m referring to a minority, not a majority of people.

Lee is right, its a cultural thing to express racism (in various ways and to various intensity) and the tolerance of the society/culture towards the racism expressed. For e.g. if someone called me/my race names in social media or in public, I would not be that much bothered to the point that it will give me sleepless nights, i.e. in other words, my tolerance to racism belted towards me is high. Everyone has their own levels to these things (does not make it right or wrong), sometimes it's just the way it is.

Africans/Black people as a group suffer from racial amnesia so they'll always forgive. Nobody fears the repercussions of disrespecting us because we want to be real so bad that we'll forgive anyone for any slight. This is the main reason why we were conquered in the first place and our kids had to flee their homes to get abused again, and I see that we've not adapted or changed. We are intelligent, strong, fast, however we lack unity, consequently; anyone, and everyone can attack and or disrespect us. I never knew Mr. Gunner here had said those things about that African brother, and whilst his current position is admirable, nobody puts themselves in the position of that lone brother in the Czech team, imagine the mental abuse he sustained. We actually hate each other and ourselves.

While I appreciate the larger issue, the chant itself is not “racist”. If we speak purely in football terms, in a sporting sense, what the French do is inherently unfair. And they aren’t the only ones to do it. Commonly it will happen between the Brazilians and Portuguese. But if you notice, 99% of decisions on which country to play for are for sporting reasons. This is why you can’t bring up racism, because it’s nothing to do with whether a person is black, white, yellow, brown, whatever. It has everything to do with players of dual nationality choosing the country that represents the best sporting opportunity, not which nation they feel most aligned to. I’ll give an easy example, Brahim Diaz. He played for Spain at all youth levels, but felt he couldn’t break into the current team. He even scored a goal on his only Spain appearance. So he chose to switch to Morocco. Again, from a purely sporting point of view, this is unfair. When France is able to cherry pick the best players from over 20 African countries, plus all those who have emigrated to France seeking refuge, the original player pools become even more muddied. The debate should truly be whether you should play for the country your parents are from ie where you are most related to genetically, or whether you should play for the country you are a citizen of and grew up in. The former is more fair from a sporting sense and the latter is a more modern take on nationality. The problem arises when players are able to choose. If I have an Algerian father, a French mother, but I grew up in England, I basically have the choice of three nations to represent. The problem is that players don’t generally decide because “I feel more Algerian”, they decide to play for Algeria in that scenario because they aren’t good enough to make the other teams. To imply that someone isn’t French but African when they are in fact both is racist. But PURELY from a sporting point of view it makes sense. As usual though people will miss the opportunity to debate the merits of current international football in favor of premature outrage.
