I've always viewed the "can vampires love?" question as this Yes they love but their lack of conscience and lack of soul makes them unable to express that love in a healthy and empathetic way. It's also kinda a twisted love, more of a single minded, selfish obsession.
@samanthas83403 ай бұрын
Yes, I think of it as immature verses mature love. Mature love is commonly considered a choice people make and choice is a big part of the Buffy philosophy. However, if we look at Spike's qoute "love isn't brains children, it's blood. Blood screaming inside you to work it's will." There's no choice involved from his perspective. This fits better with vampires, because vampires are more or less enslaved by the demons that possess them. They are frozen in time, unable to mature, unable to choose different paths.

Every reactor has that same look on their face in the final minute of this episode. Shock, horror, denial, OMGWTF...etc. In some ways it's a shame that it's so powerful it overshadows what was a pretty damn good episode that raises some deep moral questions and shows you different versions of love and obsession. April's love for Warren. Spike's obsession with Buffy. Giles's fatherly love for Buffy. Anya's trusting love for Xander. Warren's love for...well, himself basically.

April was meant to be played by Britney Spears, I think that is partially why there are so many gross Xander comments, it was sort of normal to over-sexualize/objectify her. It also adds to theme of objectifying women that the episode is critiquing with warren building a robot woman. However, on Xander's end he never has a realization moment or consequence moment so it falls short for me, the episode turning into what it was critiquing. Such a joyous start with the girls teasing Joyce about her dress, and Joyce like a nervous teenager going on a first date, then Joyce turning the tables on Buffy saying she left her bra in his car, a great little juxtaposition as the mother acting like the daughter. An important episode in that we are introduced to Warren one of the most despicable characters in The Buffyverse, we also see Spike's obsession reaching a critical point, where he is asking Warren to make the Buffybot. At the end we see Buffy seeing Joyce on the sofa, what we think is maybe a very ordinary situation, but leading into the next episode, one of the greatest episodes in the whole series, and best pieces of tv drama ever shown. S3 was my favourite up until S5. The latter part of S5 is off the charts.

But I also can't fully say it's not at least a little strange, I kind of get stuck between two concepts. But if I had to come down on a side, if forced to do so, I would have to say it's not really that bad.

(I read the title,I don't link) (I re-read the title before watching the video) Ooooh,God!!We're at _that_ episode already?!?!😱Ooohhh,boy.Oooooh,boy!:-S (I read the comment of romanoberlin277) Yeah...as I was saying...;-S OK,I didn't wanna do it,but...I have to...skip immediately to 15:44 to check _that_ reaction... 16:24 - 16:47 This is the 1st time I hear this theory...😅🛸👽 I must say I don't know why your Patreons wanted you to watch ep 15&16 back to back...why didn't want you to let the final scene to sink in? 03:00 - 03:15 🤭💙 03:28 - 03:33 There's a cure for that:it's called _infinite re-watches!_ 💛 04:34 - 04:40 😢 05:53 - 06:06 😂😂😂😂 06:30 - 06:36 I love Ben!!😭🤎 06:42 - 06:53 True. 07:18 - 07:45 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 08:05 - 08:13 :-3 ❤ 09:25 - 09:28 Very romantic ASEXUAL guy here!!🙋♂ 11:00 - 11:31 For once,I AGREE!😎 12:48 - 13:00 Imagine if she was talking about _another_ Warren.🤦♂😬 13:43 - 13:49 "She GROWLS?You made her so she growls?!?"🤣🤣🤣 14:13 - 14:20 I feel so bad for April.😢💗 14:26 - 14:36 ...before _Dawn._ 15:23 🤭💗 18:30 - 18:42 🤣😎👍 18:56 - 19:22 This is why I insist that if you don't have a soul you _can't_ be Good. *_I don't want_* Spike to be redeemed if he doesn't get a soul _FIRST!_ The chip is like a muzzle...if you put a muzzle on a rabid dog,he still remains rabid. You can physically prevent him from biting,but _mentally_ he's still in the same place. This is what *_should_* happen with Spike&the chip!And for now it is,so it's all good for me so far!Spike is tamed but he's still Evil.👍 20:04 - 20:11 🤭 #BuffyBot 💛💗 Good luck with the next episode...🙏
