Woww… what an incredible journey. I must say your video production quality and narration is next level. I am glued to your video when i watch. What gear do you use to shoot ? Also whats the best time to hike mt murchison? Are there any group tours from christchurch ? Also i want learn about moutaineering like using ropes and ice axe for climbing, is there any training center in auckland?

Oh thank you for such great feedback! As Mt Murchison is quite low compared to the Southern Alps, its snow slopes melt away early in a season making the summit ridge more of a rock climbing/scramble. The recent reports from climbers suggested there are bare unstable rocks on that last section now (late Dec), however we know of some people still climbing it in Feb… I guess depends on your risk tolerance level? This video is from early Nov… Oh we use a few, mostly action cameras. The best way to learn these skills would be to join your local section of the NZ alpine club. They teach some basic snow craft courses for sure. Or you can sign up for the Remarkables ice and mixed festival - they do amazing clinics and it’s quite cheap. tried this about a month ago now, was pushed for time and did a 12 hour day from car park to barker hut, and then a 3am start the following day making it to 2344m but after that was too exhausted to keep going 😢 going back soon though 😊

Hey, yeah, we hear you! That's an incredibly long day with a huge distance to cover - no wonder you're exhausted! We almost fell into the same trap, as some people made it sound easily doable. But we're not as fit, and climbing the next day is a big ask. Mental determination can only take you so far, and we've learned to pace ourselves and break down adventures into smaller, manageable chunks 😂 All the best with your second attempt! By the way, was there a lot of snow there this year?

Looks like your team needs an old school Kiwi tramper to get y'all up that mountain. It's painful to watch the footwear changes and river crossings. One set of alternate footwear all the way to the snow is the way to go time and comfort wise.
