Despicable me Movie Description:
A man who delights in all things wicked, supervillain Gru (Chris Renaud) hatches a plan to steal the moon. Surrounded by an army of little yellow minions and his impenetrable arsenal of weapons and war machines, Gru makes ready to vanquish all who stand in his way. Despicable Me is a 2010 American animated comedy film produced by Illumination Entertainment and distributed by Universal Pictures. The first feature film from Illumination Entertainment, it was directed by Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin (in their feature directorial debuts) and produced by Chris Meledandri, Janet Healy and John Cohen, from a screenplay by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, which was in turn based on an original story by Sergio Pablos. Despicable Me stars the voices of Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Miranda Cosgrove, Kristen Wiig, Will Arnett, and Julie Andrews. The film follows Gru, a longtime supervillain who adopts three orphan girls to use as pawns in a villainous scheme but accidentally develops an emotional attachment to them.
Development of Despicable Me began when Pablos pitched the idea about a main character having villainous attributes and brought the concept to Meledandri following Illumination's foundation in 2007, with Paul and Daurio reworking the script. The film was officially announced in 2008, with much of its creative team attached, while animation was provided by Paris-based studio Mac Guff. Pharrell Williams and Heitor Pereira composed the film's score, with original songs written and performed by Williams.
Despicable Me debuted at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on June 9, 2010, and was theatrically released in the United States on July 9. The film received positive reviews from critics and earned $543.6 million worldwide, becoming the ninth-highest-grossing film of 2010. It was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at the Golden Globe Awards, BAFTA Awards and Annie Awards and is also the winner for Favorite Animated Movie at the 2011 Kids' Choice Awards. The success of Despicable Me launched a multi-billion dollar multimedia franchise, which comprises Despicable Me 2 (2013), Minions (2015), Despicable Me 3 (2017), Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022), and the upcoming Despicable Me 4 (2024).

When a little kid says that they love you (31:35), it really just breaks your heart wide open. Because kids are so innocent and don't lie, it's just so honest and pure. It reminds me of when my 60+ year old uncle watched my (then 4 year old) daughter while her dad and I were on vacation for a week. He said that they had a blast, and that one night, when he was putting her to bed, she gave him a big hug and said that she loved him. This man was a green beret in the army, but he said that he just sat and cried over that. That was 9 years ago, and they're still super duper close. Kids, man. They're an incredible gift.

This hit during the big 3D craze, which is why the end credits stuff is all playing around with that aspect of it. The roller coaster portion was absolutely insane in theater. The series is really solid for the most part, with each sequel bringing something new to the formula rather than resting on what worked and repeating. Keep watching, you'll definitely appreciate them.

Fun fact, before the release of the Minions movie, they always have random Minions for the Illumination intro. But now we have the trio (Bob, Stuart and Kevin) doing the intro. Despicable Me is definitely one of the best animated movies I've ever seen and this is where I know Steve Carrel. I've always know him as the voice of Gru just like Owen Wilson as McQueen.

Fun Fact: Illumination made a theatrical short called Mooned that takes place right after the first movie, focusing on Vector trying to get back to Earth. They even bring back that Minion that floated away. Also, about the credits, the Minions reaching out was meant to revolve around 3D effects that were super popular at the time.

Legit good movie, and Pharrell Williams made quite a few bangers for this franchise. I remember being excited when this one turned out so well because I felt like there weren't a lot of studios producing animated features on the regular. It was mostly DreamWorks and PIXAR (Blue Sky was hanging in there kinda and Disney Animation had a bad batting average). Regrettably, Illumination hasn't really lived up to their first movie as of yet.

bro to keep it e bean.. i was depressed because i was going through it financially and my job got me betterhelp and tbh it just made me realize that sharing my experience really will do nothing.. i mean i can complain all day but a million dollars is not gonna fall from the sky and that i have to want better for myself.. no one is coming to save me whether i go through one thing or three things so i should put myself in the position to want to be happy.
