5:00 this is the first time since Athens in the very first GuessWhere that I get a city faster than you by recognizing a landmark. Even from this far out I know exactly what Old Trafford looks like lol

I'm getting some Baader Meinhof effect from this video. Haven't thought about Malabo in my life other than doing capitals quizzes etc. but was just randomly looking at the map of Africa the other day and saw Malabo, and was like huh, never knew that was on an island. Than I noticed that bizarre collection of buildings to the north east and had to figure out what they were. It makes perfect sense when you think about it, what does a completely impoverished country under the thumb of psychotic dictators since its inception need. 52 luxury presidential villas plus a bunch of other amenities built over the course of two years to host an African Union summit that lasted one week.

Malabo so tricky, you don’t think of Eq Guinea as an island country (for obvious reasons)

Airports are also a good place to get clues because the airplanes often have country or city names on the side.

I got Malabo instantly because i thought: "Terrible image quality + architecture looks african + on an island" Malabo just instantly came to mind. HOWEVER a city that you got instantly that i spent over 40 minutes on and eventually gave up was Quebec City. The architecture looked sooooo european to me, particularly eastern europe, i think i looked at just about ever Russian, Ukrainian and Belarussian city there was before eventually giving up and reverse image serching. Had i had 4 more hours i still don't think North America would have even crossed my mind, least NA looking city in NA, insane.

Also the massive contrast between the rural slums and rich residential complexes with massive highways helped me get Malabo too. There's not that many places where the inequality gap is quite this big.
