If you're about to get punched by the most jovial guy in the history of chess....it's probably not only surprising, but a clue that it's time to rethink your behavior.

I'm surprised that such behaviour did not lead to an automatic loss, as it's rather off-putting.

This is one of the reasons why I prefer Karpov over Kasparov. Karpov is just too silent in game and very humble in real life. Kasparov is indeed a beast, both in attitude and in game.

Just saw a video where Kasparov came by as as an honored guest to make the first move for Magnus. Kasparov was on foot smiling to the quiet applause and happened to move right next to Wesley So sitting at the next table, so Wesley offered a handshake. And Kasparov looked right through him as if he was a nobody. Kasparov could have maintained his superiority without going that far.

Just saw that exact same video. That’s not what happened. So was telling him to make the move, he clearly reached his hand out in a gesture of ‘move a piece’.

There were several shameful incidents of garry back in the 80s and 90s .... I remember among many things the clapping of the door in a crutial game in WC match vs anand in new york 1995, cheating against judith polgar in linares 1994 .... I like how Yasser concluded in this video, Yasser is pure class

Yasser is such a sweet person.Kasparov was just a ill tempered, nasty human being who constantly misbehaved with his opponents.Infact he behaved exactly in this manner towards Vishy Anand during their WC title match in 1995.He was upset when Anand beat him in Game 9.In Game 10 Kasparov would slam the door violently after making a move. This nearly dislodged the pieces on the board.Anand was very upset but he refrained from registering an official complaint.People like Yasser and Anand are nice, warm hearted, soft spoken and kind gentlemen.Kasparov was a foul tempered, manipulative, power drunk and arrogant person who had no sporting spirit that befiited a great World Champion.Truth be told,I find it hilarious and ironic whenever I hear Kasparov preach about democracy and freedom..it's rich coming from a real life tyrant like him.:-)

@@orka16605 I have read enough about the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe to know how terrible these systems were.I have learnt so much from the writings of Solzhenitsyn,Havel,Arthur Koestler,Milan Kundera,Robert Conquest,Simon Montefiore.Indivudual liberty and freedom of speech were crushed in these countries. That said,I still feel that Kasparov is an undemocratic person by nature. He has such a self centered, arrogant, acerbic, authoritarian streak in him. When it comes to Putin and Russia he says all the politically correct things and I agree with his political views.Be that as it may,I find him lacking certain humane qualities. Its just my view.
