Also, that type of joke usually happens in the scene immediately after, whereas in the show, literally days have passed since he threw it, so in our minds, if it fell, it fall long ago. Yeah. Boys universe doesnt have supes on same level as other 'superhero universes' out there. Boys are pretty low-powered compared to others. But thats fine. Most important thing - the story is on point. There is no reason for there to be more powerful supes. Homelander is intimidating enough.

The show doesn't give a close-up on it until much later, but Atom Eve's logo is the female simple with little electrons orbiting it. But in the more simplistic distance drawing, it just looks like the female symbol is Xed out, which is really confusing.

According to the producers there was a mix-up and the simplified designs for distant drawings ended up being used for almost every shot, regardless of distance (there are two or three scenes in season one where the correct symbol can be briefly seen); thankfully it was fixed for the Atom Eve special and season two.

Atom Eve's logo is supposed to be the female symbol _with electron orbits around it_ (three in the books, two in the adaptation), but due to a mix-up between the design team and the animators the simplified design intended for distant shots ended up being used for most of the close up shots in season one (we can briefly see the correct symbol in two or three scenes in the whole season), so it ended up looking like it was crossed out. Thankfully this was fixed for the Atom Eve special and for season two.

They're both self aware, play wkth comic book superhero tropes, and have a brutally real look at what superhuman violence would look like, but that's where the similarities really end. They almost do what they do from mirror opposite perspectives. The Boys is a satire, whereas Invincible is a love letter to superhero stories. One is a cynical deconstruction, while the other is a loving reconstruction in the sense that it looks at deconsteuxtion and reaffirms the heroic ideal. They do similar things, but their stories are coming from a very different place and trying ti accomplish very different things.

"Invincible" is a MASTERCLASS in subverting expectations, I remember reading the comics in the early 2000's and it always keeps you wanting to see where the narrative is going and you can almost never guess AND the subversion is almost always worth the dissonance. Most times when an artist tries to "subvert the genre" the subversion ends up being worse than what you started out with. It's like you were expecting a microwave pizza and they give you an unopened can of cheap tuna, but this show gives you a delicious homemade calzone.

They want something unlike other hero stories, but when it actually focuses on the characters unlike a lot of bad hero media that ignores it completely, it's boring, even though the action isn't what she wanted. It's just too bad the show had issues with a writer's strike and then devolved into trying to fix the problem they created with Peter just being OP. It started out as something so much more than just the typical superhero genre, but then became the very thing it was trying not to be.

Honestly, while there are people who are getting tired of superheroes, I'm just tired of a**hole "superheroes". I'm looking for Superman, not Injustice Superman or Homelander or Omni-Man and so on. I recommend the 2016 Amazon Prime series "The Tick" for an actually enjoyable superhero series. There is tragedy and violence, but there is also straight out fun and humor with witty and likable characters, and is ultimately just a good actual superhero series instead of just another "dark subversion".

Well, you also have to consider this; and it makes sense. Yes the Government CAN and SHOULD be questioning him, except Nolan is this universe's equivalent to Superman. A lot of people compare this series to The Boys, but the creative philosophies behind them are actually polar opposites. Garth Ennis, who wrote the original comic of The Boys, *HATES* superheroes. He despises them basically on principle because he doesn't seem to believe in heroism or altruism in general, and assumes that any human being with superheroes would invariably and almost instantly become a megalomaniacal narcissist. Honestly, I really dislike The Boys comics; they just feels spiteful and mean-spirited. The show pivoted into a much more meaningful and interesting critique of celebrity worship, political corruption, and corporate greed, but the original is basically just Garth Ennis flipping off the very concept of Superheroes and gleefully shitting on them. Robert Kirkman, who wrote the original comic of Invincible, has described it as a love letter to the Superhero genre, because he believes that the idea of superheroes can be a meaningful exploration of what heroism and altruism look like with realistic implications and consequences.

I will say about the study date thing. I have dated a girl who has done that. Nearly married her cause it was kinda hot having her call me out. Tbh... My current gf is like that 😂 I enjoy her calling me out because it's both in a jokingly sarcastic but still complimentary way. And gives me the freedom to do the same in return hehe. Just a fun relationship Also about the vanilla I think it was intentional. It was supposed to be a slow burn show that felt like a normal vanilla super hero sort of soap opera but with a lot of hidden things behind the scenes happening

Drakblood is supposed to be reference to Etrigan who always speaks in rhyme, that is where is speech pattern comes from. As for Amber, if you continue the series, you will learn that they wrote her crapply and yes, she has weird dialogue and it is supposed to make her look insightful and like she calls people out but comes off as a smart aleck. Her comic character was the typical girl who just waits for her super hero man to come home and they tried to flip the script on her with that (and race flipped her and made her the the only insufferable character, not the best move for diversity) and screwed it up.

Feel like that is an issue with people's perceptions on animation. It being for kids and all where you can have stuff even from the 70s that very adult in nature even if you stick to American productions. Kind of worries me sometimes as you get even government organizations that rate things like Blood-c and Toyko Ghoul as child friendly because it's animated.

If you're ever interested, I really recommend watching the DCAU (DC Animated Universe) which is to be the best depiction of the DC universe outside the comics. It is comprised of Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Batman : Mr. Freeze: SubZero, Superman: The Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman, Catwoman: Chase Me (short film), Superman: Brainiac Attacks (non canon), Batman Beyond, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, Justice League: The Animated Series, Static Shock and Justice League Unlimited. Just make sure you look at the production order for the shows because the ones on the streaming service are wrong.
