The reason Allen realized that guy was a Viltrumite is that ripping his beard off showed he just has a moustache. The name Viltrum is actually based on "philtrum", which is the word for the groove between a person's nose and upper lip, so Viltrumites are basically moustache people.

@@victortg95 I'm pretty certain it's his real beard. If you search for 'toolock' pull, it should show a comic page where he is asked to do it again to prove he's actually a viltrumite, this time by another viltrumite. The viltrumite asks specifically to prove he is an actual viltrumite by performing the toolock pull, so it seems this is a maneuver to indicate one is an actual viltrumite. He replies "I will gladly do so if you insist. But I have already done this for allen in the past and I *did not* care for it." (heavily implying it's painful), and Allen corroborates this by saying "It's true, dude--- pulled his beard right out. It was *crazy*.". Without spoiling much, Mark later explains that mustaches are cermonial to Viltrumites, and he has chosen to break tradition by not growing out a mustache.

Robert Kirkman has actually explained that he and Cory Walker (the first artist and co-creator for the series) both have fathers with moustaches, and they just kind of automatically associate 'moustache' with 'dad', which resulted in them giving Nolan a moustache, which just kind of evolved into them giving all the Viltrumites moustaches, and they both just thought that it was a really really funny joke to be able to identify the world-destroying evil overlords by them having moustaches. Hence Thaedus ripping off his beard and everyone immediately understanding that he's a Viltrumite.

Really have enjoyed your videos and hearing your overall thoughts on the show so far. I think I agree with just about every point you’ve made about how the show has developed. The story of invincible throughout the comics seems to flow much differently than other comic book stories. I think the studio behind creating invincible had far less pioneering ideas of making a superhero story especially from sharing the spotlight with DC and Marvel where EVERYONE knows those characters and a lot more of their backstories. All this being said I think the factor that is going to make the show shine in todays cinematic generation/period is how the most developed and pinnacle elements of the story only happen after a s l o w build. I think that long journey aspect has been missing in a lot of action/superhero pictures where this time of instant gratification and pandering for profit has overshadowed detailed and more meandering storytelling.

Something to note is that the title of that last episode “I Thought You Were Stronger” actually has 2 meanings. The first obviously is that Invincible thought that Angstrom was stronger and wouldn’t have died so easily. The second, more subtle and darker, meaning is that Invincible thought he was stronger in not giving into his primal instincts and his power to become a monster and kill others like his father did. That’s why he was so mortified for killing Angstrom, because the whole season he’s been saying he’s not a killer, he’s not his father, he’s stronger and will not resort to his killer instincts, at least he thought he was stronger…

The “convenience” about the Time Machine is because mark has been wandering crazy for a long undisclosed time. All the guardians are older which means they most likely haven’t had him around for a long time in general so when he popped up causing chaos with Levy they probably tripped a sensor or something to bring the guardians in. Levy also brought them to a desolate location because he most likely wanted to not hurt any civilians hence the wasteland. (That’s at least my head cannon/justification idk if it’s right)
