Many of the older squirrel cage blower wheels had allen head set bolts. A set of long allen wrenchs was a must have tool.

Yeah I can't say I've ran across many of those. This was actually the first motor I replaced on a V-Tac

I have a Friedrich Kuhl through wall unit. Since I can't get anyone to service it, I've had work on it myself. They are made the same way. Except mine didn't have enough room to slide the condenser fan off the shaft without unbolting the condenser and tipping it. I'll be ripping mine apart soon, sounds like the motor bushings are shot on mine now.

We found long ago that ptac's and in this case vtac's aren't really worth working on. After labor taking it a part, cost of the parts, and labor putting it back together you might as well replace the whole unit which is 10 x faster than messing with all of that.
